We interviewed the other two members of the triad, but the didn't know anything about Anise. On the second night of the performances at The Twilight Theatre, Birdie and Tarrin sensed a Lens Effect that turned the entire theatre into a magickal amplifier, spurred on by Calliope's performance. Calliope began to sense that the focus was shifting from Bobby Jean to her, and a fissure began to open. Happy she ran a good bar. She's just focusing on coming back the next night. She checks back in on her real job too. She knows that the action isn't going to be out here. She would have to be inside the theatre in the future. She suggests to Hugo that they offer seat service. - Calliope: Thinking about upping the ante and being more appealing bait by really performing my best and trying to get taken or disappeared. This feels right but I probably need to take precautions. I go to [[John Lyons]] and ask him to come to the show before our date tomorrow night. He says yes. - Eric: He just had a recent engagement that was broken off with [[Laura Ashley Beaumont]], so doesn't really want to start anything new. He *saw* things but didn't really see anything important. - Tarrin: Thinks we need more emotion or tension to try again. Maybe we could all just work together to make something dramatic and energetic. We fast forward to the next morning. %% 1. /coroll 3 Rolls 3 normal D6 dice. Normal D6: 6/5/3 Gilded D6: 2 - Failure %% We're making plans for the next show. - Tarrin - Wants to get [[Scarlet]], an illegal hallucinogenic that's harvested from [[The Scarlet Wood]]. It's a snuff, sourced from tree sap. It has religious and recreational significance. It's considered immoral and hedonistic. It's not an upper. It's going to mellow people out so probably not something we want to use if we want to rouse people up. - Tarrin finds [[Herbert Barnes]] just outside the Scarlet Wood. He sells wheat, ostensibly, but also scarlet. Herby Barnes is happy to see Tarrin. Calliope joins her. He does give her some and gives her some tips for what to do when she takes it. If Tarrin doesn't continue to buy drugs from him, though, he might take that as an affront. ^2cfdf6 - Scarlet is a bit more refined than what the people at the Twilight Theatre can afford. - Eric - Works on a new persona called David Blaine based on what Callie suggested. He asks for a "makeover" at a haberdasher. He only wanted an incremental makeover but they go all out and do a phenomenal job. Eric looks fantastically different. - He's decided that his life's purpose is to open a clinic for the needy. He's writing up a plan to get investors. - Calliope - Going to the Trilbys' - The family is in [[Silverslip]]. It's basically a mansion. We tell the maid that answers that we want to talk about Anise. I try to ask her what she thinks but she doesn't open up to me. I get the feeling that the Trilbys aren't very close to their help. She gets startled that I would even ask, and then frightened because she doesn't want to get into trouble. This is a house without a lot of love and with a lot of fear in it. - We meet the Trilbys. They're people that have worked themselves up to worry. It's a well-honed worry. They're not fully performing but sort of. They also don't get along very well together. - I tell them I'm a Private Investigator. We split them apart. - [[Henrietta Trilby]] is the wife's name. Don't know what the man's name is. [[Mr Trilby]] I ask him if he's been there. He admits he's been to the Twilight Theatre. This show was definitely not his awakening (unlike Eric). He did have reactions that he was probably ashamed of. He says it was just to see his daughter of course. I get the sense that she was the light on this stage. Everyone else was tired and old and was going through the motions. She was hanging out with a lot of people they didn't approve of. The last boyfriend he knows about is some guy from down the block-- a name like [[Beauregard]]. He was the last boyfriend of hers that her parents felt was suitable. - I get a sense that he probably knows that his strict parenting style that he was pushing her away. And now he's gone. He's probably not a great person, but doesn't have a nefarious secret. I've probably burned him as a resource. - Anise is a fetching young blond woman. The wife reveals that she might have been in a poly relationship. A guy and a girl. Maybe both at the same time? - Birdie: normal day at [[Brewed Enlightening Teas and Coffees]]. - Calliope and Tarrin: chase up her throuple - We go to a rundown place in [[Red Lamp]]. They are a layabout couple of kids in their early 20s. They're totally on scarlet. - They were a triad but more casual. But a lot of their relationship was complaining about parents. They're concerned about freedom. The girlfriend seems to care more about Anise and might have wanted a more serious relationship with her. The boyfriend was just really having fun. They never really knew quite why she was dancing at the Twilight Theatre. The boy says she was just an exhibitionist. The girl says Anise did want more than that but Anise did feel like there was something special about that place. She couldn't really describe it though. Neither of them went to see the show though. They were escaping their parents but they didn't really want to live the life. Before the start of the show - Introduce Tarrin to John - Go to [[Bobby Jean]] Birdie and Tarrin Sense something like a fissure It's like the entire theatre is a reflective dish, like a magnifying glass. A zone of concentrated magical effect. Something's coming. ([[The Lens Effect]]) I'm not the only one heightening my performance. The target/focus was clearly Bobby Jean, but it turns to me. I'm the one showing the most life force and energy. Whatever it is that's targeting me wants to see more. I almost couldn't stop myself anyway. A fissure begins to open. Eric yells "Fire!" Everyone's frozen, though. Tarrin takes her gun and goes towards the fissure. I take my gun out and fire at the ceiling and tell everyone to get out, but most people are still frozen. What comes out of the fissure is a large slimy mass-mouthed big-toothed creature. We know that this creature is the cause of the entropy. It will bring death and the end of all things.
