## Session Summary
> [!tldr] [[032_20230108 Not quite a morlock, not quite a ghoul]]
> The party continued exploring The Gauntlight, discovering a Book Key Room with research materials and an iron key bearing Aroden's symbol. They encountered Augrael, an undead creature feeding on ghouls, who provided valuable information about the dungeon's layout and inhabitants. Augrael explained the daily green light phenomenon, warned them about Petzel (Graulgust's loyal pet), and guided them through various rooms including a former pantry and flooded cavern areas.
>
> Following Augrael's directions, the party found Graulgust's lair where they discovered the morlock leader and his bodyguards had been killed by Calamity's Ruin. They learned that the remaining morlocks now follow a new leader named Dread, who had recently made agreements with both Calamity's Ruin and The Fogfen Mitflits to avoid conflict. The party realized they would need to negotiate with Dread to gain access to the morlock workshops. ^summary

## Log

[[Kuya]] recommended *Knights of Last Call* -- they are a gaming podcast that does different game systems all the time.
What we like:
- Me: Having a map, the system
- Nico: Shooting. Looking forward.
- Ky: Exploration and not knowing what's in the new rooms.
What we want more of:
- Ky: NPCs
- Nico:
Skram's flaw: Skram will do anything for money or profit.
Bond's flaw: Bond is distrustful of magic.
Zuhri/Ash's flaw: *When things go bad, I go feral.*
It's Day 26! 09:00.
[[The Gauntlight#Book Key Room]]
- Books on shelves
- Gently burbling fountain
- We can spend 8 hours here to investigate topics about sacrifice, incorporeal undead, extinguishing living bodies and souls to create powerful magic items.
- No books on devils
- Famous hauntings of the Inner Sea region.
- Iron key between two cushions: symbol of [[Aroden]]/[[Tyr]]!
- Book that the [[Lurker in light]] was reading: *Pathways of the worm*, a grisly description of ritual sacrifices.
We go to the south room at the end of the corridor near the Eye room.
- this room is as big as the lit ghoul lounge, but it's a cross.
- Several long couches, cracked leather cushions, dead plants in planter boxes, long-dry fountain depicting a lighthouse.
- There's a creature here that seems to have been dead for a long time. It's currently eating what seems to be the remains of a ghoul. It smiles at us and returns to eating ghoul parts. It's also undead.
- One exit to the east.
- Sofa to the south and west.
- Three random sofas all around. The creature is in the middle eating a ghoul.
Initiative!

I ask him to join us. He's okay if we kill [[Graulgust]], but not so much of the others.
[[Augrael]] is his name. He tells us a few things:
- The green light happens every day. We just have to go back to that room and then follow it.
- It seems we're all goblins to him!
- He tells us that the door near us is the easiest way to get to the morlock level.
- [[Petzel]] is the loyal pet of Graulgust that follows only him. Petzel is bigger than Graulgust. It's nice when it licks you, but bad when it bites you. It's sort of a worm: no feet, two arms, wriggling things on its head. Small arms, slimy all over.
- He doesn't even know that a [[The Gibbering Mouther]] is at the bottom of their well.
We go east, south up the stairs to what he calls the pantry.
- 2x4 square room
- Fragments of shelving that has been screwed/cut off by tools.
- It's no longer a pantry.
- It has two other exits: one south, one west.
- West eventually leads to Graulgust.
- South: the morlocks' shrine to the Ghost Queen.
- Augrael: The Ghost Queen once walked these halls, but she doesn't do that anymore.
- There are definitely going to be people there.
We go west.
- Stairs, then door to the south - Augrael said to ignore it because they don't open it. It's locked anyway.
We go further east up the stairs.
- It's part of the outside already.
- It's a small cave. There is a swampy flooded cavern.
- There are a few ruined rowboats.
- Remnants of a pulley system that ferries a floating platform from here to the pier, but it is broken.
- There are wet footsteps.
- The cavern in the north contained a monster they were all afraid of. ([[Swamp Dragon]])
We squeeze into the tunnel and find ourselves in another room.
- Reconstructed furniture to fit morlock forms.
- Dozens of bones
- Narrow rivulet going to the south goes into a puddle in the room.
- Mostly rectangular, about 4x5 squares.
- We came in from the west.
- Exit:
- door to east
- puddle leading to the south
- There are four dead morlocks here. Graulgust is one of them!
![[uu-morlock-caster.png]]
![[uu-morlock-skirmisher.png]]
He doesn't know "all percent" of what we're saying.
The pet isn't here. We go south towards the river. It opens into a natural cavern underground.
- Dangling pallid roots to the south.
- Beneath roots is a large soggy nest of mud, bones, flesh.
- The pet is here, dead.
Exit: east from the natural cavern.
[[Grothlut]]: man-sized, snail-like thing with low intelligence. It's Level 3. It's a mindless aberration.
Augrael walk further to the east.
- 3x2 square room
- Desk in the middle
- 3 empty picture frames on walls
- 2 morlocks here that look afraid of Augrael.
[[Calamity's Ruin]] was here - they killed only Graulgust and his loyal bodyguards. They told the morlocks not to let others in.
The morlocks have a new leader. His name is [[Dread]]. He and the rest of the party were here a few hours ago. He told them not to fight. No fighting with Calamity's Ruin, no fighting with [[The Fogfen Mitflits]] either.
If we want access to the morlock workshops, we need to talk to Dread.
