# The Secret in the Silk ## Summary [[Pride's Call silk]] is a much-coveted substance that is thin yet incredibly strong, and sought after for its ability to be enchanted. However, no silk has been coming out of Pride Call in the last few weeks. The party arrive at [[Pride's Call]] to find out that something has been attacking the villagers. A few weeks ago, some of them began to get nightmares about things they feared. Then, the disappearances started. The remaining villagers could not figure out where their family and friends had gone, or how they had been taken-- each of them seems to have simply left in the middle of the night, on their own volition. The last of these disappearing villagers was [[Dain Torunn]]'s daughter, [[Diesa Torunn]]. The Torunns are the Silk Crafters, the family designated to keep the secret of Pride's Call Silk. Dain confesses to the party that he thinks Diesa has been taken by the spiders. He doesn't know why the spiders have suddenly started doing this, and he doesn't know what changed. Dain says that whatever changed the spiders has also changed their silk, making it uselessly flimsy. However, he is only saying this so that the party agree to rescue his daughter. Diesa has been captured by fey spiders that have crossed over from The Feywild from the Witchlight Festival that is in town. When the party rescues her, they may find out either from her or from Dain himself that Pride's Call Silk has nothing to do with the fey spiders. The silk is made by silkworms that eat the leaves of a special silkberry tree grown from a seed in the Feywild. The silkberry seed sprouts only where something called the Mightingale Spider has been. At least, that's what Dain knows, because his father recently died and passed the knowledge onto him. The truth is that the party must enter the Feywild and search for The Mightingale, an elusive laughing woman who leaves silkberry seeds in her wake, to be picked by those who have "spied her".
