# [[016_20220820 A visit from Ratfolk and a Skalathrax]]
## Session Summary
> [!tldr] [[016_20220820 A visit from Ratfolk and a Skalathrax]]
> We looted the undead and were able to forge things from their bodies. Specifically, we got monster parts that Bond already used to make his weapon better.
>
> As we headed back to our rooms for the night, we saw two wagons' worth of travellers come into town. They turned out to be Skram's relatives! They'd been driven out of their warren by attacks. Apparently, his brother Rusk had been attacked by something unknown. He had strange scars that wouldn't seem to heal, and when I examined them, I realized they looked familiar to what I had when I was experimented on.
>
> I shared a bit about my history-- that I'd been hurt in some sort of procedure and then rescued by a kind person who led me away into the forest. I was found by the Immenwood Ambush, and grown up mostly tiger until I found Ash. I didn't know if that meant Rusk would later have an eidolon, too!
>
> We told Skram's family that they could live under the Otari Fishery, since they said they needed a place to stay and wanted to go somewhere underground. Meanwhile, we went to Wrin to see if she knew anything about recent happenings. As we were talking to her, The Gauntlight surged and shone directly on us. When we looked around, we realized a strange, insect-like creature called a Skalathrax had appeared! We began to battle it. ^summary

## Recap

## Log
Rules stuff
- Previously, he had said that ranged weapons can't be loaded while they're stowed-- but gunslingers have a feat to QuickDraw that would be rendered useless if that were the case. So they can be loaded now. At best you lose your ammo and at worst you hit yourself.
- Lore skills will automatically level up with my class DC.
- Hero points can also be used to change the narrative. One hero point changes something small for you, and if something affects the whole party, everyone has to spend a hero point.
Session 16, day 16, 6 pm.
People on the ground are gawking at us, seeing what we've done.
A certain friar helped Karsh get out of [[Lastwall]]. [[The Whispering Tyrant]]'s name is Tar-baphon. Karsh isn't sure if this was related. Karsh thinks all the dead should be destroyed. What if we're not here next time?
We see [[Vandy Banderdash]]. She is the primary cleric of [[Sarenraei]] and is a female halfling. She is chatty and can heal *and* treat wounds via first aid. Karsh doesn't get healed by divine healing. She's never seen it light up. She asks us to return to her.
Ash is manifested from my own life force.
7 pm.
Loot the undead! We can sell rusty weapons at half price.
- Flameskull and zombie brute don't have items. Monster loot instead. BattleZoo bestiary system for Pathfinder.
- 79 gp worth of monster parts.
- Skeletal champion: chainmail (3gp bulk 2), lance (5sp bulk 2), longsword (5sp bulk 1), steel shield
- Guards: scimitar each + shortbow (15 sp)
BattleZoo forging system
- Forging things from monster parts.
- Keyword can be gotten from monsters depending on their keywords. (Ex: fire from flameskull)
- You can create things up to your level.
Traits for this: undead, fire.
Level 1: 20 gp worth of monster parts.
You can make a Level 2 weapon: 35 gp (and it already has a +1 to attack rolls).
Level 3: 60 gp.
You could also imbue a skill item to provide a bonus to you using that skill.
Imbued properties: Evil, fire, force, fortification, good, acid, sturdy, winged, wisdom etc. Also 35 gp.
26.3gp worth of monster parts each.
I lent Bond 2.4 gp worth of monster parts. he will give me this back later.
I have 23.9 gp with traits *fire* and *undead*. Bond owes me 2.4 gp.
We owe Karsh 13 gp. We paid him off so that we're all square.
We see some travellers come into town, at least two wagons' worth. The wagons are pulled by giant rats, and the wagons are covered. Beside the giant rats are gaudy figures - they're also ratfolk. They are Skram's family (there are about 100 of them)!
One of them, [[Tessa]], is Skram's cousin. There are about 20 of them, which is more than how many normally go from city to city. Tessa says that some of Skram's family have not returned from trading. One came back, a brother, heavily scarred. His name is [[Ruskramigin|Rusk]], the eldest. He had strange scars on him. He was shocked. He was unconscious. Something is attacking their people, their kind, and they don't know what. For ratfolk, you can add a syllable to your name as you age. When you get a family, they get to adopt a part of your name. Rusk was unconscious when they found him, and he had marks on his skin from a weapon or something.
They are looking for a place to live - we point them towards the [[Otari Fishery]]. Rusk is Skram's direct brother (though they call each other brothers and sisters even though they're not direct ones).
Skram treats Rusk's wounds, but Rusk doesn't regain consciousness and his wounds don't heal. They've lost three over the last few days. I look at the wounds and they are familiar. They are similar to mine, but where I only have one rune, Rusk has a lot of them. And his wounds are fresh - my have healed over.
Go back to see Rusk when he wakes up - ask him for more information. Where was he? Who took him? Did he go through the same thing?
[[Wrin Sivinxi]] says the light on [[The Gauntlight]] is getting brighter. Then suddenly we get caught in the light - it's not in the graveyard anymore; it's on us!
