Automatons were constructed to last for centuries, but they are also sentient. 25 Occultism to check the drill. It aids in casting the *Create undead* ritual. It penetrates the skull of a restrained victim. The scope focuses the ritual's necromantic energies. It would provide +2 item bonus if you knew *Create undead*. We go south. It leads to stairs going down. In [[The Gauntlight#Spartan room]] is the spartan room. We go north. - Small straw bed - Because of the change in perspective, Bond spots a loose brick. It's 13:00. Southern staircase (from the surgery room) goes down eastward and ends in a door. The door seems quiet. The door opens onto a hallway, 15 feet long. Door on either end (north and south). - South: white mist escaping through the bottom of the door. - North: We go north to [[The Gauntlight#Contractual Prison]] - 10x10 room - Door leading to west leading to prison - Iron door with barred window on the wall - Large but open padlock hanging on the door's latch - Middle: humanoid clad in armor exposing shoulders and neck. His skin is red, he has horns, he's carrying a glaive. He has a tail and hooves. He looks bored. "Finally! I guess you are intruders in this area, and I am ordered to put intruders into that cell. You are under arrest." - I am Korlock. I am the jailer. I've been guarding this room for ages. - He doesn't seem to care whether he's alone or who is paying him. He is keeping his word. - He says he's not mortal. - I try to intimidate him. He says he is forced to fulfill his contract with Belcorra. He lost his contract but she told him to wait here and let no one pass until she comes for him. - He will let us go if the next time we come back to this place, we have his contract. - Skram realises he is a fiend: a [[Barbazu]]. 5th level. Exceptional melee combatant with beard, claw, glaive. It has divine innate spells. Its glaive strikes have a disease or infernal wound. They usually don't fight - they're scouts, informants. They're one of the lower levels of Hell. South door (mist): [[The Gauntlight#Mist Room]] - Thick clouds of mist fill this room entirely - 15x15 We all walk in! We feel a strange unnaturalness in the mist. The mist moves like it's observing us. The mist starts to compress into something... Initiative - 25 Zuhri - 22 Skram - 22 Karsh - 19 Bond - [[Mist Stalker]] - Round 1 - Zuhri - Ash moves to it readies a sonic kick - Zuhri tries to recall knowledge and it's some sort of elemental. - Skram - Thinks it's a creature or some effect that is rare. - Karsh - Also takes up a defensive position - Bond - Recall knowledge - Raconteur's Reload - Thing - Mist cloud congeals. The area is difficult terrain. - Tentacle made of mist/water slaps Ash. - Ash's readied action triggers but he doesn't hit! Critical fumble. It gets a +2 circumstance bonus to its AC until the end fo my next turn. - Round 2 - Us - Z1: Shield - Z1: Protect Companion - Z1: Boost Ash for 1 round - A1: Trips it. It's prone and takes 1 bludgeoning damage. - Skram - It's a Mist Stalker. Amphibious elemental, level 4. It's been able to traverse the elemental planes into this world. They frequent cold, moist, watery areas. It has an ability to create mist around itself as it tries to attack. As an elemental, it is immune to bleed, poisoning, paralyze, sleep. It has some intelligence and can see through its own fog. - Karsh can't see it! - Bond deals 6 damage to the creature, then 7 slashing. - Mist Stalker - Gets up - Steps to avoid being flanked - Attacks Karsh by solidifying mist where he is. - Round 3 - Us - Z1: Shield - Z1: Protect Companion - A1: Stride - A1: Attack, 7 sonic damage - Skram - Bond intimidates it. Its will is 21. Frightened 1. Critically hits it! It is now sickened 1. 2 slashing. - Mist Stalker - Stands up - Strides to Bond - Attacks Bond. Bond is immobilized until he escapes. 12 bludgeoning damage - Round 4 - Us - Z1: Boost - A1: Stride - A1: Attack, 11 sonic - A1: Agile Attack, 9 bludgeoning damage - Skram - Karsh moves to it, trips it, and does double damage!
