# [[014_20220806 Wrin was right about the gauntlight]] %% art:: [[golarion-mouthful-monster.png]] %% ## Session Summary > [!tldr] [[014_20220806 Wrin was right about the gauntlight]] > Still in the moorlock underground keep, we decided to take the body of the moorlock we found and show it to Boss Skrawng, who confirmed that the moorlocks were the "mushroom-eyed people" he had told us about. > > We headed back into the underground keep and kept exploring, particularly inside a well that led straight down for 45 feet. I sent Ash and Hurricane down there, but immediately unmanifested Ash when he saw some large thing that was a heap of flesh and eyes and mouths. Good thing, too! > > Just when we were going to leave the workroom, a voice called out to us from behind a locked door. After some debate, we opened the door and revealed three nearly unconscious humans who looked like they'd been imprisoned there a long time. Their names were Shad, Gorul, and Ziskily, and they claimed they were part of the Osprey Club and that Yin Yasmera would reward us if we delivered them safely back to her. We did so, and Yin did confirm their story. She gave us some money for rescuing them, and even offered us a job. > > We spent some downtime at Otari. I bought a healing potion and also ordered four more to be made by Magilroy, who said it would take a week. We decided to rest for the night, but when we got outside, we realized something was very wrong. A strong blue light was shining from The Gauntlight and onto the Otari Graveyard, on the cliffs above the library. When we got closer, we realized there were bodies from graves that had turned undead and were falling off the cliff and onto the Dawnflower Library. ^summary %% [Video](https://youtu.be/Q-XqKKIOo-4) %% ## Recap ![[013_20220731 Karsh's Inner Chaos#^summary]] --- ## Log The ballistas were once mounted in the hallway-- that's what the metal frames were for. We found the ballistas here in the forge. The remaining moorlock fled with some contraptions in its arms. This room smells of dust and grime. It has pieces of weapons, frayed coils of ropes, jagged shards of metal. - There is a cold unlit forge in the alcove to the northeast. - North, where we are: several timbers are wedged up against the door to keep it shut. - South: 5-foot passage going east. The moorlock fled through here. - Four doors: - 1 we went through (to [[The Gauntlight#The Underground Hallway]]) - 1 the moorlock went through (to [[The Gauntlight#Moorlock Escape]]) - 1 through the north, blocked by timbers ([[The Gauntlight#Barricaded storeroom]]) We spent an hour and 10 minutes. resting and healing. We hear voices from where the moorlock fled. They're talking among themselves. We decide to take the moorlock body and take it aboveground to show [[Boss Skrawng]]. Skram sets a trap. Skrawng is in [[The Gauntlight#Sinkhole room]]. He confirms that the [[Morlock]]s are [[The Mushroom-eyed People]]. He and his mitflits take the body. ^908e56 Ash feels the pull to go to this place. We're not really sure why. We go to the room to the west from [[The Gauntlight#Interrogation Room|the interrogation room]]. - Chair to the north is bigger and more comfortable than other 6 chairs, though it's decayed like most things here. - It seems like there hasn't been anyone here for a while. No footprints, no scents. - Long table, 3 squares long and 3 feet wide. - From the door on the south, we hear moorlock conversation. There are two doors from the hallway to the Forge. One is on the south. We went through the other door (south) of [[The Gauntlight#Ready Room|the meeting room]]. It's like a passageway leading to [[The Gauntlight#Stone Door Room|a door]] with a handle that seems strange. The door is different - every other door here is wooden and rotting. This door is made of stone. We hear the voices louder. The long hallway is 19 squares by 2 squares. There are two pairs of doors on the south of the hallway - Double doors leading to the west into the voices - 1 pair to the workshop. From the hallway, there's a [[The Gauntlight#Western hallway|long hallway to the west]]. We open the secret door to the hallway. We hear a commotion to the south, and then it's quiet again. We sneak into the workshop. Some things have been changed. The trap there has not been sprung, and there's another trap there. The workshop actually has four doors: - North - barred - South - East - West One of them is the door to a well. We go into the well. It's a [[The Gauntlight#Well of many mouths|3x2 room]]. - Armor, weapons lie in heaps north of a well - Cold well. I send Hurricane, and then Ash, down the well. 10 feet before hitting the water, he sees there is a cavern here. The air is cold and damp. There's a lazy rivulet of overflow trickling to the north down a sloping tunnel. The hole is 10 feet above the water. The well is 45 feet tall. But it opens up into [[The Gauntlight#Cavern of mouths]]. Ash hears a splashing sound and can see [[The Gibbering Mouther|a creature]] at the edge of the pond that is a mess of eyes and mouths in a heap of flesh. All of its mouths are saying something Ash doesn't understand. ![[golarion-mouthful-monster.png]] Initiative - Creature: - Swims to Ash, pulsing and throbbing through the water. 20 foot swim speed. - Its flesh contorts as if to smother Ash. Reflex save. It almost splits down the middle and there are more eyes and mouths and teeth inside. Ash swings out of the way. - Rotates a part of its body, bearing jaws from one side. Misses. - Ash: Makes a will save. I use a hero point and he succeeds. Just being around it disturbs normal brains. Temporarily immune for one minute. Ash would know there was a tunnel leading out of the pond. There was [[The Gauntlight#Underground pond stairway|a stairway]] leading out and there was trickling water going northward. I unmanifest Ash. We decide not to go back down. As we leave the workshop, we hear a tap on the other side of [[The Gauntlight#Barricaded storeroom|the barred door]]. It smells like a humanoid bathroom. Bond asks who's there, and a voice responds "I am [[Gorul]]." The tapping stops. Karsh unbars the door easily. A waft of odor comes out. There are three humans who have been going to the bathroom there. They are unconscious and clad in rags. One of them opens an eye. "Must be dreaming. Are you here to save us?" [[Shad]] is the name of the one Skram healed. He says they are in our debt. They ask to be taken to [[Yin Yasmera]], whom they say will reward them. They show tattoos on their right shoulder. They are members of [[The Osprey Club]]. The tattoos are proof that Yin will reward those who return them. Gorul says [[Captain Lardus Longsaddle]] won't believe anything that they (the Osprey Club) say. ^7048f8 It's about 5 pm. We go back to Otari. We pass by the stone pond, go down the Gaunt Trail. [[Ziskily]] is the other guy. They want to go to [[Crook's Nook]]. It is known for serving the best seafood. In the attic is the reputed base of Osprey Club. Yin says the three men deserve what happened to them after she told them not to go there. Other men bring them elsewhere to clean them up. Yin Yasmera told them not to go to the Gauntlight. It's not a profitable place to stay in. There's much more work in town. She doesn't seem to be particularly concerned for them, but she doesn't want to be known as a person who doesn't care for her employees, so in thanks, she gives us some money. She offers us a job if any of us are sneaky, are quick with our fingers, or can track people she wants followed. 50 gold is how much she gave us. Ash thinks she was telling the truth when she said she didn't have Bond's air repeater. Karsh wants to check on his mentor, [[Sir Eresant]]. Ash and Zuhri go to [[Wrin Sivinxi]]. I buy a healing potion and healer's tools. She recommends [[Magiloi]] for more healing potions, but says that his stuff is alcoholic. I go to [[Crow's Cask]] and look for Magilroy. He stays in the room at the back. Jar with glowing, shimmering paste. He made it recently. You can lather it on someone and his skin hardens. It stops one attack. +1 bonus to AC on attack or magic missile. The oil prevents 5 damage. 4 gp. ^60454e Antivenom. Sharpness of cat's eyes. Bottle of shimmering liquid. You pour it on food or drink and it removes all poisons. Makes it edible. I buy healing potions but they're not made yet. Check with Magilroy after a week and he will try to make four of them. We hear a commotion coming from [[Dawnflower Library]]. We see [[The Gauntlight]] shining a blue light onto [[Otari Graveyard]] near the library. People are pointing at it and saying it's never happened before. We head to the graveyard and see the sickly pale blue light that just falls on the graveyard. We see Karsh there too. We reach the Dawnflower Library and we see movement on the cliff above-- we see dozens of skeletons and shambling corpses. They're all lumbering towards the cliff. They seem to have fresh dirt on their bodies. They're falling onto the library as parts of it are destroyed. The acolytes run out. The proprietor, female halfling cleric of Sarenrae, is [[Vandy Banderdash]]. Many other acolytes of good deities come running out. Some of the fallen corpses rise and get weapons.
