# [[056_20220403 Butter makes it better]] ## Session Summary > [!tldr] Summary - [[056_20220403 Butter makes it better]] > > You stopped by to talk to King Gullop XIX before you left Downfall for good, by way of the rain cloud balloon that the Grim Accord graciously let you use with them. Jamedi used _lightning lure_ to keep the balloon fuelled every time it seemed to be running out of energy. During the hour-long ride, the Grim Accord shared a map of Thither and pointed out Loomlurch, the home of the deceased Skabatha Nightshade. > > Along the way, you encountered a campestri, a mushroom that seemed to be buttering itself in preparation for a dinner with a friend, not knowing HE was the dinner. Ora was unable to turn away, and stayed until she met the goblin Kro'ah, who was perhaps taking advantage of the campestri to ease his own hunger. Ora gave him rations, and in return, he gave her a bit of candy. > > Meanwhile, the rest of the party (except for Ora, Irae, and Flint) went ahead to a fey crossing where a ring of campestris were dancing and singing around a portal. Just as Ora and the others arrived, the portal suddenly opened, and for a few seconds, you saw the familiar pulsing fey magic of the Elventree, in Rumblecusp. You got a chance to see a barometz next to it before the portal winked out. Ora let her new campestri friend rejoin his friends, and he gave her _heroism_ in exchange: a +5 temp HP every round for the next hour and immunity to _frightened_. > > You continued to Loomlurch, and soon came across a gigantic corrupted tree. You realized it was Loomlurch itself: somehow, the felled tree that had once been Skabatha's workshop was now awakened, and wreaking havoc, still with some screaming children inside it. > ^summary %% <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/diR8WhNgA4g" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> %% --- ## Housekeeping ## Recap ![[055_20220320 The Slayers' Accord#^summary]] ## Strong start - Items - Describe [[Elidon|the flying rocking horse]] - [Clockwork watch of Time Stop](https://www.dndbeyond.com/magic-items/4723818-clockwork-watch-of-time-stop) - Held heart feather token is with [[Athlonia]] > [!info] Description > A big black balloon floats over the lake, tugging at its moorings. Beneath it hangs a basket made of black wicker and wood, which serves as a merchant’s stall. A large pane of gray glass is drawn closed across an opening above the counter. A sign mounted above the window reads, “Wondrous Wares & Fair Fares!” > > The balloon is not made of fabric, but rather appears to be a roiling, dark rain cloud that has been contained somehow with lines and netting. > > As you stand in awe of this sight, the Grim Accord move on ahead and begin to get it ready for flight. Irae, at this point, has shapechanged into the familiar black-hatted woman you thought was the witch, and she kind of positions herself a bit away from the balloon, near some bullywugs who look over, curiously, and seem to engage her in conversation. > ## Scenes - [x] Journeying from [[Hither]] to [[Thither]] via rain cloud balloon - [x] The Grim Accord shares a map of what they know of [[Thither]] - [x] Arriving at [[Loomlurch]] and encountering a [[Corrupted Dragonleaf Tree]] wreaking havoc and attempting to harm the children leaving the workshop-- fight ensues with Grim Accord helping out > [!question]- Corrupted Dragonleaf Tree Fight > ```encounter > name: Encounter > party: The Slayers Five > players: > - Irae > - Athlonia > - Uldun > - Kryx > creatures: > - Corrupted Dragonleaf Tree > ``` - [ ] [[Will of the Feywild]] joins in the fight - [ ] Going to [[Wayward Pool]] ## Secrets and Clues - [x] The flying rocking horse is actually [[Elidon]]. If a unicorn horn is fitted into the depression on his brow, he turns back to his original form. - [ ] [[Will of the Feywild]] is not what he seems. He's actually a [toshigami](obsidian://open?vault=dnd-vault&file=monsters%2FKami%20-%20Toshigami). - [ ] Will used to be [[Skabatha Nightshade]]'s best kidnapper, but [[Endelyn Moongrave]] secretly cursed him to spite her sister, and his alignment changed to chaotic good. He's been the thorn in Skabatha's side since. - [ ] The [[Corrupted Dragonleaf Tree]] was what the hags used to switch the bodies of [[Topplepot|Diesa Torunn]] and [[Zybilna]]. When it is killed, she'll be back in her own body. - [ ] Irae didn't just "leave" [[ttrpgs/The Slayers Five/Palebank Village]]; she was exiled because of her destructive powers. - [ ] Athlonia is a follower of [[ttrpgs/The Slayers Five/The Luxon]]. If Boris shows her the [[ttrpgs/The Slayers Five/Luxon Beacon]], she will first try to convince him to come to Xhorhas with her and go through [[Anamnesis]]. If he refuses, she will do whatever she can to take it from him. - [ ] Uldun couldn't care less about [[ttrpgs/The Slayers Five/The Luxon]]. He's afraid of returning and facing all the responsibility of his former life. - [ ] [[Hardrak|Othrog the Titan-Knuckled]] has been unifying orc tribes in [[The Many Hosts of Igrathad]]. - [x] There is a unicorn in [[Wayward Pool]] who might know how to free people in stasis. - [ ] The [[Corrupted Dragonleaf Tree]] is linked to a [[Arkenox]] that is [[Zybilna]]'s pet. It can also take the form of a large singing bird. ## [[Loot]] - [x] [Candy treats](obsidian://open?vault=dnd-vault&file=inspiration%2FWild%20Beyond%20the%20Witchlight%2FLoomlurch) - [ ] A [spell scroll](https://www.dndbeyond.com/magic-items/spell-scroll) of [speak with plants](https://www.dndbeyond.com/spells/speak-with-plants) tucked in a side table drawer - [ ] Family portraits > [!question]- If they find the magical portraits > - A truly ancient and terrifying hag (Baba Yaga, the Mother of Witches) > - A toadish hag ([Bavlorna Blightstraw](https://www.dndbeyond.com/monsters/bavlorna-blightstraw), as depicted in [appendix B](https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/twbtw/factions/ "appendix B")) > - A skeletal hag wearing a black, theatrical contraption resembling a dress ([Endelyn Moongrave](https://www.dndbeyond.com/monsters/endelyn-moongrave), as depicted in appendix B) > - A hag with a wind-up key in her back, one empty eye socket, and a wooden eye held in her hand ([Skabatha Nightshade](https://www.dndbeyond.com/monsters/skabatha-nightshade), as depicted in appendix B) > - A svelte, dark-haired woman with a commanding presence (her appearance matching that of the Tasha mannequin outside the Hall of Illusions in the Witchlight Carnival, as described in [chapter 1](https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/twbtw/witchlight-carnival#HallofIllusions "chapter 1")) > > The portraits are enchanted to display the last creature that pricked its skin on the brambles’ thorns in addition to its four closest family members, if it has any. These family members can be living or dead. (If the creature has fewer than four close family members, any remaining portraits are blank.) Each portrait magically animates to create the impression that the subject is looking around and shifting uncomfortably, but the animation has the quality of an old movie. The moving images are silent. - [x] "Wanted" posters for Will of the Feywild - [ ] 3 letters to Skabatha (2 from [[Bavlorna Blightstraw]] and 1 from [[Endelyn Moongrave]]) - [x] [Candle of the Deep](https://www.dndbeyond.com/magic-items/candle-of-the-deep) - [x] [Perfume of Bewitching](https://www.dndbeyond.com/magic-items/perfume-of-bewitching) - [x] [Robe of Useful Items](https://www.dndbeyond.com/magic-items/robe-of-useful-items) ## NPCs - [ ] [[Will of the Feywild]] - [ ] [[Chucklehead]] - can give them the rewards in the Wanted posters - [ ] [[Brottor]] - [ ] [[Lamorna]] ## Locations - [x] [[Loomlurch]] - [x] [[Thither#Fairy rings|Fairy rings]] - [ ] [[Thither#Wayward Pool|Wayward Pool]] --- ## Log - Psychic Whispers: Boris, Lira, unicorn, Irae: 7 hours Candy to Ora: You are targeted by a [polymorph](https://www.dndbeyond.com/spells/polymorph) spell and automatically fail the saving throw against it.
