%% date:: [[2022-12-09]] %% # [[Mesa]] *aka Ilbane* Mesa is the name of the boss that appeared to us as a red-skinned tiefling and became a full fiend with wings after we had damaged him enough. We fought him in [[Vermeillon]] in [[027_20211123 Stopping the ritual]], when we stopped a ritual he was carrying out, ostensibly on behalf of [[The Ninth Revelation]] and [[ttrpgs/Temporary White Circle/Torog]], in [[Observatory of the Sun and Moon#Sacrificial Chamber]]. He was able to Dimension Door away before we could kill him. He also conjured [[The Evening Moon]] as part of the ritual. He has also been referred to as "Ilbane" by the cultist that I cast _Speak with Dead_ on. He is a [[Cambion]]. ## Appearance In tiefling form, he is red-skinned. In true (?) fiendish form, he has wings: ![[mesa.png]] He also has tattoos of flames and the hands of [[ttrpgs/Temporary White Circle/Torog]] on one bicep, and a serpentine worm with a human face on one end of it. ## Fighting Mesa ### Defense AC is <= 21 ### Abilities - Disguise self/Alter self as tiefling form - Has wings in fiend form - _Dimension Door_ - Can fly ## Affiliations - Was leading the cultists from [[The Ninth Revelation]] - Spoke disparagingly about [[ttrpgs/Temporary White Circle/Corellon]] - Called [[Karmilla Duskbloom|The tiefling]] a "cousin" when he found out she was a [[Karmilla Duskbloom|a Runechild]]. - Enemy of the [[Korred]]s. They told us they saw him flying over their gorge in [[070_20221115 Dax the Lone Farlander]].
