They briefly reunited with [[Galiath Banderdash]] who was departing with [[Dahak]] and books, then continued exploring through the alchemical workshop and discovered more secret passages leading to summoning chambers and underground caverns with pools and combat encounters. ^summary --- ## Recap ![[032_20230108 Not quite a morlock, not quite a ghoul#^summary]] --- ## Log We went west from the room with the morlocks and Augrael. - Trash, broken weapons inside the room - Door to the far end of the room, heading north (heading to throne room) - connects to it, which is where we saw Graulgust dead. - There are things written in chalk on the walls-- arrows and cracks in the wall encircled. - The chalk is actually pointing to a trip wire that we might not have seen otherwise. - There are four trip wires in this room - 10x20. - The morlocks have a junk box of stuff Eastern room - hallway with 3 doors on each side. - Each one opens to a 10x10 room where morlocks are sleeping Other end of the hallway opens into a cross-shaped room - large open area - collapse on the south side that clogs it with rubble - half-eaten fish, cat-sized beetles next to gnawed bones of larger creatures - there are 4 morlocks fiddling with a ballista. - [[Jaspen Bond Callistair|Bond]] thinks he can help them fix the ballista. - 1 exit: east - This is where the morlocks fled when we were chasing them. - 2 other doors on east that lead to where morlocks live. - 1 leads to the long hallway. - Turrets on the machine now have ballistas mounted on them, but they've been recently destroyed. Hallway: - 2 doors to workshop - 1 secret room with the three chairs - 19 square corridor - at the end: exits - door to west - door to east - door to the north (green light is still there) - passageway that turns to the left We go east: - 15x10' room - filled with tools - silver-headed cane lies among a tangle of mops and buckets - north and south door (we came from the west) We go north. - There's a door to the north and we knock on it. - We see a small, baby-like thing with multifaceted eyes and clear wings on its back. Front half is baby-like, bottom half is insectile. Two small hands. Long tongue that's licking the floor and cleaning it. It's a low-grade silver sword cane. West door. - torture instruments - north: stretching rack - south pillory - rusty tongs, whips Karsh and [[Jaspen Bond Callistair|Bond]] smash stuff and then we leave. we go into the northern romo with - washroom - northern wall glows and shimmers with rippling green light. - [[Skram|Skram]] suddenly feels like he's close to death. His heart is beating furiously and he's afraid of getting chased, but he doesn't know why. He feels he's been here before. He has an urge to run west. - exits - west 5 squares and ends in a door to the hallway - double door to north We go to the west door as [[Skram|Skram]] insists. - 3x4 square room with another door on the opposite - ruined tables, large bones (larger than human-sized) that have been scorched and bludgeoned. - There's a secret door in the wall with a staircase behind it. We go through the secret staircase - leads down into level 3. ([[The Gauntlight#Alchemical workshop]]) We see [[Galiath Banderdash]], who says goodbye to us as he heads back to [[Otari]] with books. He has [[Dahak]] with him. We go to the alchemical workshop - We've inspected all six alcoves here. - One of the toolboxes on the wall is attached to the wall, and it's actually a lever. - We find ourselves in the [[The Gauntlight#Stairs up from the mist (north)]]) We go to a room where the ghoul escaped. - There is a secret door in this room. - Leads to 10' hallway, then a door. We enter that door. - 3x3 square room. - Another door on the opposite side (south) - Eastern wall: There is a small alcove. Floor decorated with inlaid runes. - [[Jaspen Bond Callistair|Bond]] and [[Skram|Skram]] thinks this is largely decorative. - I think it has a dastardly purpose. This room probably held something against its will from the material plane. Something was summoned here. It came from hell, but it's been sent back now. Whatever was here is no longer here. - Otherwise empty. South door leads to a hallway of 15' then turns sharply east. Goes into a large cavern underground. - Cold, damp air - East: sizable pond. 3x5 square long - Cavern is irregularly shaped. 8x8 on average. - Lazy rivulet trickling down - 5' hole gapes in ceiling above pool.
