# [[034_20210821 The Town of the Forgotten]] ## Session Summary > [!abstract] [[034_20210821 The Town of the Forgotten]] > After we destroyed the map mimic, we kept going towards the Village of Vo. Jannika met us there and told us that she'd sent a trio of druids to scout the island: Vari, Chelrey, and Raga. After some investigating, Boris convinced Chelrey and Raga to join us as scouts the next day, and was also told that Flint was the best person to join the party. Hektor returned from his journey to the volcano, unsuccessful at destroying the Will of the Talon. Flint agreed to join the party. Ora found her first follower: a theurgist named Thrinvar, christened "Nav". Nav spent the night reading Boris's book about the Arms of the Betrayers. > > The next day, Nav relayed what she had learned from the book. Then, the party made the trek towards the Weirding Falls with Flint, Thrinvar, Chelrey, and Raga. Thrinvar broke off with some of the other villagers to head towards Shipwreck Caves, as she was tasked by Ora to examine the runes. > > At the waterfalls, Boris found a small cavern behind the water, and befriended a carbuncle, a panther/bird hybrid with a gem in its forehead. Ora made friends with it, and it eagerly ferried the party up the tall cliffs. > > Venturing into the thick fog that obscured everything and each other, we suddenly found ourselves surrounded by strangers who seemed to have no problem seeing past the fog. After a few tense moments, they welcomed us to the Town of the Forgotten. > > Among the people in the town were Aruun, the dwarven leader; Sybel, the head of the guard; the timid Glatur, a woman who seemed to have created the fog; and Gare, a man who said his crew had been shipwrecked on the northern coast. The Town was filled with paladins whose worship of Melora gave them an immunity to Mother Krangor's mist of forgetfulness. As we bedded down for the night, Ora stayed up to read her book alone-- or, at least, alone until she came face to face with the sahuagin from the fight with the harpies. Are you still CTE? ## Recap ![[033_20210807 The Harpies#^summary]] ## Strong start > We trekked from Shipwreck Beach to the beginnings of the northeastern side of the island, where things went from green to gray and the stink of decay was everywhere. Running away from the mushroom-looking things and deciding to head towards the village, we stopped when Boris noticed a map lying against one of the tree trunks along the way. He pointed it out to the party. And now we watch as Ora picks up the map, makes a face as soon as her fingers touch the map, but continues to bring her face closer, as if to read some small text-- and then suddenly the map comes alive in her hands and wraps itself around her head. > Ora, you felt like you were making some progress reading the map - it seemed like there was a path to be followed, and a large X... but as you lean forward to get a closer look, the writing changes suddenly to a tooth. Then a tongue, then a mouth. And suddenly this fleshy _thing_ in your hands is ON YOUR FACE, and you hear the rubbing sound of skin-on-skin as it starts to seal off the air around your mouth and nose. You are blinded and deafened, and you are beginning to suffocate. > However, because you were not surprised, you get a turn. Every now and then you pause, but it's just the breeze blowing past the trees and the occasional creak of wood and bark. - [ ] [[Swamp Lily]] encounter - A large, delicate-looking flower perches on top of a mound. Its petals sway in the wind, oversized. It would be beautiful if it wasn't affected by the color-seeping effect of this area. - You feel the wind shift a bit, and suddenly the unmistakable smell of food hits your nostrils. - As people get within 60 feet of it, everyone needs to make a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or becomes charmed by the lily. ## Secrets and Clues - [x] Dragonleaf trees are a thing of legend, and bonding with one is something every dragon longs for. A dragonleaf tree bonded to a dragon has a symbiotic relationship: the dragon prunes it and protects it, and the dragonleaf tree offers the dragon escape - its dragon can always teleport to it. - [ ] [[ttrpgs/The Slayers Five/Tiamat]] imprisoned [[Vokodo]] in the volcano, tasking him to guard the orb. She did not know he had a dragontree leaf that was teleported with him. - [ ] [[Mother Krangor]] was here before Vokodo and the dragonleaf tree was-- she merely jumped at the chance to use religion to unite the kobolds. - [ ] The magic that Boris and Ora were cursed with will cause them to change abilities in the presence of the dragonleaf tree. They'll have to figure that out. - [ ] The form Ora wears is bears a striking resemblance to Jannika's human form-- she has subconsciously created herself in the image of Jannika's human form. - [x] There are intelligent denizens of Rumblecusp who have somehow avoided the mind-altering mist. They live on the other side of the wizarding water. - [ ] A castle once stood in [[The Shaded Tangle]], but all its inhabitants were killed in the rift that brought [[Vokodo]] and the dragontree to Rumblecusp. - [x] Rumblecusp has the unique privilege of somehow standing in the convergence of several arcane ley lines that hold planes apart. As such, it contains several portals that appear, seemingly randomly, to other places and sometimes other planes. - [x] The Arms of the Betrayers are sentient weapons that contain parts of the Betrayer gods themselves. It was all they could do to reach across the Divine Gate. Each Arm seeks to accomplish objectives their makers had. They can grant powers, which can sometimes be enough to turn enterprising souls evil. - [ ] [[ttrpgs/The Slayers Five/The Luxon]] is an ancient entity that supposedly transcends even gods. They ultimately want to be reassembled because once they are, they will be able to ask themselves what they are. ## [[Loot]] --- ## Log Start: 14:00. They defeat the map mimic and get the map leading to the mines. In Vo: They asked [[Jannika]] to ask around for information on the curse, and on the ruins. [[Vari]]: long face, auburn eyes, brown hair - one of druids who scouted the island. Texan belle. The party asked her for information on where things are. Break Immy's d100: 10 Theurgist (3rd level) Thrinarv aka [[Thrinarv]]: ![[theurgist.png]] Put this on D&D Beyond for Immy. 15:00 Ora: 26 perception: information on curse and on the dragontree Thrinarv half dwarf half human Ora asked Thrinarv to go to see the cursed ship. Boris found out that [[Flint]] is a good person to join us. He has healing powers. He convinced the three druids to scout ahead. [[Vari]], [[Chelrey Gary]], [[Raga Thaengedotr]]. Thrinarv will read the Arms of the Betrayers book. She will be called "Nav" from now on 17:00 Flint will join the party. [[Hektor]] gets the book: Arms of the Betrayer Gods. Ora gets 5 hours of reading out of 48 in six days. Boris makes a javelin. Next day - Day 29 Psychic Whispers: Boris, Lira, Carbuncle for 5 hours 13:00 when they got to the falls human light brown eyes : Jester accent, from Raga. 15:00 they get to the top of the cliff [[Sybel]] - Na'krasha red hair eyes. She is the leader of the guard. [[Gare]] - british. He was shipwrecked by Lightning, not Thunder. He has been to the ruins in the north.
