# [[The Lens Effect]]

The Lens Effect is a new [[Magick]]al phenomenon that [[Circle of Smoke and Mirrors]] has seen a few times now. It involves the focusing of magickal energies in a way that increases its intensity.
## Disrupting a Lens Effect in theory
[[Eric Birtwistle]] used his *Occult Researcher* ability to find out that there are two ways to disrupt a Lens Effect:
1. Break up the focus of the Lens by finding the item or person that the magick is using as a conduit and destroying it.
2. Creating something that scatters the Lens Effect (such as the [[Prism of Disruption]]) or contains it (such as an [[Astrolabe]]).
## In practice
- [[Case 1 - The Conqueror Worm]]: In [[The Twilight Theatre]], the best performer was the focus and the entire theatre was the Lens. The emotions and creativity and passion of the performers brought about [[The Conqueror Worm]].
- [[Case 2 - A Murder of Crows]]: In [[Aberdeen Cemetery]], the body of [[Ordo the Magnificent]] was the focus, and the magick allowed Ordo's soul to possess crows.
- In [[South Soffit]], a Lens was created by using magickal leylines that intersected at the base of [[The Oak]], the central pillar. Someone built this pentagram into the architecture of South Soffit on purpose.
