# [[018_20220910 Monster parts for free]] ## Session Summary > [!tldr] [[018_20220910 Monster parts for free]] > We spent the night at the Crook's Nook, and then went our separate ways. Zuhri and Ash went to retrieve the one potion that Magiloi had already created, Skram went to the Dawnflower Library to do some research on The Gauntlight, and Bond went to Blades for Glades to (unsuccessfully) look for a gun. > > Bond and I later went to the Otari market, where we swindled a vendor named Keeleno Lathanar, who gave us a creepy mask and a bunch of monster parts for very cheap. Ash wasn't happy about us lying, but we appeased him by promising him (and Keeleno) that we would try to find the killer of his wife, whom he claimed was a shapeshifting druid that had struck his wife Ayla down in cold blood. > > We went back to The Gauntlight and explored the small triangular room north of the library with a secret staircase. We found a key that we found worked to open the trapdoor leading to the lighthouse copola, where we found a bright blue light glowing in the centre of the room. We couldn't seem to harm it in any way, but we decided we'd come back to try and cover it up so that at least its light wouldn't shine on Otari, causing more of the dead to rise up. > > Looking for another way to disable the light, we explored the secret room we found in the triangular room. It led to a large hall where we found undead creatures. When we killed them, a bright blue light came out of them and animated other nearby corpses! ^summary %% [Video](https://youtu.be/wHL13iozF3U) %% --- ## Recap ![[017_20220903 Chase of the Skalathrax#^summary]] --- ## Log We wake up at [[Crook's Nook]]. It's actually [[Magiloi|Magiloi]]. I go to [[Crow's Cask]] to see if he has made any potions. He has made one! - He also has a small jar with silvery paste. He calls it a silvery sheen. 6 gp. Silvers ammunition. - Anti-venom potion. 6 gp. - Cat's eye elixir. 7 gp. - Nectar of purification. 3gp. *Purify food and drink* Skram went to [[Dawnflower Library]]. Bond goes to [[Blades for Glades]]. [[Carman Rajani]] lost his wife and kids in an attack, and he's not a very happy man as a result. He's run for mayor twice and lost twice to [[Mayor Oseph Menhemes]]. He's unfriendly with everyone, but he's now indifferent to Bond, especially when he sold him the projectile launcher. Bond and I meet up to go to the market. [[Otari Market]] is a log cabin trading post. Open-air farmer's market. Lots of trading and bartering without money. We see a thin, pale-faced man who is perpetually scowling. He seems to be watching everyone and moving them along. He says he's open every day except the 5th. He says no loitering. He is a trader but also gets a percentage of all the sales. - He has: food, jewelry, bolts of cloth, two wooden boxes - He shows us a mask of a leering humanoid creature. It's stylized and meant to invoke fear. We buy it for 5 gp! - He shows us another bunch of monster parts. 22 gp. ^1f8eef - His name is [[Keeleno Lathanar]]. Human. He said to stay away from [[Stone Ring Pond]]. He doesn't like the druids there. He says they're nature-loving murderers. One of them killed his wife - he turned into a monster. The man's name is [[Jaul Mesmin]], and he killed Keeleno's wife Ayla. The druids told him Jaul was lost. That's why he closes the shop every 5th - he looks for his wife's killer. He saw it happen. Jaul was wearing a cloak that the druids always wear. He looked like a man but he didn't move like one. He growled like some devil beast and leapt at Ayla and shredded her to pieces. It's been 30 years but he has no proof that the demon druid is dead. The monster had fur. 5.5 gp of mysterious monster parts. We go back to [[The Gauntlight]] and head to the triangular room north of [[The Gauntlight#Library with a Secret Staircase]]. - Divan, armoire, and tapestries that are all decayed - Ceiling is intact. - Arrow slits from the northern wall. - In the divan we find a key ring with two rings. One is a large rectangle. - Behind the tapestry is a secret door! It goes to the eastern door, past the scorpion. We go to the lighthouse copola. - The non-rectangular key is what opens the lighthouse trap door. - Rows of black metal bars encase the circular chamber like a cage. - Shimmering waves of force flicker between bars. Looks like glass. - Floor to the north has a trap door. - Pale blue shimmer from [[The Gauntlight's Lantern]]. It's a man-sized glowing ball of light attached to a pedestal (5-foot diameter). Skram thinks the blue waves of force functioned like glass. Bond's bullet disappears into the light when he fires it at the lantern. There's no sound of impact. This is the work of high level magic. It's keeping this entire lighthouse in pristine shape so that it's immune to damage, elements, time. We go back to [[The Gauntlight#Secret Sinister Shrine]]: - There is a corpse by the door. It is mostly bone, and is positioned as if it were trying to open or close the door. Humanoid. - The air is damper than elsewhere. Small rivulets coming down - Wall of carved skulls. - Three short steps up to the north. circular dais and white stone altar - Beyond the altar are large stained glass windows (20 feet tall). Each one depicts ghosts rising from graveyard, toward a four-pointed orange star above. - 1 corpse: long-dead acolyte. Starts spasming with some sort of eldritch electricity. - Another corpse rises Initiative - 28: Bond - 21: Skram - 12: Z & A - 11: Karsh - 9: Undead creatures The undead creatures: they are moldy, with moldy clothes and other items they had when they died, but the zombies are not using them. - Round 1 - Bond: Shoots - Skram: - Us - Z1: Protect Companion - Z1: Boost Eidolon - A1: Dragon stance attack - The zombie dies. Small blue light comes out of its body. - A1: Move - Karsh: Couldn't recall knowledge, and attacked the remaining one and dealt 8 damage. - Blue light flies towards the other corpse and goes into it. The corpse rises! - Zombie does a cone attack of a sickly blue light. Failed (Skram and Bond): 6 negative damage and are frightened 1. And then it heals itself! - Round 2 - Bond: Shoots at the zombie - Skram: Kills the third corpse that was reanimated. - Us - Z1: Protect Companion - Z2: Forbidding Ward - A1: Dragon Stance attack - Karsh thinks the blue light is some type of [[ttrpgs/The Undead Unkillers/Will o' wisp]]. Rages. - Zombie: Cone that hits Zuhri, Bond, Skram. It heals. - Blue light flies past the triangular room and disappears from sight. - Round 3 - Bond: Attacks the remaining zombie and kills it! - Skram: Captures blue light into his antidote vial. One of the acolyte skeletons has a tooth worth 4 gp and the other has an amulet around his neck.
