## Session Summary
> [!tldr] [[024_20221020 The Senior Ghoul and the Librarian Ghost]]
> We fought the ghoul we dubbed Senior Ghoul, who seemed to have the abilities of normal ghouls but with extra chances to inflict paralysis on us as well as an ability to gain some sustenance from flesh that it kept on its belt. We killed it before we could find out what those strips of flesh would help it do. We also found a Butchery and a Meat Locker next to the Tattoo Parlour. It seemed that the Senior Ghoul had converted them for his own devious purposes.
>
> Back in the main library, Skram picked the lock of a door through which I could sense some thoughts. It turned out to be the ghost of a librarian/bookbinder named Jarell Kaldrian who wouldn't believe that she was dead, even when we tried to show her her own skeleton. She said that she had been asked by Belcorra to repair books, and mistook us for help that Belcorra had sent her. ^summary

## Log
It's about 5AM.
This room used to be a writing studio.
- Dessicated skin with different tattoos
- Tattoos are writings, post-mortem
- Swathe of pale skin spread out on the desk, with half-completed image of a woman
- Ghoul has a monocle and a snake-like tongue. He's working on the tattoo on the desk. He's complaining about us interrupting his work.
We're calling him [[Senior Ghoul]].

Skram takes flesh from the ghoul.
We hear movement from the south.
We see a divan and a bit more of a circular room. 7 square diameter room.
Skram administers First Aid to stabilize Bond. We spend 70 minutes Treating Wounds.
We hear footsteps approaching, and then they leave.
27 gold worth of ghoul parts. *Darkvision, acrobatics, athletics, intimidation, occultism, religion, stealth, burrow, piercing, light or medium armor*
Crudely-strung lumps of flesh.
Bond pays me back 2 gp of parts.
We spend 30 minutes inspecting the tattooed flesh that's left hanging around the room. The tattoos don't seem magical. They just seem to be snacks.
[[The Gauntlight#Tattoo Parlour]]
- Half-completed image of a woman
- Books about tattoo artistry and historical tattoos, presumably taken from the main library. They're mostly in Common.
- Doors: West and South
Room to the west of the tattoo parlour: [[The Gauntlight#The Butchery]]
- Messy butcher's block
- Shiny silver hatchet wedged in at the top of the desk
- Bits of decaying flesh
- 4x4
- Room to south
Room to south: Meat locker: [[The Gauntlight#The Meat Locker]]
- Heaps of slowly decaying bodies, hung and stacked here.
- Used to be a bedroom but now it's a meat locker.
- 5 dead moorlocks are stored here. No skin, missing some body parts. Would not count as monster parts.
- Lightly chilly
South from tattoo parlour: [[The Gauntlight#Long corridor from tattoo parlour]]
- 35 foot corridor south, ending in door.
It's 8 am.
We go back to the library. Towards the south, Skram smells ghouls.
I sense thoughts from the western door from the library. The door is locked. Skram knocks and tries to talk to whoever's there, but nobody answers. Skram tries to pick the lock and succeeds.
[[The Gauntlight#Bookbinder's repose]]
- Skeleton wearing a light blue librarian's robe lies in a heap near the only stool here.
- 3 Workbenches. Each one is specialized for repairing parchment, binding books, etc.
- Librarian's workroom.
- Slight blue female ghost sitting on an imaginary stool on one of the benches. Her hands are moving like she's doing something on the bench, but she's not actually touching anything and her hands are going through the table.
- old rotting tables, a chair, and rusted unusable tools.
I try to talk to her. She looks up. She's pretty, a young adult. She thinks we're there to help her repair some books. We need to bind and repair so many books and pages and prepare parchments. She doesn't seem to see her own skeleton. She says Belcorra said she would send help.
She doesn't seem to believe that things have changed. She says [[Belcorra]] has taken care of her.
Karsh says [[Sir Eresant]] says there are two ways to handle ghosts: Kill them or find out why they're still around.
I use *Coerce* to try to get her to think critically about her situation and realize she's dead. She seems to put the pieces together and realize something is amiss. But she's still not convinced!
I am [[Jarelle Kaldrian]].
Jaspen Callistair, but call him Bond.
9am. We leave.
