[[Rumblecusp]] is a volcanic island that is part of the [[Swavain Islands]] on the [[Lucidian Ocean]]. It is the location of one of the [[Find the other temples of Uk'otoa|temples of Uk'otoa]] and the home of [[Vokodo]], an ancient red dragon that occupies the fiery depths of the volcano itself. <iframe src="https://www.worldanvil.com/w/exandria-nvanderhoeven/map/ce12486a-95ac-4dcf-9dbd-c07ea56bb503" height=550 width=800></iframe> ## Arrival ### The [[ttrpgs/The Slayers FiveDragon Turtle]] A [dragon turtle](https://www.dndbeyond.com/monsters/dragon-turtle) named Thunder stalks the waters near Rumblecusp. It appears like an island that follows ships. It has struck a deal with [[Vokodo]]: it wrecks ships, pushing them towards the island of Rumblecusp and providing Mother Krangor/Vokodo with treasure. In return, the dragon turtle is given part of the proceeds of the treasure from sailors that Mother Krangor's kobolds lure to Rumblecusp as well. ### The landscape The most striking feature of the island is the gigantic volcano that looms large from the very center of it, but the volcano has not erupted in many years, and has made the ground surrounding it very fertile. A lush forest sits at the base of the mountain, with 100-foot-high trees. A mist encircles the base of the mountain, hiding the kobold encampment from view. There are notches on trees occasionally, pointing the way to the village. ### Flora and fauna - [[Displacer beasts]] are among some of the island's deadliest predators - footprints and claw marks at the base of the trees - try to follow prey for a while, then surround them - a beautiful purple flower, when smelled, will cause one to consume it (DC 15 Wisdom saving throw). Upon consumption, the creature must make a DC 12 Constitution saving throw. It smells great, but it tastes ashy. - Failure: Fever and shakes. Player suffers a point of exhaustion after an hour of paralysis. - Success: Burning and indigestion in the intestinal tract. - [Fire snakes](https://www.dndbeyond.com/monsters/fire-snake) ### Being watched Feeling of being watched, of general unease, settles over the players. Kobolds are watching everyone on the island. After every long rest spent on the island, everyone must roll a DC 15 Investigation check, otherwise they must choose one of their items to lose. The kobolds have stolen them. ## [[Village of Vo]] ### Description The village is a treetop village, with makeshift pulleys and ropes strung from treetop to treetop to create some sort of path. It's about four hours away from the beach. ### The villagers All the villagers are wearing clothes that look like they were not created in the jungle - they don't look like natives. They are regular people from surrounding cities who have been shipwrecked by the dragon turtle. They don't remember who they are, because the dragon Vokodo casts an enchantment spell to keep them from remembering anything that happened more than a week ago. They worship the fire god Vokodo and believe that Rumblecusp is the center of Exandria, as the birthplace of all life and time. Their catchphrase: "Bright burn his fire." #### Viridian Viridian is actually [[Jannika Jäger]]. She is using the form of a younger human woman and will not recognize [[Ora]] until the curse is lifted. #### Former pirate captain #### [[Flint]] Male dwarf werebear. He is incredibly friendly and gregarious, but the REAL him is a super grumpy and taciturn pirate named Bear. His bear-form is huge and a stark comparison to his much shorter dwarven form. He seems more susceptible to the mist than others and is the most helpful to players. #### Honeythorn Honeythorn is a strikingly beautiful elven female. She is the epitome of a hippie. Her real name is [[Vilya]], and living on Rumblecusp didn't really change her personality too much except that she is Flint's wife and has a daughter, Rivulet (Rivvy) with him. It's going to be a bit awkward when the curse is lifted, because Vilya's definitely not going to want to stay with Flint. #### [[Little Finger]] Halfling boy of 8 years old. He was born on Vo, but doesn't really know who his parents are. The people of Vo are all about free love. He has stayed with many families on Vo. After Vokodo is killed, he will be a little lost. Flint is his biological father (though nobody remembers it) and Little Finger has inherited a resistance to poison, so he is not at all affected by the mist. He's the only one who can really tell the players what has really been going on. #### [[Hektor Delina]] (Graven) He is a blacksmith from [[ttrpgs/The Slayers Five/Port Damali]] whose ship was boarded by the Concord, then re-boarded by a Revelry ship. He hitched a ride with the second Revelry ship until a dragon turtle tore apart that ship.
