As you explored what remained of her cottage, you found some interesting items in a potion cabinet, an undead cat that ran away as soon as it was let go, and a curious brass tablet hanging on the doorknob of the little mouse-trap door beneath the potions cabinet. You also came across two lornlings, who felt utterly lost without Bavlorna to guide them, and they gave up some information without a fight-- that Bavlorna had a mirror downstairs, in the pool, that she used to go back to the Witchlight Carnival or send other lornlings into it. Boris wandered onto the west balcony, and heard the sounds of someone swimming away from the north. Lira cast _Fly_ on Ora, and Ora jumped out of the window, even more gracefully and deftly than normal, and followed the sounds of the splashing until she saw, to her surprise, a creature that looked exactly like her, but holding a gnarled staff, talking to the bullywug king, Gullop XIX. Ora, still hidden among the fog, reached out with her Rope of Climbing and managed to snatch the staff out of her doppelganger's grasp. The creature turned and saw Ora there, through the fog, and began to cast something under her breath. ^summary --- ## Housekeeping ## Recap ![[050_20220206 Slack-Jawed Lorna#^summary]] ## Strong start > Boris, who's looking more tired than he has been in a long time, has just taken a deep breath, steadied his stance, and attacked Bavlorna with a fury even he didn't know he had, causing her jowls to slowly retreat, keeping her from damaging him. > A few things happen after this attack. Firstly, Ora, the prickling feeling that's been on your skin heats up and vanishes, and the lornling that's in front of you seems to stagger from an unknown force. Your muscles flex instinctively-- you're out of your paralysis. > Secondly, at the sight of Bavlorna beginning to falter for the first time in the fight, the witch-like creature wearing a hat narrows her eyes speculatively as her quick eyes take in the situation and she turns the glowing fire she's been nursing towards Bavlorna. > Jamedi notices the pulsing arcane shield around her form fizzles away, and she opens her palm towards Bavlorna Blightstraw and five streaks of fire almost consume each of her fingertips, and then shoot out. > Bavlorna braces herself against the onslaught and ducks down. Two of them whizz past her head and Boris, you can feel the heat and hear them make contact with the wall behind you. Three of them, though, leave scorch marks on Bavlorna.
