# [[Veronika Alice Arness]] *Nika, Knight of Amberville* Nika is a human woman in her mid 20s. She's 5' tall, with brown hair. She's dressed in fall colours and carries two swords and a bow. ![[twc-nika-2.png]] ## Backstory She met [[Karmilla Duskbloom]] when they were both in [[ttrpgs/Temporary White Circle/The Feywild|The Feywild]], but we don't know much more about their relationship other than that they seem to have been friends. Nika was in the Feywild for nine years. We met her underneath [[The Errenath Estate]] on the way to [[Vuthos]]. She has mentioned that she wants to get a giant's beard. ![[twc-autumn-globe.png]] *Scura's gift to Nika for Winter's crest* ### The Hag's Bargain Nika's father, [[Kai Arness]], likely made a deal with a hag, possibly [[Luric Adronoss]] or [[The Hagmother]], that got him political success but with the possible consequence of Nika being banished to [[ttrpgs/Temporary White Circle/The Feywild|The Feywild]]. She spent nine years there with [[Arden]] and [[Lord Sumerian]] until her father and Luric summoned her back. Nika made a deal with Luric, who is a powerful wizard. It could have been a result of her father's hag bargain, but it could also have been because she "wished upon a star" once to be somewhere else, and found that it had come true. When Nika was banished to The Feywild, she spent nine years there. - First, she spent some time in the lodging of an old lady with two other lady friends she kept talking about ([[The Corrupted Coven]]). Eventually Nika ran away, taking her fate into her own hands. - Then, she found [[Ambervale]], led by [[Lord Sumerian]], who together with his son [[Arden]] took Nika in. Nika eventually fell in love with Arden. ## Quirky things about Nika ### Her shadow Nika's shadow has a mind of its own-- something happened in the Feywild and for some reason, Nika's shadow often dances or plays around on her own while Nika is sleeping. Scura joked that the shadow's name is *Akin*-- Nika backwards. ### Rules Nika abides by some very fey rules. 1. Three and five are better than two. 2. Don't step into strange circles. 3. A promise is a promise. ### Autumn smells Nika always smells of cinnamon and apples. ### Time Nika sucks at keeping time because time proceeds differently in The Feywild. ## Family - Her father is [[Kai Arness]]!
