## Session Summary

> Hunter and Selox stayed behind with the goblins and went back to the city while Amina, Falhorn, and Plim kept going on the trail of the flying monster. Eventually, we came across a cave, where we saw a hippogriff with a screeching, squirming dog and three hungry baby hippogriffs behind her. We realised that it had been a dog, not a baby, that we were chasing. Plim rescued the dog while Falhorn and Amina killed the hippogriffs (Falhorn a little too enthusiastically). When we got back to town, the dog's owner, a baker named Mrs Muffin, gave Plim a Stone of Good Luck in thanks.

⭐ Climbing up and down the tree being the most dangerous foe we've encountered so far.
⭐ Using the high variance die for Plim's amazing trick shot. I would love more of that-- epic successes at the risk of some epic fails!
🪄 That Lulu and Sjoerd had been there too.
⭐ While I always prefer to have everyone present, it was also nice to have a more intimate group last night.
⭐ I really enjoyed when Tyler went and looked for sailors to talk to and ended up playing a game with them. It introduced three new characters to the story that might not otherwise have been there. I'm not sure what it is about the current adventure, but I feel like there's more space and time to RP here. Maybe because we always go back to the Giggling Gargoyle and there's a set lull in the action.
⭐ Hot half-orc. 'Nuff said.
⭐ The creepy music with sound effects on the ship. Really made me feel like we were there!
⭐ The body horror and obvious delight @Andy took in describing the gruesome scenes. Really atmospheric.
🪄 That we wouldn't call for reinforcements so we can just fight all the time. :D
⭐ It means so much to me to have this group of friends. Sometimes I just want to not be Nicole for a while. Thank you for giving me the space to do that, and for also just being there when I have to come back to being Nicole.

We get a short rest on the way there because Andy's being nice since there are just three of us today.
We hear screeching coming from the cave.
We go in. Amina falls, of course, and nearly kills herself.
Hippogriff

It's taking a dog and trying to feed it to its three children.

We return the dog to the baker woman, [[Mrs Muffin]] :

She gives us a stone. Polished agate. It's a *stone of good luck*.
We go back to [[Giggling Gargoyle]] where [[Lyza]] is talking to [[Porky]]. They're arguing. Porky says he won't have goblin ears here - Master [[ttrpgs/Temporary White Circle/Yussa Errenis|Yussa]] won't take kindly to it.
Tomorrow we're on night patrol in the harbour.
She thinks they usually keep to themselves. There was an island called [[Dragon Isle]] that fell and caused a tidal wave. Maybe it was that.
Why did Falhorn join the City Watch?
- He got into some trouble and his mother didn't want to cover for him this time. It's like public service as punishment.
Asked about why I'm here.
- The Pallid Elves are really strict
- I went to [[Port Damali]] first, then went to Nicodranas to make a living in a different way.
- You don't really need a living in the Pallid Grove. It's a barter system (and a cult).
- We were on our own for a while so we had to be self-sufficient.

Plim talks to some sailors. One that keeps scratching his beard ([[U'legraf]]), and another older wizened scruffy one with a scraggly beard ([[Bran]]), plus buff half orc female with a sword ([[Imedia]]).
Bran
- He's really from nowhere. The sea is his mistress.
- They (his crew) are lucky they survived the tidal wave.
Imedia
- Bran says she has a death wish. Maybe she wants to wish for Plim's death.
- She threatens to cut his cheating hands.
- greenish in hue not blue gray, pretty buff liek Michelle Rodriguez, two brushed Mohican plaits. Very barbarian like. Tattoos
Bran tells us about [[The Glisteners]]. They're a guild that run the Wharf. They keep things running. They keep the materials in Open Quay. Fancy wizard guy looks after them. They keep everyone paid well and they take their cut.
Bran was the quartermaster. U'legraf is a scientist. A botanist investigating strange creatures and plants they find when they go to strange lands. She turns and shows the sword. She has a large scar and has a snake that wraps around the scar. They were being boarded by 20 people. One of them got a lucky blow. He didn't last long. His head rolled.
She wouldn't work for the Plank King, that's for sure. He causes plenty of trouble. She doesn't like it when she's trying to protect her client's wares.
Their ship is called [[The Intrepid Mermaid]].
It's 17 Duscar
Long rest
Now it's 18 Duscar.
It's at night by the harbour.
Sound of splintering wood - [[The Night Mare]], a ship, has crashed into the jetty.
The harbourmaster, a halfling named [[Roscoe]], says he doesn't like the look of it. There's no crew on the ship. He also points at the flag - it's a skull and crossbones.
We get onto the ship. It's almost certainly a ghost one.
There are double beds with pretty ornaments, coloured glass bottles, little statuettes. Dressing table. There's a railing around it to keep it from falling off. Small armoire. This seems like the captain's quarters and the perfume suggests that it belonged to a woman.
Falhorn finds a captain's log charting journeys from Port Damali to Nicodranas and occasionally down the Menagerie Coast. Stuff about mutinies and fights breaking out. Notes about [[The Plank King]]. Going back to [[Darktow]]. There are some accounts of ships they've overrun. Towards the end the writing gets more shaky and rushed. "The last few crew were overrun. I'll do what I can."
There are blood marks by the helm, a huge blood stain.

The trail goes down below the deck as if a body has been dragged.
We hear a woman's voice below deck. "Please, someone help me."
We go below deck. The trail of blood leads through te door and towards the front of the ship.
Fetid disgusting stench and loads of flies. It's a barrel of severed body parts crawling with maggots. There's a bolted hatch in the floor and there are a lot of flies. The floor is sticky.
We open the hatch. There are more rats and flies in here. This part of the ship is a storage area. There's a mound in the middle of the room: putrid body parts. There's one that's moving! Emaciated, chomping on a human arm or leg. Fixes its eyes on us. Mouth full of teeth and a tongue that flicks out with ferocious speed.

A crossbow bolt goes near my head and sticks into the wood. A woman's voice asks us to leave before the curse overruns us.

She's a half-elf.
She says something about taking her payments. She's lost all her income. The gold in the pockets in the mound there are all the income she's going to get.
She offers to give us something to go away. Each of the people should have 10 gp and maybe some more gems or pearls. And there are 10 of them.
Plim suggests that she give us each a pearl and then we'll give two pearls back when she gets out of jail.
Her name is [[Barnacle Betty]].
She's in custody.
