# [[006_20240609 How to speak to crows]]
![[006_20240609.svg]]
## Session Summary
> [!tldr] [[006_20240609 How to speak to crows]]
> We got information on the three victims (Nadia, Treev, and Moklin). They died in different places and in different ways, but they all seemed to die in ways that were consistent with magicians' acts.
>
> Eric and Ash went to the Shriveline to see where the bodies were being moved to, but determined that whatever the phenomenon was, it was in Aberdeen Cemetery. They then went to the coroner in Red Lamp to ask about the body of Moklin Quell, the last victim. Ash did a *remote viewing* on Moklin's last moments and saw a vision of them dying while crows looked on.
>
> We all went back to the cemetery at night, and Ash spoke to the crows. They answered as if they were possessed by someone named "Ordo the Magnificent" who claimed the world had forgotten him, and that he wanted to kill us all. ^summary

## Log
[[Nadia Vztlakova]]
- She/her
- 30s
- Digger
- Married, husband, 2 young children
- The Steel
- Her lifeless body was found in an alley in the Steel on the way between the subway and her home
- Autopsy shows she was literally frightened to death
[[Treev Dallow]]
- He/him
- 20s
- Digger
- Groundswell
- Recent immigrant from another state in Hale
- Lived in a tenement building, 5th floor up, neighbors say he was quiet and friendly and industrious
- Now a crime scene: neighbors heard a massive scream, found his body sliced in half
[[Moklin Quell]]
- they/them
- 40s
- Driver, good with vehicles and mechanisms
- Jolly laughing man
- Lived in something of a commune in Red Lamp
- Water in his lung, drowned despite being nowhere near water
Eric and Ash go to the cemetery to see bodies. ([[The Shriveline]]) They're also looking for anyone who might be looking at bodies.
- There are lots of body bags in the graveyard
- It's a smaller plot than the [[Aberdeen Cemetery]]
- There are no headstones or names on them
- Eric detects some [[Bleed]], but it doesn't seem like it's from here.
- It seems like the source is in the other cemetery (Aberdeen)
Eric is able to talk to some functionary who gives him the goss about a bishop that is sleeping with someone despite supposedly being celibate. They actually end up having lunch.
- There's a bit of conflict within the church-- old guard, new guard. Old guard wants to keep the cemetery there, but new guard wants to work with people and get rid of the cemetery. Compromise was to find people in the Shriveline, but there's really not that much land in the Shriveline.
Then Eric and Ash go to see the coroner in [[Red Lamp]] about the most recent deaths. The body of Moklin Quell is there.
- They drowned, even though they were found in their bed.
- Eric tries to see the last image from the eyes of Moklin, but fails. He hears the cawing of birds (and Ash hears it too).
They go to Moklin's home to see where they died.
- They have simple paintings of flowers, nothing too expensive
- They were not a dour person
- Windows are open. Second floor, relatively big house.
- They live in some sort of free love commune but not really. They did not always sleep alone, but they slept alone this night.
- Ash does his *remote viewing* ritual.
- It's daytime.
- Moklin is asleep in their bed.
- There's a depression in their bed like someone was there and has just left.
- A crow appears and flies into the window. Lands on one corner of the bed. More come in and Moclan just starts to drown even though there's actually no water.
- Moklin loved to swim, so did not have a fear of water.
We regroup, then go back to Aberdeen Cemetery because Ash wants to go there at night.
- The crows are there and they're watching us.
- Ash tries to caw at them. That does not work. But he stumbles across something else that is not a bird mind. It's very clearly malevolent.
- Ash gets a Bleed. But he can ask three more questions.
- Question 1: What do you want?
- A male voice (whispery ancient voice) responds: `Leave me in peace.`
- Question 2: What is your name?
- Answer: `Ah, the world has forgotten me. I am Ordo the Magnificent.` ([[Ordo the Magnificent]]) ^c56d64
- Question 3: is there anything we can do to help besides leaving you in peace?
- Mixed Success! Ash takes a Bleed.
- It is definitely a malevolent entity. It isn't a "live and let live" type creature.
- Whatever this thing is, it's not there to make peace with us. It's there to get what it wants.
- `I will kill you all [growl].` Ash is blown back and knocked back on his ass, a searing pain in his mind and body. The birds caw and circle above him.
We run out of the cemetery.
Bleed was off the scale but is now rapidly dimishing.
Next day.
[[Lightkeeper Jezebel Moore]] checks in on us.
- She's patronising as fuck. Calls me "darling". But there's something underneath it... there's something more to her than that.
We realise that the deaths are related to magic tricks.
- Jump scares
- Sawing a person in half
- Escape from a water tank
But we don't see anything on Ordo the Magnificent.
We want to go back to look at headstones and get Tarrin's tent back.
