## Log
Tanaka put a bomb in the engine basically. She wanted to stop the ship from being taken back because she doesn't want people to get information (including us). In [[The Far Horizon]], a black circle appears. [[Dr William G Weir]] shows up.
The bomb isn't big enough to blow up the whole ship or the hull. It's just meant to damage the engines in a way so that they couldn't be repaired.
Dr. Weir says "Hello, everyone". There's a rumble from the rear as the bomb goes off. Smoke comes out of the engine room.
Weir looks concerned. (He's a muckity muck. He's famous in Newfaire. He was the one who lobbied to get funding for this Far Horizon mission to investigate the potential causes of The Shiver. He's a public figure and a doctor. He left with The Far Horizon and was acting as its captain. Adam read through his journal but hasn't shared yet what he learned from it. It was a fairly big deal that he left and there were stories in the paper and everything.) He doesn't look normal. He has a lot of ice on him. He looks kind of half frozen. He doesn't look like he's in discomfort or distress. He's emanating Bleed like a motherfucker though.
I go to Tarrin and ask Weir to stand back and that we have some questions. In the cargo hold with me are: Weir, Skip, Carter, Dwayne. Dwayne has his gun out and is pointing it at Weir. "Was it you who contacted us? We were waiting so long to hear from someone here. We've been preparing for so long. I need to thank whoever it was that contacted us to tell us it was safe to come back."
I lie and say that it WAS us after all that did the ritual. I ask him where he was all this time. I say it's not safe for him to come closer just now.
I say that I remember when he set off for his journey and I was impressed by how the news coverage of it inspired me to be a journalist because it showed me the power of the written word. It strokes his ego and he stops to answer my questions.
Jared was in the hallway outside the cargo hold. Jared is told by Cooper that Tanaka killed Mary and destroyed the engine. Jared wants to get onto the deck and get off the ship. Detective Walsh is trying to get into a door and doesn't want to go up to the deck. Jared runs into Tanaka at the deck then goes down to see Ash.
Ash sees Walsh still fiddling with the door. Tanaka says "we can't let what's behind this door get out". Tanaka says there's a connection to the beyond that must be severed and never be allowed to open again. Walsh says "It's unfortunate that a member of your team has to be sacrificed." It's meeee! Walsh seems like he could be convinced to save me, but Tanaka is super committed to even killing herself is she needs to.
Walsh has a secret: he's never been in the sunlight! There's one obscure group that wasn't invited to be in this mission. They're very secretive. They're [[The Unabridged]]. They're immortal. They've used magick to give themselves agelessness. They also don't possess shadows. Walsh is not actually part of the [[Periphery's Office of Unexplained Phenomena|OUP]]. This is why it matters so much to him to die-- he wouldn't die otherwise. He will do anything to live, even if that means killing Tanaka.
Tanaka lunges for Ash, and Ash convinces Walsh to shoot her. He does, and she's killed!
Adam is on the deck. He sees the spray of the sea all around him. Captain Miller is there. Adam tells him about the bomb on the ship and that we need to evacuate. Cooper is there too. The Captain says to give him one good reason not to detach the ship and just go home, leaving the creepy shit behind him.
Ash steps into the cargo hold.
Weir says:
- He's the emissary of the stars.
- He's here not just with a message. He's here to help, and he brought friends.
Weir, as Dwayne and Tarrin shoot him, is revealed to be the grotesque creature that he is.
Calcifer talks to Adam. Calcifer says that if Adam had let him open the portal, he wouldn't have had Weir come through. Calcifer convinces Adam to go through the portal!
Adam is on one of the two moons of the Bride (?!). Gray is the dominant colour of the Far Horizon and black is the dominant colour of space, though there's an air bubble so he can breathe. There are spiders and a building on this side. Dr. White and Aroha are there. Adam tries to pull them back through the portal again.
Dr. White wants to stay and learn from them. Aroha tries to take something back (a spear?) from one of the spiders. Calcifer tells Adam "Help her." Adam does! He gets hurt putting his hand outside the air bubble. Aroha slips and falls into the ocean and Calcifer says to Adam, "You're welcome."
Adam joins us on the boat and we leave the Vastchasm.
