After a slightly choppy start to your journey, you’re now almost ready to descend to your intended destination – a shipwreck near a merfolk city. You’ve been hired to escort a researcher as she retrieves a historical artefact that has been traced to this location. You only hope that it is as peaceful below the waves as it is above them. You scan the ocean, looking for a sign of your merfolk guide. We're on a small research vessel. Not built for comfort. Barebones. Barely enough room for all of us. We're being led there by a human scout. He's a guy in his 50s. Godfrey Melenga. No-nonsense academic. We're supposed to retrieve the crown. Short and stocky, wears glasses. Ship is called The Anemone. Murathan's PC: Kovayla ("with a bucket" in Turkish) Regular sized human. He bends down to enter the door even though he doesn't really need to. He looks completely like an average human being. Very generic. We were hired by the research team. They're working together with the merfolk in the area. Crown was created by a human ruler to control human realm. The original enchantment made whoever wears it uncontrollably ambitious. The druid finds the merfolk woman guide. [[Miranda]]. In her 40s. She's blue. Mariana Loki. Lo' Keegan Hawkgust - Human male, middle-aged. - Absentmindedly twirling a flute in his hands. There have been hunter sharks in the area. Godfrey is concerned about Miranda's safety. We each get a potion of underwater breathing. Don't look at the coral. It can get you confused. - Round 1 - Loki - Bardic inspiration via dolphin speak - Rapier attack: 6 piercing damage - Miranda - Misses on the spear attack. She's a nerd though so she misses. - Hunter Shark (unattacked) - Bites Kovayla: - Mariana (11) - Trident attack x 2, unarmed attack with Hand of Harm - Kovayla (9) - Turns into an octopus - 2 more hunter sharks enter the fray! - Hunter shark 2 - Bites Mariana: 12 piercing damage - Round 2 - Loki - 5 piercing damage on Shark 1. Looking bad. - Miranda - Fails again - Hunter Shark 3 - Flanks with Shark 2, the one attacking Kovayla - Bites Kovayla: 20 piercing. - Hunter Shark 4 - Bites Kovayla: - Mariana - one dead (Hunter Shark 1) - Move to Hunter Shark 2 - Kovayla - Heals for bonus action. - Misses - Hunter Shark 2 - Misses when trying to bite Kovayla - Round 3 - Loki - Swims over to shark, misses both times - Miranda - Hunter Shark 2 - Misses Miranda - Hunter Shark 3 - Misses Miranda - Mariana - Unarmed attacks x 3 - Kovayla - Grapples Hunter Shark 3 and it's 15 feet away - Healing Word: 3 - Hunter Shark 4 - Round 4 - Loki - Hypnotic pattern. All the sharks and Miranda are incapacitated. - Miranda - - Hunter Shark 2 - Hunter Shark 3 - Mariana - Shake Miranda awake and we swim off in the direction she was taking us in - Kovayla - Hunter Shark 4 Combat over! We see the shipwreck we were looking for. We see barnacles covering it. Kovayla stealths ahead. There are four merfolk bandits that are there. Their leader is currently wearing a crown. - They're talking about ransacking the merfolk city. - There are also four giant seahorses that are also their mounts. We sneak over there. I use *Emissary of the Sea* to convince them that the sharks are coming this way. Loki cuts the rope with his dagger and the seahorses go running off. The bandits all carry spears. The gang leader's name is Adrius. He carries a harpoon. He's wearing a crown. Makes him look a little bit like a king. He's very imposing. - Round 1 - 15 Loki - Hideous Laughter on Adrius. Incapacitated, prone. Can make a WIS save on damage. - Moves behind cover. - 15 Kovayla - Conjure animals. - Stays behind. - 10 Mariana - Go to 1. Stunned. - Stunned 2. damaged. - Unarmed attack on 3. - 3 Giant Eels x4 - Merfolk bandits x4 - Round 2 - Loki - Disguise Self and pretends to be one of the bandits. He goes and stands next to Adrius. - Bardic inspiration to Mariana - Kovayla - BA: Hidden Step to become invisible until the start of the turn. - Mariana - - Adrius - 3 Merfolk bandits - Giant Eels - Attack Adrius. - Round 3 - Loki - Grabs the crown from Adrius's head and takes 4 psychic damage. - Adrius surrenders but the bandits do not. He has no idea what's going on. The bandits were never under the influence. - Kovayla - Heals me. - Mariana - Kills Bandit 1 - 2 Merfolk bandits - I'm unconscious - Adrius - - Giant Eels - Round 4 - Loki - Dispel Magic on the crown to stop it from hurting him. - Kovala - Mariana - Giant Eels - Adrius - 3 Merfolk bandits Kovayla heals me and Loki. The Dispel doesn't work on the crown's curse, so Loki runs to Miranda with the crown. But she just takes the damage too. I tie the crown up and don't take the damage. Miranda says that we don't want the bandits (The Barracuda Bandits) to attack the town. They're trouble. Miranda doesn't want that kind of trouble. Also make sure that they don't take the crown back. Loki talks to them and convinces them not to attack the city. We swim back to the Anemone to Godfrey and Miranda. We get 350 gp for the job + 150 extra for recovering the crown. Miranda suggests that we keep the crown in a case (locked). She gives us each another potion of Water Breathing each to thank us.
