Full success! At one point, someone was preying on Circle operatives but nobody found out because nobody was talking because of the secrecy. So now the policy is to be a bit more lax and encourage Circles to talk to each other even though there's a tradeoff. - There are 2-3 other [[Lightkeeper Jezebel Moore]] has that she's let us know about. - [[Velma]] from Scooby Doo. Glasses, sweater. Nerdy, a little standoffish. She's not disliked-- she's cheerful in a way that can be obnoxious. She's flattered that I'm talking to her and am interested in her. She wants to talk to me about snails. I have to listen to that for a bit but at some point. - Her circle members are: Scoobs, Daphne, Fred, Shaggy. Daphne and Fred are the leaders. They're the most poised and knowledgeable and professional. Shaggy and Scoobs are the muscle? They are the Circle of Mystery and Mayhem. - The cases they've been dealing with have been smaller than ours. We've gone broad pretty quickly. A lot of their things were bookkeeping things or chasing down false leads. They haven't really had cases with [[The Lens Effect]]. I realise that it can't be a coincidence that we have dealt with it over and over again. It strikes me as a little off that Jezebel hasn't pushed us for more details about the Lens Effect. - I ask [[John Lyons]] if Jezebel's name has come up in any investigations. But they don't have anything. I ask him to follow her and find some information out-- whom does she spend time with? Whom does she love? Where is her home? - Another Circle, [[The Monster Hunters]]: a guy that his circle members call [[The General]]. He's not the leader of the Circle, but he's the strategist. He can't get into the fight the way he used to and is more knowledgeable. Opposite of Velma. Tight-lipped, doesn't really want to talk about it. He's like the Face of the group. He deals with people and coordinates and is the weakest link. I appeal to the strategist in him and convince him to pool information so that we can make more of a difference. - He says a lot of it comes from "down below": [[Oldfaire]]. The people who go down there tend to find stuff and coem back with them. That's a danger. We're basically on top of (sort of a nuclear fallout zone). "We should never have tried to build a new city on top of the old." That's the job though-- protecting people from the magick, from the void. He'll do it for as long as he can. - The missions he's been sent off have been isolated. He hasn't heard about the Lens Effect either. - They've been specializing in the most violent, dangerous of the creatures that have crossed over through [[The Flare]]. Dealing with them, cleaning up after them. The Lens Effect being able to magnify things is concerning to him because the thing that has been saving them is that the incursions have been bounded. A Lens Effect might allow larger creatures or more creatures to come through and overwhelm our defenses. The only thing that would hold back those defenses would be the [[Astrolabe]]s. - 5/30 segments complete. Tarrin and Ash go to: [[Dalida Bar & Restaurant]], a place in [[The Varnish]]. - They meet [[The Phoenix Gang]] there! - [[Madam Lia Fidovich|Madam Fidovich]] is dead. They'd dealt with her but didn't really get close with her. - [[Lily Sinclair|Lily]] talks the most. [[Sadie Cavendish|Sadie]] kind of hangs back. Madam Fidovich was having them retrieve a bunch of items without really telling them why, and then she stopped corresponding with them and they were left to their own devices. Sadie was really good at puzzles. There were some random items they were left with. None of them were single pieces. They were like puzzle pieces. They realised they could be combined into another mechanical bird. [[004_20240324 Prophecy of Birds|The Prophecy of Birds]] was something they had heard and they had birds on the brain, but then when they put the pieces together, there was another prophecy: a metal pyramid called [[The Last Redoubt]]. They started to dream about it and have visions. One of their group, [[Leopold Maxwell|Mustache]], has experience with holding memories that are not his own. He knows the visions are memories of another life. Maybe an earlier life. They think they lived not on this earth where we're at now. A planet that was in the midst of an incursion of [[Bleed]] that they could not stop. In order to save their people, they built what they called *redoubts*: vast buildings that would protect them from Bleed. But ultimately they failed one by one until there was only one redoubt left. They think we need to get to it. The society and world was more technological than this one is. Oldfaire had a high technology society based on Magick and Bleed destroyed them. It's only now that Newfaire is starting to build a society without using magick. The society went way further than Oldfaire did. They had instruments that recorded how the incursions turned into something that overwhelmed the entire planet. From what we've told them about "The Great Dark", this other place lost that battle with The Great Dark. So it might be good to find out more information about that. ![[cosm-solar-system.png]] Instead of Venus used to be a green planet called The Gardener but it went dark a long time ago. It disappeared. That's why people called it The Vanished. What astronomers have discovered using calculations regarding gravity is that The Vanished is not actually gone-- its presence is still seen in the movement of other planets. We just can't see it. The visions they're having are of The Gardener while it was being changed into The Vanished. The people whose lives they were living were part of a group kind of like Candela Obscura that believed in magick. The group was called [[People of the Eye]]. They were not technologists. They were the ones that saw that they could reach out across space and attempt to communicate with others when they realised that things were going wrong. They wanted to warn the people of Earth ("The Child") before they died. A lot of the "prophecies" that have been discovered might be attempts to get this information across. [[Box of Suffering]] might have been trying to prime us to receive this information. We have to go to The Vanished and go to The Last Redoubt. Their last memory was of the [[Astrolabe]]s shutting down. There might have been people that were causing these events and *trying* to do this. [[The Fourth Pharos]] is the first one that has had astrolabes. Ash has apparently been going for many years with a ~~demon~~ patron inside him. (What?) - The thing has promised him it'll tell him how to bring back his wife [[Celeste Voss|Celeste Voss]]. Now it's telling him details. Now is the time. Here's the way to do it. This is going to be a project for Ash. This is just a five-segment project. He finishes 2/5. He gathers all the ingredients. We can roll for our projects once per downtime session. ![[cosm-timeline-of-the-fairelands.png]] %% # Excalidraw Data ## Text Elements ## Drawing ```json {"type":"excalidraw","version":2,"source":"https://github.com/zsviczian/obsidian-excalidraw-plugin/releases/tag/2.0.25","elements":[],"appState":{"theme":"dark","gridSize":null,"viewBackgroundColor":"#ffffff"}} ``` %%
