We explored the area south of the chilling room with the twisting light, and saw a shrine to a Gibbering Mouther. It had a doll that had gross, slimy things in it-- maybe parts of the monster. We explored the room to the east of the shrine, which had some sort of Violet Rot fungi that were hidden in a planter. It took a while to kill them because they were hidden, but we eventually did! > > We weren't doing well, so we spent 8 hours researching in the library, as we promised Gunther we would. ^summary --- ## Recap ![[029_20221210 The gnelf that rode a chicken#^summary]] --- ## Log [[High Priestess Nhakazarin]] was the leader of [[Cult of the Canker]]. They worship the statue that we found. We still have a ghoul and a cultist that are alive. 1 pm or so. We are in [[The Gauntlight Level 3 - Ghouls#Altar of the Desecrated God|Altar of the Desecrated God]]. Exits: - Double doors on the north. - Two doors to the south. The ghoul went to the left south door. - One door to the east. - One door to the west. We go to where the lights were. [[Galiath Banderdash]] is there looking at the books. I retrieve the sling. - Exit: door to the south. Door to the south opens to a corridor with a door to the south. That door is closed. Karsh opens the southern room: [[The Gauntlight Level 3 - Ghouls#Shrine of Many Mouths|Shrine of Many Mouths]] - Looks like a horrific shrine. - Rotting fleshy material: eyes, mouth, skin -- lie in a stinking mound - 15x15' - No light source. - Two dozen tiny human effigies made of bone and knotted hair. - Smells awful - Gibbering mouther corpse [[Cult of the Gibbering Mouther]] Skram has to make a Fortitude save when he enters, because of the smell. He takes a doll and it looks like there's something wet inside. I can't really do anything about it. Skram examines the flesh and sees it's from a Gibbering mouther. It's thoroughly dead (for a long time). They speak Aklo, language of the underworld. Their biology defies nature. It could be the [[The Gibbering Mouther]]. It's a Level 5 creature. The flesh is slimy, and so is the doll. ![[golarion-gibbering-mouth.png]] Skram destroys the effigies. He notices that there are sharp teeth and sharp claws on all the dolls. Skram opens the eastern door. - 10x30' room. - dark mound of soil in southern part - door on the northern side of the room. We all go in. Everyone succeeds the Fortitude save except for Bond, who gets sickened and retches. Skram touches the soil and has to roll initiative! A slimy purple tentacle extends from the soil and tries to hit him. ![[1670757242085 - Combat]] Skram got 1 dose of violet rot venom. Monster parts! We all heal up to full. We spend 8 hours in the library with [[Galiath Banderdash|Gunther]]. We get a +1 item bonus to checks to research: - regional history - arcane topics - occult topics Gunther wants to know our specialties. Tell him what we research in 8 hours.
