# [[023_20221015 Calamity's Ruin and the Undead Unkillers]] ![[golarion-023.png]] ## Session Summary > [!tldr] [[023_20221015 Calamity's Ruin and the Undead Unkillers]] > Mayor Menhemes put out a call for adventurers that many have answered, including one group that seemed particularly imposing, called Calamity's Ruin. We talked to them a bit and they had cool codenames for each other, for the group, and just more strategy than we did. One of them was someone that Ash recognized, a halfling named Gloam. I was surprised and not too happy that Ash had appeared to someone before me. Still, we ended up making friends with them, with Karsh and Ash also doing some fighting with Bee, the monk. > > We went through downtime in Otari. Skram checked up on his family -- Rusk was still unconscious. Skram went to meet the don of his family, who arrived that night. Skram tutored Doriana Menhemes. I retrained and learned martial arts from Ash. Bond finally found out who had stolen his guns-- two young kobolds who wanted to be just like him. Bond worked at Otari Market, intimidating people. > > Calamity's Ruin came back from The Gauntlight with goodies we didn't get! We hurried right back to stop them from taking it all. ^summary %% [Video](https://youtu.be/w_7Z17bYdLQ) %% --- ## Recap ![[022_20221008 Flesh for the Canker#^summary]] --- ## Log ![[golarion-undead.png]] ![[golarion-undead-jumping.png]] ![[golarion-will-o-wisp.png]] ![[golarion-morlock-scavenger.png]] ![[golarion-morlock-engineer.png]] [[Mayor Oseph Menhemes]] has put out a call for adventurers in the region to help with the lighthouse. Crook's Nook. Tallie offers to carry our stuff: Double my gold is 20 sp per day. We hire her! There are other parties here. - There's a hulking gnoll, 7 or 8 feet. He has goggles and a rancour (three-pronged spear for disarming) but he has gadgets on it. - a female monk who is meditating. - There's also a hobgoblin with a huge mining pick that looks like a warhammer. - There's also a halfling in a cloak talking in a high-pitched voice. - They are called [[Calamity's Ruin]]. Apparently we are the Undead Unkillers. - I spend a hero point to say Ash knows this halfling Odasa. She is obsessed with death and dying. She's a good person, a cleric of [[Pharasma]]. This god is a god that hates the undead. She is a pale halfling. She's not that friendly but recognizes Ash. - She's now known as *Gloam*. "*Bee*" is what they call the monk. She doesn't have pupils. That's her code name. She is Shawanti, a people far from here. Of the Wind Clan. We run like the wind in her tribe. She wants to someday attend the Ruby Phoenix Tournament, once every 10 years. It's carried out in Goka on the west. Draws combatants from all over the world. She and Ash go out to spar and compare fighting styles. Hobgoblin, gnoll are still talking to us. The gnoll says he is a learned creature. He has alchemical stuff. The hobgoblin "allows" the gnoll to sell Skram some information. It's an alchemical bomb. - *Lesser Dread Ampoule*: Has a gas that interferes with human brain activity. It's a splash poison. Deals mental damage and causes someone to be frightened. He ends up giving it to Skram, with a hint that maybe he can give a formula to Skram later - *Gear* is his codename. But his real name is *Wistful*... something. The hobgoblin's codename is *Dread*. He says they want to explore the lighthouse. He said he would have handled [[Korlock]] the same way we did. He's very lawful. Wrin is an elf aasimar. Bee is a human aasimar. Bee is more of an archer monk. Bee and Karsh are wrestling each other. [[Klort Hingus]] the foreman is the boss when the mayor isn't there. [[Doriana Menhemes]] is the daughter of the mayor. Bee can apparently heal herself! She and Karsh are best friends now. The don of [[Skram's Ratfolk Family]] is arriving tonight. [[Ruskramigin|Rusk]] is still unconscious but stable. [[The Rowdy Rockfish]] provides housing free of charge and socially-inclined characters can retrain more efficiently there. Bond and Skram copy each other's alchemical stuff. I go to the [[Otari Market]]. There are more consumable stuff because fo the adventurers. - Potions - talismans - Bread - Goggles - Dust - Ammunition - Arrow: shaft is covered in fine green scales. Ironhead has fangs. *Viper arrow*. It turns into a snake and bites the enemy. 17 gold. - *Potion of Quickness*. Haste. 900 silver. - *Sleep arrow*. 110 s. - *Crying angel pendant*. Crit failures become normal failures. 70 sp. I go to the [[Otari Harbor]]. most ships are carrying lumber headed for other ports like [[Absalom]]. There are fishermen there but they don't seem to have monster parts. Skram meets with his don. Sleep! Long rest. I'm wondering how Ash was able to meet the halfling before me. Downtime! Until day 25. ![[golarion-otari-market.png]] - Skram tutors Doriana. Doriana zones out sometimes. Her eyes go white and her pupils go up into her head. Sometimes her eyes dart to a portion of the room even though there's nothing there. - I retrain and get *Martial Artist Dedication* from Ash. - Bond tries to work at [[The Giant's Wheel]] with [[Klort Hingus]] but Klort needs someone good at *Survival* to patrol the flumes and keep out wild animals and children. - He goes to ruins of [[The Thirsty Alpaca]] and tries to figure out why it has collapsed. There are two young kobolds. They were the ones that gave Bond his gun back. They want to be like Bond. They are [[Stonescale Kobolds]] (the ones who used to control the upper level of the keep). They can go places under the town secretly. - He goes to [[Otari Market]]. Bond works there to use *Intimidation* to keep guard. We learned that Calamity's Ruin left the morning after we met them. They come home ragged and injured. They seem to have a big pack of something that they killed there. It's Day 25. We run to [[The Gauntlight]] because we can't be upstaged by [[Calamity's Ruin]]. We go to the ghoul library: [[The Gauntlight#Library of the Canker]] - Four doors that lead to interior rooms. - North door, north passageway - South: leads to big circular room - faint blue glow flickers beneath a sign to the south. One interior room: [[The Gauntlight#Library Storeroom]] - 5x10 cramped storeroom. - Simple wooden case with a closed lid is attached to the back of the door. - The supplies kept here (large barrels) were probably used to extinguish fires. Now they only hold mildew. The case has a wand though! - We find a wand in the case. *Quench* is a second level spell. But nobody can use it! Next room: [[The Gauntlight#Librarians' Quarters]] - 2x4' room with three beds. - Single low table with foul-smelling chunks of flesh and stone. It's a bitten-off morlock head. Third interior room: [[The Gauntlight#Tattoo Parlour]] - 3x3 - two other doors leading out - was once a writing studio but now there is skinned flesh marked by tattoos. The tattoos were placed postmortem. It's a half-completed image of a sinister woman. - Blue-green ghoul is sitting there tattooing another flesh swath. Ash catches his attention and he starts swearing at us in Common. He is listing the humiliating things that he will write on our skin.
