# Boris Boris is a half-orc barbarian on the Path of the Zealot. ## Backstory Hometown: wastes of [[ttrpgs/The Slayers Five/Xhorhas]] - [[The Many Hosts of Igrathad]] - village of [[Aruuth]], near the [[Fevergulf Lake]] Tribe: Bloody Tooth Boris, known as "Fang of the Bloody Tooth", was always a bit of an outsider in the tribe of the Bloody Tooth, or Aruuth-Uk clan. Other orcs and half-orcs in his tribe were chaotic, uncultured, and longed only for the thrill of battle. While Boris always felt the same desire to fight, he alone in his tribe would temper it with reason. Boris was actually close to his human mother, despite what other orcs did. Boris was different in that he continued to be close to her. She told Boris who his father was-- it was an orc in the tribe who did sometimes watch him during competitions or fights. Boris felt he was Boris's father. He always seemed proud of Boris. He has also occasionally seen flashes of visions that he can't explain. For this, he grew up being mocked by the other tribe members, labelled as "yellow" and cowardly, until one day. One day, Boris was out hunting when he came across his orc friend, Hardrak, being beaten bloody by an orc from another tribe. Jumping to Hardrak's defense, he killed the strange orc. It was only when Hardrak started laughing and Boris noticed the human woman that was crying over the remains of the orc. Hardrak had attempted to rape the woman, and her orc companion had jumped to her defense. Hardrak and Boris returned to their tribe, one victorious and the other miserable, woman in tow. The tribe of the Bloody Tooth celebrated Boris's "victory" in a rare show of pride for the half-orc, but from that day on, Boris knew he didn't belong with his tribe. Boris challenged Hardrak before they got back to the tribe, won by the skin of his teeth. The chief of the tribe wanted to kill Boris, and Boris's father interceded and got killed for it by the chief. Boris then challenged the chief and killed him. Boris would typically be the chief, but the rest of the tribe wouldn't accept him because three orcs had died due to this one human woman. They banished Boris instead, and Boris accepted the judgment. Then he left with the woman. On reflection, Boris realized he needed to control himself better, because when he goes into an orcish fury, he will literally fight to the death. He's like a berserker. Boris has orcish fury on steroids. Boris took the name "Boris" instead of "Fang Beartooth" and traded some metal armor he'd made for passage on a ship to [[ttrpgs/The Slayers Five/Nicodranas]], where he starts his adventure. He has a soft spot for damsels in distress. The human woman, [[Vanlinna]], asked to be left to find her own way somewhere in Xhorhas. ## Secrets that even Boris doesn't know - He has _Labyrinthine recall_: he can perfectly remember any path he's taken. This is due to his past life as [[Sunbreaker Olomon]]. - The orc god [[ttrpgs/The Slayers Five/Gruumsh]] gives him powers, hoping to incite his bloodlust and let his orcish side overpower his human side. - The human woman he saved from [[Hardrak]], [[Vanlinna]], is the doppelganger [[Jenna Iresor]] - [[Ora]]'s mother. - Boris's mother was [[Adalya]], a human who was part of the secret order of [[The Lens]], the Kryn spy network. - [[Jette Brashan]], Director of the [[Claret Orders]] is Boris's real father. He got a letter from [[Adalya]] before she died, to let him know he had a son, but he didn't know anything else. ### Reincarnation by [[Consecution]] He has several past lives. #### [[Kogas Ironcutter]] Drow barbarian Kogas is the drow barbarian who was the hired hand for [[Paelias Nallo]], an ambitious and cruel leader of an archaeological dig. He was the one who uncovered the first [[ttrpgs/The Slayers Five/Luxon Beacon]]. After [[ttrpgs/The Slayers Five/Bright Queen Leylas Kryn]] expressed her doubts about Paelias, he ran off with Leylas and the beacon. Leylas then eventually connected with the beacon, discovered [[ttrpgs/The Slayers Five/The Luxon]], and became the first person to go through [[Consecution]]. As a reward, [[ttrpgs/The Slayers Five/Bright Queen Leylas Kryn]] offered him the chance to be reborn and go through [[Consecution]] - one of the first to do so in those times (after her, of course). This expedition was in the [[Crystalsands Tundra]] in the [[Greying Wildlands]]. Boris had a dream about being Kogas in [[007_20201227 Level 3 training at Darktow]]. Boris has heard of the day the beacon was found, the same day of his dream, as the day the sky turned red, and ghostly warriors rose up from the ground. This was years ago. Boris had a second dream about being Kogas in [[009_20210110 Asari's Mother]]. He dreamed that he and Leylas were trying to find out what the orb does. He saw a line of possibilities of people, including Boris. Kogas's hands are heavily tattooed. #### [[Damota Tarak]] Aasimar barbarian He led the group of fighters he'd trained that retrieved the second [[ttrpgs/The Slayers Five/Luxon Beacon]]. For this, Leylas awarded him nobility in her growing queendom. ##### Dreams - [[018_20210321 The Dragon Turtle]]: Damota and Leylas are watching a group of fighters running drills across a field. Leylas turns to him and says, "I hope you were right about hand-picking this bunch. They don't look like much. But I suppose I must trust your judgment." - Leylas has a small but growing religious following due to her being able to wield the power from the Luxon Beacon. - Damota learns how to use Divine Fury for the first time after Leylas helps him wield the beacon. Only one figure helps in the Divine Fury: Kogas Ironcutter. - Damota and Leylas are watching the same group of 12 fighters, but they're older. They would still be kids anywhere else, but the way they carry themselves belies their experience in battle. "You did well with them," Leylas says. "I had thought you a bit too optimistic, but your successes with them cannot be coincidental." - "We've discovered a great power here, you and I. Eternal life isn't something I would give away lightly, and some might consider it a curse. Is it something you feel comfortable to share with them, or should we keep it to just you and me?" #### Aberis Jourdain Goliath barbarian He commanded Leylas's forces in the battle against [[ttrpgs/The Slayers Five/The Cerberus Assembly]] forces to successfully retrieve the third [[ttrpgs/The Slayers Five/Luxon Beacon]] and give it to Leylas. In this battle, he fearlessly charged a glowing orb of light that enemy mages had conjured, managing to shatter it (and the mage that created it) seconds before detonation. This is where he got the title "Shatterer of the Light", or "Sunbreaker". His humanity has tempered Boris's naturally violent nature subconsciously. #### [[Sunbreaker Olomon]] Minotaur barbarian If Boris goes to [[Rosohna]] or [[Asarius]], he may encounter rumors of the Sunbreaker not having been reborn yet. Boris will require meditation and a guide to go through the process of [[Anamnesis]], which will allow him to recover details of his previous life. [[Sunbreaker Olomon]]'s wife has died, but he has a son who has just gone through [[Anamnesis]]: [[Shadowhand Essek]]. [[Sunbreaker Olomon]] died in an ambush when a new beacon was found in the wastes of [[ttrpgs/The Slayers Five/Xhorhas]] near the [[The Many Hosts of Igrathad]]. He and his men tried to take the beacon first, but a group of mercenaries from the [[Dwendalian Empire]], hired by the [[ttrpgs/The Slayers Five/The Cerberus Assembly]], beat him to it and slaughtered them. This is why Olomon's spirit was reborn in Boris so far away from [[Rosohna]]. When Boris was a child, a [[ttrpgs/The Slayers Five/Luxon Beacon]] had been uncovered near his village. Unbeknownst to him, the soul of the minotaur [[Sunbreaker Olomon]] was reborn in his body. Because of this, he has received visions of Olomon's life, but he doesn't have the knowledge to know what's happening. ## Aim Adventure, explore his human side, save damsels in distress ## Relationships and Icons ### [[Tribe of the Bloody Tooth]] ### [[Vanlinna]] Vanlinna is the human woman whose mate [[Hardrak]] had killed, and whom Boris saved. ### [[ttrpgs/The Slayers Five/The Luxon]] and [[ttrpgs/The Slayers Five/Xhorhas]] Boris fights with the spirit of his ancestors, all of whom have served The Luxon. He is a champion of Xhorhas, one that has served through several generations. ### [[ttrpgs/The Slayers Five/Gruumsh]] Boris did not respond to his call. ### [[Zehir]] When Boris got the [[Lash of Shadows]], the marilith within it offered him powers if he agrees to kill [[Uk'otoa]].
