# [[022_20221008 Flesh for the Canker]] ![[golarion-022.png]] ## Session Summary > [!tldr] [[022_20221008 Flesh for the Canker]] > We went into a room that seemed like a normal sitting room until a big red eye opened that frightened all of us. It didn't seem to be a creature that we could fight, so we just left it. We also saw a room where the green lights spelled out words that talked about Belcorra falling to the Roseguard and the existence of "vaults below". The lights fell to the floor after spelling that out, and went out like a snake. We started to follow it, but it was too fast for us. > > The light led us to a library filled with books and four ghouls that asked us to "donate flesh for The Canker". We briefly tried to reason with them, but then just killed them! > > We went back to Otari to rest, and realised that many adventurers had come to help defend the city against the undead. We also met a young human girl named Tallie, who offered to be our porter. ^summary %% [Video](https://youtu.be/mOBJ20UoliU) %% --- ## Recap ![[021_20221001 Stalked by the mist#^summary]] --- ## Log [[The Gauntlight#Hallway to the east]] Hallway leads to the east 35 feet - splintered wood - in the middle of the hallway, on the north and the south, there is a pair of stairways leading up. I imbue my *Handwraps of Mighty Blows* with +1 damage to undead (Undead Bane). We go south. There is a long hallway. [[The Gauntlight#Hallway out of the mist]] - Two doors: left and right (east and west) - East door has green light under it. - Proceeds 4 more squares (8 squares long) and another door at the end (south) West: [[The Gauntlight#Room of the Red Eye]] - ancient sofa with stuffing coming out sitting on the west wall of the room - 10x10 foot room - probably homey in the past, but it's been torn open Karsh lifts the sofa and we have to make a Will save! We all make it. We feel paranoid for a second. In the centre of the western wall, a red eye opens and looks around the room. Everyone in the room is frightened 1. The eye is still there, but it seems as hard as the wall. Ash doesn't recall anything about this eye. No creatures. No thoughtsense. We treat wounds for 50 minutes. We go to the door to the east. [[The Gauntlight#Room of the Roseguard Confession]] - Ancient tattered sofa on the east wall of this room. - 10x10 room - South wall is shimmering in green light. Bond steps in. The green glowing light starts to move. It seems like they're letters. *Belcorra fell to the Roseguard, but we never knew of these vaults below.* It looks handwritten. The lights fall to the floor and form a line that slithers through our feet and out the door like a snake northward back to the octagonal room ([[The Gauntlight#Mist Room]]). Then [[The Gauntlight#Hallway to the east|east]], then [[The Gauntlight#Stairs up from the mist (north)|north stairs]]. We've never been there. We follow it up. It goes down again. Goes east to the [[The Gauntlight#Library of the Canker|door with that green light]] that we've never explored. The light isn't a living thing. It's like a direction or path. Ash opens the east door. - massive room. - Hundreds of stone shelves, 15-foot-wide hallway. many gaps but there are books, scrolls, folios intact. - signs hanging above doors: - faint blue glow flickers beneath the sign to the south. - line moves north and then east - It's a reverse L hallway. - circular area to the south of it - some areas to the north: - 7 doors total - north is where the green light went - no languages that we can understand. - 4 humanoids in long pale blue robes that seem to be working here, stacking books. They lick their lips. One looks slowly at us. "Donate flesh for The Canker." Zuhri and Ash identify them as ghouls. Ghouls are level 1 creatures. They are ravenous undead who haunt graveyards and eat corpses but they don't pose a threat to us. - 29 Karsh - 24 Bond - 24 Skram - 17 Us - Ghouls - Round 1 - Karsh delays - Bond - Shoots. We know that ghouls become ghouls either by being created by an evil divine caster or by resorting to cannibalism and eating your fellow men. You are blessed by an evil power when you do that horrendous thing. 52 gp worth of monster parts. 17.3 gp each. *Undead, darkvision, acrobatics, athletics, stealth, survival, piercing, slashing.* I use 15 gp of it. 2.3 left. Exits: - 3 doors lead to interior rooms of the library - south: blue glow flickering below a sign to the south - north: 2 doors and a large area that turns to the right and a small hallway that goes north. no door. Bond owes me 2 gp of monster parts. Karsh treated our wounds for 1 hour. We decide to go back to [[Otari]] to rest a bit. We go through town. There seems to be an influx of adventurers in this area. They seem to have come because of the undead things, but that also means that there are new merchants that come to cater to adventurers too. At the [[Crook's Nook]], we find a young human girl offering her services as a porter. She's a hireling that you have to pay per day. Her name is [[Tallie]]. The Crook's Nook is also more packed than normal.
