# [[008_20210103 Three Earrings Buys the Rod]]
## Session Summary
Ora found a golden ring in her bed, probably left behind by Bryn. When she showed it to Lira and Boris, Lira held up a hand with a matching golden ring. Lira said that it's the symbol of a faction called the Golden Grin, a group of entertainers that seek to right wrongs through subtle means.
The Plank King summoned us to the Throne Roost to tell us he's found a buyer for the rod. To our surprise, the buyer is Three Earrings. With the Plank King's blessing, and approval, Three Earrings wants to find the ruins of an underwater temple to Uk'otoa. She said there had previously been a woman, Avantika, that was seeking it out as a means to overthrow the Plank King. Three Earrings, and the Plank King, said that they want to put this to rest and seek out the source of Selachai's powers. We also got 500 gp from helping CTE get the rod and divided it among us.
Lira asked the Plank King if she could be sent Bryn that night, and he agreed to ask Bryn. He also asked Lira to stay back a bit after dismissing the others, which she did. Afterwards, Lira told Boris and Ora that the Plank King had offered her gold if she could tell him information that proved Three Earrings was not loyal to him.
As they were leaving the Throne Roost, an older woman rushed in to see the Plank King. She seemed distraught, but judging from how the guards reacted (or didn't react) to her intrusion, she seemed to be familiar to the Plank King. Later, while Lira and Ora were out shopping and trading secrets, they came across the older woman again on the streets of the Sundry Square. She told them that she thinks her daughter, Asari, has been captured.
Boris stayed with Dragen, the blacksmith, and his wife Pixie, to see what he could learn from the goliath about making metal tools. ^summary

## Recap
![[007_20201227 Level 3 training at Darktow#^summary]]
## Strong start
> Ora, you wake up with the lingering feel of a soft kiss still on cheek, a memory of a relaxing night after the +day's adventures. Bryn is nowhere to be seen, but something digs into your thigh as you get up. It's a golden ring, engraved !with what looks like a parenthesis.
- Ask Boris and Ora for their passive perception vs Lira's stealth to see if they hear her sneaking in early in the morning. She has exhaustion and has disadvantage on ability checks.
## Scenes
- [x] A message awaits you downstairs. The barkeep hands you a letter from the Plank King: __Come to the Roost. I have good news. Three Earrings will meet you here.__
- [x] It's a beautiful day in Darktow, a day that proves the exact opposite of the island's name. As you go out into the streets, some people are singing loudly, obviously intoxicated but not drunk-- which is odd considering that if your experience is anything to go by, Revelry members drink, eat, and lodge for free.
- [x] [[Silva]] teaches [[Ora]]: ([[Soulknife]])
- Psionic Energy Dice: 4 d6, can be used for the abilities below
> Psi-Bolstered knack: When you fail an ability check using a skill or tool you have proficiency in, roll a Psionic Energy die to add the number to the check."
> Psychic Whispers: Telepathic communication with up to `proficiency bonus` creatures for `number rolled` hours within a mile."
- [ ] Boris learns his new abilities through pitfighting:
- Divine Fury
> Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level, you can channel divine fury into your weapon strikes. While you’re raging, the first creature you hit on each of your turns with a weapon attack takes extra damage equal to 1d6 + half your barbarian level. The extra damage is necrotic or radiant; you choose the type of damage when you gain this feature.
- Warrior of the Gods (3rd)
> At 3rd level, your soul is marked for endless battle. If a spell, such as [raise dead](https://www.dndbeyond.com/spells/raise-dead), has the sole effect of restoring you to life (but not undeath), the caster doesn’t need material components to cast the spell on you.
- [x] The Plank King gives them 500 gp and introduces them to the rod's new owner: CTE.
- [x] The Plank King will pull Lira aside and offer her gold to report anything suspicious about CTE. He'll also ask her quietly to reconsider his offer "last night" (to stay on as part of his harem).
