Where we ended last time: Jared was working with [[Lightkeeper Jezebel Moore|Jezebel]] "researching" stuff. Adam is in bed with his husband. Ash drew a circle of protection under their bed. Adam woke up in a dream-like state with a ghost hovering over him. The ghost offered Adam power. "I can give you power. I want you to show them all. Show them all what you can do." She was also saying at the same time that she wants to show everyone what SHE can do. Adam asked her what she gets out of it. Ash is also in the room, hiding in a closet. Nobody sees anything though. Adam is being visited by a ghost in his dream. Back track to [[The Hidden Rabbit]]. I talk to the Bucklers. - They're looking defiant - They're the crazy ones, risking their lives the most. They can actually die if they don't do their acts right. - They're in shape because they need to be. They're athletic. - They're in their 20s and 30s mostly. - One of them who has short-cropped/balding hair and a mustache talks to me. Says they're braver than their average magician. He's been doing this for a decade and shows me his scars. His name's André. - The water tank is the last part of his act. It's not all in the water though. - What's their secret? A woman answers. She's imposing in her own way (like a sumo wrestler) - not lithe and agile, but more solid and unmoving. "What she offered us was not particularly compelling. We don't need someone else's tricks to improve our act. We're already as exciting as we need to be." Dawn. The succubus didn't seem to know a lot about them or what they do or how they do it. - There are six of them there. André, the oldest, said she came to him late and didn't really try very hard with him. - The ghost was wearing old-fashioned, about 50 years out of date. Back to Adam! [[Margaretta]] aka Maggie is the ghost's name. Margaretta doesn't want to answer what she gets out of it, but Adam knows that she's getting something tangible out of it. Something specific. Adam says that he thinks that people have died from saying yes to her power. She says "They were weak. You're stronger than them. You know you are. You've known you were desperate for weakness. I've been giving chances to people and they've been unable to show their true worth. If they had the power, skill, and heart for it, they could. Don't you have these things?" Adam asks what's meant to happen if it does work right. "I want you to show the world what you can really do. You are more than base hucksters with shallow tricks. You all have real power within you and I'm trying to have you let it out and build it into something greater." He Reads that she's absolutely lying in saying it's about magicians' true potential. It's about something else. Adam says "I'm ready. Show me this gift." She reaches into his head and tells him that at the end, his show will amaze the world. Ash realises that Adam now contains Bleed within him. The spell summons something larger. If the spell goes off, Adam will definitely die. It's not meant to be survivable. The spell is the beginning of a chain reaction. There is a Lens effect at play here too. The Lens here is all the magicians. Adam sets them off and something happens. The Lens is focused on a warehouse in [[The Steel]]. We go to the warehouse first! - Nondescript warehouse in the Steel. - We break into the warehouse, but the warehouse is empty on the first floor. - On the second floor, there's a lot of stuff strewn there. There's even an ornate crypt in the centre of the room. The bleed is emanating from there. There's a large orrery in the crypt. It's an orrery of this solar system. (Similar planets to ours but not.) - Adam slips three or four books in his pocket. They are mostly occult books. - I see props from regular stage magic strewn around. Most of them are damaged one way or another--chopped up, exploded, has holes in them. There are relics there that feel prop-like, but they're not for stage magician shows. They're the kinds of things one would use for eldritch magic rituals. Occult paraphernalia. - There's a name on the crypt: `Fox`. This is Margaretta's last name. There are three sisters. - In the middle are three sisters, in the pride of place: Margaretta, Catherine, Leah. The higher levels of bleed are coming from Margaretta's space on the shelf. - There's a yellowed piece of paper on one corner of the crypt. In an elegant hand, there is part of a series of instructions. The steps on it are `Close the vault. Lock the first floor doors. Lock the second floor doors.` They're steps for what to do upon the death of Margaretta Fox. - Margaretta was prepared for after death ritualistically. This is the source of the ghost. It looks like she set this up herself before her death. Ash does a *remote viewing* ritual that Tarrin sees. She sees that Margaretta Fox was the last one to die. She sees the bodies of other members of the family being brought in, supervised by Margaretta. Then Margaretta is brought in. Years go by. The power here, the Bleed, is being gathered by the symbology and the props all around here, like a raincatcher. It takes a long time for it to gather to a tipping point. Then the ghost rises.
