We emptied the Theatre out of patrons as much as possible and then ERic started a fire to burn the entire Lens down. The Worm retreated back into the fissure. The next day, we reported to our Lightkeeper, who was a little put off that we didn't capture anything for Candela Obscura to study. She was younger and full of life. - [[Elma Finn'der]] - 50s woman, jealous - [[Bobby Jean]] - male performer who hit on Eric, now the male equivalent of Anise - the one most full of life - [[John Lyons]] - Callie's FWB In Candela Obscura, only PCs have turns and NPCs just react to them. Birdie is in the aisle. She had just sensed the fissure and the worm coming through. Eric uses his *Occult Researcher* rule to find out an important occult fact about [[The Conqueror Worm]]. He learns that the whole theatre is like a lens, a focus or lure for something from the outside. Tarrin grabs Calliope and throws her out of the way of the worm, pushing her off the stage. Callie doesn't resist. Bobby Jean was one of the people who were least affected. Everyone else is moving in slow motion, pretty much. I shoot at the worm and hit but I realise mundane weapons probably aren't going to stop the thing. It does surprise it that anyone would try to fight it. It rears back and groans. It's gross and slimy. From it emanates waves of entropy and lethargy and something that's slowing us down and aging us. It reminds us of our own impending deaths. It's now entirely focused on me instead of Bobby Jean. Eric thinks that the theatre itself needs to be destroyed. He looks for matches to start a fire. He finds one with `Twilite Theater` on it. He goes east and starts to douse the walls and floor with alcohol. A fire starts on the east side. Tarrin drags Callie away and yanks her out of the way just in time to keep her from the jaws of the creature. As we go to the backstage, the worm kind of stops as if it can't follow. It's like the backstage is not part of its home. It starts to squeal because the theatre is on freaking fire. I get people to start to run, also because of the fire more than my voice really (mixed success). The theatre was silent but now there's a lot of commotion and yelling. The Worm looks back to the theatre and comes for Eric. Eric sneaks away and manages to evade it. It's still rampaging in the theatre though, and there are still lots of other people who are in danger. Tarrin manages to get people to safety (*Move*) and I manage to distract it somewhat (*Sway*). The theatre is burning down as people stream out of it. Eric manages to get the last of the audience members, the perverts in the back row, before the theatre burns. The worm has no one to feed off and squirms through the flames, getting slower as its life force collapses. It makes its way to the fissure and throws itself through just as the ceiling caves in with a vast roar. Eric goes after Bobby Jean, who gives him an exuberant kiss. Bobby Jean now knows what killed Anise and what happened, and he sees what we all did. He's very grateful... especially to Eric.. Eric and Bobby Jean go home together, and Callie and Tarrin get a drink. Next day, we go to [[Lightkeeper Jezebel Moore]] to report. (We'll figure out what happens to Birdie later.) Jezebel reassures and encourages us. She's happy about our performance even though we didn't capture anything for them to study. We also say that the Worm is not dead... it made its way back into the fissure.
