# [[010_20210117 Downtime and preparing for Urukayxl]] ## Session Summary In CTE's room, Ora questions Dajarkal about why she's there. Dajarkal tells her that she's just found out that her brother Hardrak is dead-- just before a spear erupts from her chest, thrown by one of three sahuagins that have entered the room from the open window. Boris and Lira enter the fight in time to see the sahuagin magic-user muttering an arcane spell and pointing towards a corner of the room, which causes the other two sahuagin to go in that direction. However, the party handily defeats them. CTE reveals that she can speak Sahuagin, due to her growing up on Palma Flora, and that she had made the Rod of Retribution invisible. Somehow, the sahuagin still managed to find it. She said she would need to find a more secure way of hiding it. Lira tells Ora and Boris that Bryn was asked by the Golden Grin to prevent Uk'otoa from regaining power. She gave Lira a bag of holding and asked her to put CTE's orb into it to avoid detection if we think CTE wants to unleash Uk'otoa. During Lira's downtime, she learns that the leviathan, Uk'otoa, was one of the most devout followers of an ancient god named Zehir, the Cloaked Serpent. Zehir is the god of poisons, assassins, and darkness. He is the creator of snakes and serpentkind. However, Zehir, along with other gods, was sealed off from this world following cataclysmic events, leaving Uk'otoa to rise in power. Somehow Uk'otoa was imprisoned, but his followers are looking for a way to release him. She also finds a navigator for the Wavechaser: Orly Skiffback, the bard captain that had brought Lira and Boris to Palma Flora. During Ora's downtime, she manages to earn quite a bit of money by gambling, and spends nights training with Silva. For Boris's downtime, he manages to create a breastplate that Dragen is happy with, which sells for 250 gp. Dragen also gifts Boris with an old anvil. CTE finds Jamedi, a dirty human-looking scout, who can replace Dajarkal on the crew. Jamedi was hired by Avantika to do reconnaissance at Urukayxl and knows better about what to expect. ^summary ## Housekeeping If there's anything you want to add to your backstory, even now after we've started, talk to me about it. I've put your backstory on DND Beyond so you can read it there. You may also want to take a few notes here and there ## Recap ![[009_20210110 Asari's Mother#^summary]] ## Strong start > Ora, you've just been invited into [[Captain Three Earrings]]'s room. [[Dajarkal]], in her usual half-orc form, says: > I used the money from the Concord to hire someone to scry on [[Hardrak]]. He just sent word to me. Hardrak is dead! My brother is dead! ## Scenes - [x] Dajarkal will explain that she had never met her brother, and that her mother had only told Dajarkal about him before she killed herself. The only thing she had of his was something she'd found among her mother's possessions, a pendant with a bloody tooth. She's going to try to find the slavers that took her, and her mother. - [x] Dajarkal will stop and cock her head like a bird, as if listening to something nobody else can hear. Just then a spear will erupt from her chest as she falls towards CTE, hand outstretched, and a sahuagin will be behind her. The sahuagin will try to make for the rod of retribution, which is invisible in a corner. CTE reveals she speaks Sahuagin. - [x] Boris and Lira join the fight. - Divine Fury > Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level, you can channel divine fury into your weapon strikes. While you’re raging, the first creature you hit on each of your turns with a weapon attack takes extra damage equal to 1d6 + half your barbarian level. The extra damage is necrotic or radiant; you choose the type of damage when you gain this feature. - Warrior of the Gods (3rd) > At 3rd level, your soul is marked for endless battle. If a spell, such as __[raise dead](https://www.dndbeyond.com/spells/raise-dead)__, has the sole effect of restoring you to life (but not undeath), the caster doesn’t need material components to cast the spell on you. - Initiative - CTE - Dajarkal - Sahuagin warlcok - Sahuagins - Lira - Boris - Ora - HP - Dajarkal: 18/27 - warlock: - [x] After the fight - Dajarkal leaves? if she's ok, otherwise CTE will let her stay. - If asked, CTE reveals she speaks Sahuagin because she grew up on Palma Flora, and sahuagin killed her parents. That's why the Plank King thinks she won't make the same mistake that Avantika did, and fall prey to the lure of power. - The Plank King wants her to destroy the orb. She's willing to do it for a favor. She's not like Avantika - she doesn't want to rule. She just wants to be left alone to do whatever she pleases. - [x] [[Lira]] tells [[Ora]] and [[Boris]] about her encounter with [[Bryn]]. Ora might catch Bryn sneaking out. - Bryn had left the ring on purpose when she'd spotted it on Lira's finger at the Throne Roost. The [[The Golden Grin]] had assigned her to prevent Uk'otoa from regaining power. She gave Lira a bag of holding and asked her to put CTE's orb into it to avoid detection if we think CTE wants to unleash [[Uk'otoa]]. - [x] CTE finds [[Jamedi Cosko]], who had been hired by Avantika to guide her and her crew to [[Urukayxl]]. CTE makes an agreement to pay him to do the same for us. - [x] Ora's downtime - Dragonchess set gambling: 3 x checks - DC 5: 25 gp - DC 10: 50 gp - DC 15: 75 gp - DC 20: 100 gp - 12 - 11 - 6, 125 total - 7 - - 18: 75 gp - === 275 gp - Silva asks you to be careful doing business for the Plank King.
