What here doesn’t work the way it appears? What is out of place here? - There's no way to reach the bear by using its bearish abilities. It's now a demon. The plan: Find the bear, get Ash to play bait and talk to it, and then draw it out to the cliff. There are no doors directly out to the cliff. Tarin tracks down the bear. It's towards the storage area. I mention [[007_20240616 The Prism of Disruption]] that we created at the beginning. Could we potentially use this to help with the bear somehow? Adam agrees to try to use it. I succeed in supervising the creation of some sort of makeshift battering ram to push the bear through the wall. - Calliope: Readying battering ram - Adam: Readying prism - Tarin: Getting ready to ride the bear or hurt it - Ash: Will speak to it and do the Circle of Protection and play the bait - Jared: Getting ready to Read the bear Go time! Jared sneaks closer and then Reads the bear. The bear is sizing him up for his suitability to be its next host. It's looking at him like an animal wanting to eat food. In this moment, Jared does not measure up as its next host. One of the reasons why is that it can hear the people behind you too. Guard [[Bella Zainabu]] I pull out my tranquilizer gun that I brought-- not for the bear, but for humans it may possess. Jared attempts to talk to the bear to try to get it to possess him. It's a corpse, but it still rises. - Bear: "You have no idea what I want." - Jared: "Then tell me. It's always more than just a host, isn't it?" (and he has his monocle on and sees a lot of Bleed) Jared fires his hand gun at the bear. He shoots and hits between his eyes. But the bullet does absolutely nothing-- it's already a corpse. The body of the bear lands directly in front of the prism. But the demon remains, radiated away. The demon is gone, banished by the power of the device. OMG we actually did it. I talk to Bella and intimidate her into treating the prisoners better. It works! We have killed the demon... but we have not figured out how it all started to begin with. We go to [[The White Rabbit]]. It's a place with velvet curtains (totally not a strip club, nope). Adam frequents it (he's been here within the last month). It's not bustling, about the third of the capacity that Adam would expect it to have gotten. Attendance has been going down and there's something off about it. People are huddled together and speaking in low, hushed tones. It feels like a community under siege. Adam is about 40. He has a bit of a group of younger magicians that he mentors. Only one of them is actually there-- she is the worst thorn in his side.
