# [[032_20210801 A pirate ship of our very own]] ## Session Summary On the way to the southeastern coast of Rumblecusp, nicknamed "Shipwreck Beach", you came across a familiar creature from the volcano: the Magma Belcher Basilisk, grinding on rocks and belching out hot lava while eating, but seemingly quite docile otherwise. You also came across the ruins of a wreck that Ora identified as a crashed airship. Sifting through the ruins, you found a large red gem, a brumestone that, according to Ora, was used to enchant regular ships and turn them into airships. However, its magic seems to be long dead, perhaps damaged in the crash. Continuing on, you were almost surprised by what seemed like three different creatures but instead turned out to be a single dire troll with three heads and a mishmash of body parts. Despite its regenerative capabilities and a strike on Ora that made her unconscious, you prevailed, finding a pair of Boots of False Tracks on one of its mutated legs. Making your way towards the coast, you spotted a wooden bridge going to a very nearby island. Within its caves you spotted 11 ships in better condition, including a rowboat that looked like it was good to go. As you entered, you spotted a ship leaving the shores of Rumblecusp in the distance, flags unfurled to signal that they were from the Kryn Dynasty. Rifling through the ruins of each ship, you did encounter a thick, shiny, silver ring that seemed untarnished despite the general state of disrepair of the ship it was on, the Beautiful Revenge. While on board the Drunken Jester, a galley that seemed to have been unusually (for its size) decked out for fishing, Boris came face-to-face with three bird-like creatures that seemed to have been feasting on the contents of a net. Just before we could begin the fight, Boris received a message from an aide of the Plank King, noting that Three Earrings had not responded, and asking when he can expect his share of the dragon's hoard. ^summary %% https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dEksjSf4co8 %% ## Housekeeping - I told you Kijori was the carpenter, but he was one of the crew that had stayed behind in Darktow. He was the previous navigator, but Orly replaced him. It was Boerth who taught Ora carpentry on the long voyage to Urukayxl. - [x] Who has the new dragonborn? Is Qresk still following us? - Ora, are you still in CTE form? (If not, see if the party realizes that her form is similar to Jannika's form, just younger) - [x] I decided Lira won't create a stronghold. I want to distance myself a bit from her and treat her like any other NPC, like Jamedi. So you have more money! - [x] I cancelled my other Sunday game, so we can play longer every Sunday. ## Recap ![[031_20210705 Choosing a side#^summary]] ## References [[Shipwreck Beach]] ## Strong start > After learning that you were going in search of ships, a handful of villagers have followed you. Among them are former crew members of the Wavechaser: Orly, whose help you specifically requested; Boerth, the handsome, dark-skinned carpenter; Amber Battlehammer, the stoic, red-headed master gunner; and Dillyu the goblin. Among the villagers, you also spot the fiery beard of Flint, who is doing his best to bond with a very quiet, but hopeful, Little Finger. > You pass the kobold encampment at the base of the volcano, still empty and showing no sign of kobolds. Around the eastern side of the volcano, the terrain begins to change as forest gives way to a more rocky landscape. There's still bushes and trees and slight elevation changes that prevent you from seeing everything up ahead, but on your right side, on the southern coast, you see ships. ## Scenes - [x] Encounter 1: ask player to roll a d20 and roll on "The Great Outdoors" table from Game Master's Book of Random Encounters - [x] Encounter 2: roll on [[Shipwreck Beach]] table - [x] Getting to [[Shipwreck Beach]] - [x] End: [[Johann]] sends [[Boris]] a message on behalf of the [[Plank King]]: _Message from Plank King: Three Earrings did not respond. Afraid you had failed. When can I expect my share of the dragon's hoard? 30%._ ## Secrets and Clues - [ ] Three Earrings was contacted by Johann every night. She had been informing him of their activities, conveniently leaving out her own allegiance to a god of the sea. She told the Plank King about the dragon. - [ ] The form Ora wears is bears a striking resemblance to Jannika's human form-- she has subconsciously created herself in the image of Jannika's human form. - [ ] [[Trent Ikithon]] was grooming Ora and Lin to be part of his Scourgers, his personal elite force. Some of the training was to implant keywords that he can use to trigger certain behaviors and abilities so he could control them after previous failed attempts. - [ ] There are intelligent denizens of Rumblecusp who have somehow avoided the mind-altering mist. They have grown accustomed to villagers travelling back from Shipwreck Beach and will not harm them if not harmed. - [ ] The carcass of Lightning the dragon turtle, Thunder's mother, lies underneath Shipwreck Caves, mortally wounded by a ship full of explosives that were set off by a vengeful (and unaffected by the mist) captain that went down with her ship. - [x] Airships are rare in Exandria, and the only city that has them in Wildemount is Port Damali, where the [[Skyport]] is maintained by [[The Farrimonds]] in conjunction with their long-time partners, the [[Alsfarin Union]]. - [ ] A darkness has come over the northwestern side of the island, where a strange tree has sapped all the color out of the surrounding vegetation and is slowly spreading its influence. ([[The Shaded Tangle]]) - [ ] The large fey tree that the party once took shelter in is a Fey Crossing. Fey Crossings let people travel from the Prime Material Plane to the Feywild, but only under certain conditions (time of day, season, weather). - [ ] Followers of the Luxon are not afraid of death when they are near a beacon, but they do fear death away from one as they will not be reincarnated. - [ ] Boris's mote of possibility and divine fury is distinctly dunamantic. Dunamancy is a school of magic known only to Xhorhasians, and in particular the drow wizards of Rosohna. ## NPCs People who went with them from Vo: - [ ] [[Orly Skiffback]] will give tattoos - Ruby dust: +1 Strength (2200gp) - Emerald dust: +1 Dexterity (2200gp) - Diamond dust: +1 Constitution (2500gp) - Jade dust: +1 Wisdom (2200gp) - Sapphire dust: +1 Intelligence (2200gp) - Aquamarine dust: +1 Charisma (2200gp) - Fire Opal dust: Fire resistance (5000gp) - Black Sapphire dust: Cold resistance (5000gp) - [ ] [[Orly Skiffback]] - [ ] [[Boerth]] - [ ] [[Amber Battlehammer]] - [ ] [[Dillyu]] - [ ] [[Flint]] and [[Little Finger]] ## Monsters - [ ] ## [[Loot]] - [ ] --- ## Log Start: 11:30 Boots of False Tracks - loot from dire troll 14:30 8 hours with Lira, Jamedi, Boris (until 22:30) Ring of endless ball bearings -- from Beautiful Revenge.
