They said that a few performers had gone missing there, the last of which was a young woman named Anise Trilby. Calliope and Birdie joined undercover as dancers, and the first night's performance went well. We didn't want to call attention to ourselves by performing as well as we could, and as a result we did feel a strange magickal focus that didn't quite reach its climax. ^summary %% ## Video [Video]() %% --- ## Recap ![[001_20240505 Meeting Madam Fidovich#^summary]] --- ## Log We learn from [[Hugo Garcia]] that some people who have disappeared are under his employ. Birdie says she's worked at the bar. Tarrin says she can work security. Eric says he's good at treating sprains for the girls. Tracy Tassles, Candy Cashore (Birdie), Tarrin, and Eric Birtwhistle are the names we give him. Candy goes to a nearby bar and tries to get gossip but she just gets condescended to. Some women come in while Candy's talking to her. The barista gave them some other special drinks. They're obviously women who work at the Twilight Theatre. They're all a bit older, more tired. [[John Lyons]]. Passionate about causes he believes in. Clean cut. He's quite protective of sex workers of the Red Lamp district. He wants to protect them. I've had casual dalliances with him but we haven't dated. He gets more personally involved than he should especially when more powerful people have abused their reach. He's often lost cases to hold powerful corrupt people accountable. He's a good guy. - Families of people who work there say they've gone missing. - [[Anise Trilby]] was a dancer. She didn't show up back home. Family were insistent that something happened. Father talked to the cops. - He gives me the address in [[Silverslip]]-- a family in the upper middle class. Anise "goes her own way". - There was a commotion some weeks back at one of the performances. Someone was ranting and raving about seeing weird things. Nobody else saw anything. They were saying fantastical things. Eric and Tarrin are going to get gear for us. "Candy": [[Lulu Green]] is another dancer who had been tasked with managing the bar. Mid 40s. Running a bit ragged. She tells Candy most people get cheap beer. Don't give out expensive stuff to people-- the margins aren't that high. - Last bartender was [[Jake]]. He was working here because he was someone's boyfriend. They got into a fight and he quit. Hugo has just never hired anyone else. - When asked about the turnover: [[Trishy Lu|Trishy]]'s been here longer - she's been here forever. Babies don't last too long. They have an energy that doesn't fit in here. - The storeroom is pretty empty. Hugo has to take her to see it. I get ready and dress down to fit in. - Trishy Lu is tall and obviously the leader. - I'm now "Gizmo GIrl" because I try to use a bleed detector and fail. - I ask about the last person. It's Anise. I see a bit of anguish there in Trishy. - The oldest one in the room, late 50s, was smirking as everyone else talked about Anise as being very youthful. [[Elma Finn'der]] Eric gets some time with the talent as a doctor. They show him their rashes. - [[Bobby Jean]] is a male performer. Tarrin starts with her job. She has to intimidate some hecklers, but they'll probably still be heckling later on. She gets the approval of Trishy Lu. Elma is an older lady that has a good voice, but she's a few years past her time - it's a little raspy. She's a bit cringy. Tarrin feels some sort of a pull that is changing the attitudes of people there, but it's slight. It's not extreme. They're all just a little more focused than they were. It's like it was building towards something but it died before it did. It didn't quite rise up to the highest level tonight. It went down to normal towards the end of the night. I felt affected by something too. I was more involved than I probably would have been.
