It turned out that they're both pirates of The Revelry. Betty accused Three Earrings of leaving her behind when their previous trip to Palma Flora went wrong and breaking the code of The Revelry, while Three Earrings accused Betty of stealing from the ship's rations. > > Since the punishment for thievery on The Intrepid Mermaid is to walk the plank, Wally offered to take Betty's punishment. Three Earrings reluctantly agreed, and he walked off the plank and then activated his Winged Boots to fly to safety on the other side. While the two captains continued to try to drum up support from the crew, which seemed split, we were attacked by sharks and sahuagins! Xenia quickly dispatched of them with a *Chain Lightning*, and then of Three Earrings with a nasty *Disintegrate*. > > With Betty now in power (and in our debt), we learned a bit more about the ship's cargo. Ayzar, the feline creature in the hold, is a bristled moorbounder that Three Earrings had planned to auction off in Port Damali. In addition, the ship was also ferrying some suude and gunpowder for The Myriad contingent in Port Damali. > > As we settled in for the night, Scura gave Wally a late present for Winter's Crest: a single pendant incorporating the symbols of Raei, Sehanine, and Pelor. I felt like we as a party were going back and forth just like the ship's crew was. It was fun to try and figure out which of the two pirates was more trustworthy. ⭐ Wally getting a flash of "The Eternal Night City". ⭐ Imedia's just hot. ⭐ I know it's problematic sometimes, but being able to generate images for our game with AI really adds to my experience. I love that I was able to get Midjourney to create Scura's presents. ⭐ Pitching joining forces with Wally and the New Church of Raei. %% --- ## Recap ![[ttrpgs/Temporary White Circle/126_20240409 Green-haired sea elves and invisible captains#^summary]] --- ## Log We begin combat, but really, we don't do much-- Wally manages to convince [[Imedia]] that we need to bring [[Barnacle Betty]] over to [[Three Earrings]]. ![[twc-imedia.png]] ![[twc-imedia_token.png]] The cook seems to recognise [[Barnacle Betty]]. "I thought you were dead." Three Earrings recognises Betty too. Betty was the previous captain who was "mysteriously dead". Three Earrings "abandoned" her and the ship was sinking. She left Betty with the horrors on board. Three Earrings says that there was no hope so she did what she could. Betty asks "Where's [[Graveclaw]]?" Imedia seems interested in this question. Captain Graveclaw unfortunately hit his head and Three Earrings had to take over. (I don't believe her.) Three Earrings accuses Betty of stealing rations, which is a grave accusation here. Three Earrings says she has to walk the plank and that she belongs at the bottom of the ocean. Wally convinces her to let the punishment be meted out to him instead-- and then he flies to the other side of the ship. [[Heidi]] knows what Three Earrings did when the "awful creatures" came on board. Three Earrings took the only rowboat left intact and escaped. Betty tries to launch mutiny, saying that she will not betray them and that she has the ear of [[The Plank King]]. I cast *Zone of Truth*. - Three Earrings failed. She said she saved whom she could. The situation was dire. She didn't want to become an undead beast herself. It's the duty of the captain to stay with the ship. She did what the First Mate did-- save the crew. - Three Earrings, Imedia, Bran, U'legraf know about [[Ayzar]]. - Barnacle Betty also failed. She thinks The Plank King would take her side. But I know that Betty is higher up than Three Earrings. Three Earrings was actually the first mate to Betty. They're both pirates. - Imedia failed. Imedia never met Barnacle Betty, and only recently met Three Earrings. - But Heidi says that she trusted Betty with her life, and nearly lost it. So she actually trusts Three Earrings more. - Three Earrings doesn't want to tell us what she plans. She wants to head to Port Damali, offload her cargo, gather money, pay the crew, and go off on her merry way. - Betty wants to head back to [[ttrpgs/Temporary White Circle/Palma Flora|Palma Flora]] and find out what happened there. It's a peninsula off the coast of Port Damali. They wanted to find treasures and were surprised to run into trouble and sank. Betty says Three Earrings should be bound to the mast for The Plank King to deal with. - [[Dillyu]] feels misled that he's on a pirate boat. Imedia and Bran are neutral Three Earrings: Heidi Betty: getting the others Sahuagin come onto the ship! One of them hads a trident. THey are green muscly creatures, fins on their neck. Ummm... I guess Xenia is captain now? But he says that Betty is the captain. Investigating the bodies: - Main guy had a rod on him with a glowing crystalline eye (*Rod of Retribution*). - They all have markings like serpent-like eyes on their arms. - The main guy has a serpent tattoo. The serpent's body has lots of eyes. These serpents are different from the serpents from [[Vermeillon]]. The ones from Vermeillon were much more worm-like ([[ttrpgs/Temporary White Circle/Quajath|Quajath]]). Betty had a *Ring of Invisibility.* The sahuagin are the indigenous inhabitants of this land. It's about 1am. Xenia gave her back her ring. Betty says she's in our debt threefold about Three Earrings, sahuagin, and then for Xenia giving her back the ring of invisibility. She says that's what happened in Palma Flora. The island sank and they were attacked by these creatures. Then the island sank in some sort of earthquake. But they'd also taken aboard some sort of cargo that was a flesh eating beast that destroyed the crew and she got stuck in the hold. Betty knows [[Ayzar]] is a bristled moorbounder: a deadly hunter in [[ttrpgs/Temporary White Circle/Xhorhas|Xhorhas]]. [[Rosohna]] is the Eternal Night City. She thinks that Three Earrings was trying to sell Ayzar in Port Damali. There's an itch in Wally's mind about Rosohna, a memory of a city of night and walking its streets and a strange crystalline palace that he spent some time in. But they can also be good mounts. Ayzar is a she. They're fantastic hunters. Wally calls Imedia "Buttercup". She does *NOT* like that. Bran might know who they were meeting for Ayzar. Bran just automatically sides with us as "the right people". That's how he's lived so long. He doesn't know who, but he knows where. They were going to the [[The Exalted Collection Auction House|The Exalted Collection Auction House]] run by [[The Rymmer Family]] and they were going to deliver Ayzar there and have her auctioned off. The other stuff is regular contraband: illicit drugs ([[ttrpgs/Temporary White Circle/Suude|Suude]]), gunpowder kept (hopefully) dry. Suude was developed by archmages in the [[The Age of Arcanum]] as an incense and it was burned to increase ritual spellcasting. It's "a wizard's drug". The secret to its refinement had been lost and rediscovered. Lots of types have been created. Mentally degenerative, extremely addictive even when used sparingly. When it's inhaled, it gives people hallucinations and extra arcane abilities. I knew about this from my alchemy training. It's powder made of [[ttrpgs/Temporary White Circle/Residuum|Residuum]]. The drugs and gunpowder were supposed to go to [[ttrpgs/Temporary White Circle/The Myriad|The Myriad]] contacts in [[ttrpgs/Temporary White Circle/Port Damali|Port Damali]]. What about [[The Plank King]]? Bran was only half surprised about that. He thought she was a likely pirate of [[ttrpgs/Temporary White Circle/The Revelry|The Revelry]]. He's had his time working with captains from The Revelry. But the truth is that The Revelry have a code of conduct - they're not lawless. Three Earrings should have stayed to help Betty and didn't, so she was right to be judged by the Plank King. I give Wally his present for Winter's Crest. I pitch syncretism to him: what if we could combine the followings of [[Raei]], [[Sehanine]], and [[Pelor]]? What if we could piggyback off Pelor's popularity in [[The Dwendalian Empire|The Empire]] and use it to spread the word of both Raei and Sehanine? All three gods' teachings are very similar and not contradictory, plus their themes are similar too: light and dark, and how good must prevail. ![[twc-pelor-pendant.png]] ![[twc-sehanine-raei-pelor-pendant.png]] Wally agrees that we could work together and puts the pendant on.
