The Shaded Tangle lies far to the north on the island n the middle of an area of gray, rock-filled emptiness that once held jungle that has now rotted and then petrified. A heavy fog shrouds the entire region. There are a number of broken buildings like a small village. Some structures are mostly intact, but some are bare bones exterior, the corners and the bare remnants of where they once stood. In the center is a singular large obelisk-like spire that is a sheared off portion of a tower. - drained of color; everything is muted in a supernatural way - Every now and then, the breeze that blows through the empty forest sounds vaguely haunting and creepy. - There is a strong smell of fungus and decay. > Tall and twisted ghosts in the mist resolve into skeletal trees, each robbed of most branches and blackened by something—an old fire perhaps, or mold from the damp, or both. Whatever the cause, the ground here looks similarly dead. Although covered in a cracked crust of gray dirt, your foot easily breaks through to sink ankle deep in dark sludge. The buildings of the Ruins resemble those in the Ghostlands on the outskirts of Rosohna. Sheets of ice form on their edges and the temperature becomes quite cold. A dragonleaf tree stands at the center of the Shaded Tangle, in the middle of the ruins of the fortress. It was transplanted here when Tiamat punished Vokodo by imprisoning him here, with the promise of freedom once he has guarded the orb long enough. [[Mother Krangor]]'s forgetting mists affected it, however, and it failed to remember that it could reach out to Vokodo and offer escape (Vokodo could have teleported to the location of the tree). It instead terrorized the Shaded Tangle, drawing warmth and life out of trees in the vicinity. Monsters here are plants that have been warped by the presence of the dragontree. ## Encounters - Boss: [[Dragonleaf Tree]] - [[Random Tables#Plants Tome of Beasts I and II]] - ToB Plants: `dice: [[Random Tables#^tobplants]]` - [[Swamp Lily]]
