A well-placed fireball (turned to necrotic damage) by Xenia took out a lot of the trainers and acolytes, and Scura's Spirit Guardians defended the small chamber we were in, leaving the others free to engage the remaining monks in single combat. Wally pushed one out of the window, but they just Misty Stepped right back in. > > After the fight, we looted the gems that Xenia's Wand of Wonders had created, and each of the monks had a Lotus Blade and a Razor Chain to loot. Xenia investigated a catch at the back of the altar, revealing a staircase going down. > > Wally rushed off to investigate another room, with Scura rushing in after him. They found a sort of shrine to Vespin Chloras, whom Dax remembered was someone who had attempted to do the same thing the Matron Queen had done (ascend to godhood), but for a Betrayer God, Asmodeus. Last monk has a potion (the one who was killed by Milla) - has a potion of mind reading. There's an ornate altar with incense and burnt offerings with a curl of smoke going towards the ceiling. There's a catch around the back of the altar. Wally runs away to open the door, which has an image of a whip on it. He can't unlock it, but manages to smash the door in. We see a room with a scroll that has [[Vespin Chloras|a black-haired man]] on it with a blood-soaked whip on it. ![[twc-vespin-chloras.png]] The shrine room has a coffer. The word *Vespin* is on the scroll and the coffer. Razor-studded whip with a shark-skin handle. Dax investigates the scrolls. There are some statues and scrolls that are valuable. Two of the scrolls have ornate artwork, and they're about 300 gold each. She sees an image of some sort of archmage that is casting a spell. She sees symbolism of [[The Raven Queen]] and [[Asmodeus]]. Motif of a black lotus flower. She seems to think the whip guy was trapped by Asmodeus. She thinks the guy with the whip is [[Vespin Chloras]]. He is famous in ancient [[Vasselheim]]. He was a famously masterful and vicious archmage who was inspired by the Raven Queen ascending to godhood. Instead of planning to replace one of the Prime Deities, he planned to replace one of the [[The Betrayer Gods|Betrayer Gods]], Asmodeus. But something went wrong, and he released the Betrayer Gods from their prison and was bound himself. Nobody knows where he went (except [[Aygonath]]). We are in a shrine to him. Xenia undoes the catch at the altar. There's a mechanism that slides back to reveal stairs going down. Wally asks Milla why she's a Runechild. Really weird conversation about why she's a child and how she's not a child and why Aygonath called her that. Milla gestures to her tits, hanging out in the tight maid's outfit that she is wearing now from the servant. Wally thinks "Runelady" seems weird. *Vigilant Blessing* on Wally. Xenia casts *Comprehend languages*. It's in Abyssal. He learns pretty much what Dax had deduced from the images. He casts *Identify* on the whip. It's called Demonlash. +1 whip. ~~The Ras-Godai~~ [[The Crimson Order]] is the name of the people/cult that we were fighting. There's a glowing green light below the altar. *Who dares defile the tomb of Vespin? Alarm, alarm!* It echoes across everywhere.
