## Session Summary

> The party met Vayle, a new ally who had been communicating with Skram through dreams, at Odd Stories bookstore. They visited various locations in Otari including Vandy Banderdash to identify a soul gem, and Wrin's Wonders for guidance. The party returned to The Gauntlight and discovered a soulbound goblin named Borbo in the alchemical workshop. After placing the soul gem in the goblin, Borbo's soul was freed and the party received divine blessing from Pharasma. They then descended to Level 4 of The Gauntlight, discovering a banquet hall with animated skeletons and exploring several rooms including a kitchen and storage area where animated tools attacked them. ^summary

## Log
[[Skram]]'s leaving to study more about the undead. He was informed in his dreams that there's another person who will be a useful person to the party. [[Skram]] will research in [[Dawnflower Library]].
We go to [[Odd Stories]].
- 3-storey stone tower rises from a one-floor wooden bookstore.
- Sign outside: open book with magical energy rising from its pages.

- He's always scowling. He's not that old. He's talking to us but isn't looking at us.

- He can cast *Detect magic* to identify languages, magic items, etc.
- We all leave, except for someone with orange-red hair and an aristocratic hat. They notice when we leave and talk about the fire necklace. They introduce themselves as [[Vayle]].

- They talked to [[Skram]] in a dream.
- They live in [[Otari]] - they've lived here for a while.
We go to [[Vandy Banderdash]] and ask her to identify the soul gem.
- She says the soul needs to move on, but she doesn't know what to do about it. She's never seen something like this before.
We go to [[Wrin's Wonders]].
- She's had no dreams of [[Vayle]].
- She feels [[The Gauntlight]] is the same-- nothing has really changed yet.
[[Vayle]] thinks the light in [[The Gauntlight Level 3 - Ghouls#Library of the Canker]] comes from even further underneath it.
We go back to [[The Gauntlight Level 2 - Morlocks#Alchemical workshop]].
We go upstairs to [[The Gauntlight Level 1 - Mitflits#Tinkerer's toyroom]]. The spyglass isn't there anymore.
We go back to [[The Gauntlight Level 2 - Morlocks#Alchemical workshop]]. [[Jaspen Bond Callistair|Bond]] thinks the soulbound gem that he has is linked to the goblin in the tank. There's another armless, legless goblin with a slot at the back that looks like the one at the back of the Soulbound Doll.

[[Jaspen Bond Callistair|Bond]] looks at the preservation journal. He knows the soul can be transferred into a body or a swarm of vermin.
We put the gem in! The doll starts talking in a language we don't understand. It's the same soul that was in the doll. [[Borbo]] is his name. He seems to really want us to kill him. He doesn't seem to want us to try to put him back in his body (that of the goblin servant, which he confirmed). The gem seems to be diminished. We feel the divine hand of [[Pharasma]], the god of death. We all get advantage on one roll for one month. The soul gem is now an empty, 5gp gem.
We find [[Galiath Banderdash]] and ask him for the potions and scrolls that his sister [[Vandy Banderdash]] told us she'd given to him:
- 4 potions of healing.
- 2 scrolls of Heal
- 4 vials of holy water

We go down to Level 4 from the Lurker in Light room. Level 4! Level 4!
- We smell dust and faint spices.
- 5x7 square room

- 25 ft-long banquet table, high-backed chairs. The table has a feast on it as if it were freshly made.
- 4 pairs of chairs on each side, a chair at either end.
- We see people talking, cheering, dressed in ancient fashion, but we hear no sound. As we watch, they hold their necks. Some stab each other, run to the doors, and fall to the floor. Vision changes. Now it's all empty, there are four skeletons slumped on the table wearing tattered finery. Some are still clutching their necks in their deaths.

- 4 lights on the skeletons start to glow. Skellies jerk up and attack. (2 are on the table, 2 are on the floor)

Sniper
- If [[Ashnefrotty|Ash]] hits, [[Jaspen Bond Callistair|Bond]] gets a bonus to hitting.
- We're never in each other's way.
- We have to hit the same target.
[[Vayle]] had tried to link spirits with [[Karsh]], but [[Karsh]] refused earlier on. After combat, they ask him why. He doesn't like their magic. [[Vayle]] claims no god was involved in their magic.
No thoughts in this area except for one room that has not been opened.
1st room:
- plate room.

2nd room
- dusty metal washtub
- closer to the thoughts I sensed
- scent of harsh dish soap, then it dissipates.
- some scratch marks on the metal washtub.
- low shelf is probably where plates are placed that should be washed.
3rd room
- cupboard, shelves, cabinets
- one skeleton slumped near a barrel.

- squat iron stove with no chimney
- 15x15 foot room
- large oak table on north covered with cooking utensils
- we see the marks on the floor where the body of the cook stood up, walked from here.
- I light the stove with flint and steel. It lights too easily. The smoke that the stove generates just disappears.

We walk in and the tools start coming alive and shoot out at us!
