## Log
Downtime!
- [[Babolt|Bolt]]
- [[Wrin Sivinxi]] says that us saving [[Lazda Venkervale]] stopped a chain of events that could have wrecked the town, but there's still danger.
- There are new hirelings and wealthy merchants in [[Otari]]. There are some thieves going after the merchants' stuff, but then we also see some other thieves steal stuff back and give it to the merchants. [[The Osprey Club]] are the ones stealing stuff back!
- [[Vayle]]
- [[Shawanti|Bee]] is practicing and doing her kata and [[Ashnefrotty|Ash]] seems to have a look on his face while watching her as if he's remembering something.
- Me
- [[Karsh]] went out with [[Calamity's Ruin]]. They're still in the [[Crook's Nook]]
- I look for [[Galiath Banderdash|Gunther]]. I see a beat-down, fat human with a topknot. His clothes are torn. He has a limp and is bloody. He has a scabbard but no sword. He's walking through town. He is startled by my presence when I come up to him. He is surprised I'm real. He's clutching a book. I cast *Soothe* on him.
- "Something followed us in there and has followed me out here" he says, pointing to the lighthouse.
- He was a party of four and he's the only one that survived.
- His name is [[Zelf]]. He's a low-level adventure, about level 1. He is deathly afraid of something.
- He gives me the book of his records of the first three levels.
- I take him to [[Vandy Banderdash]].
- Bond
- The Osprey Club
- Asks [[Yin Yasmera]] about how their behavior has changed recently, but she doesn't admit anything.
- Vayle
- Zuhri
- Vandy says she'll ask people if they want their loved ones' bodies taken care of "permanently", and those whose bodies aren't claimed can be spared. Vandy will try to sort out the issue with the other clerics of [[Pharasma]]. She's sure they'll want to dispose of the undead, but not that they'll consent to help [[Augrael]].
- Healing potions from [[Magiloi]].
- She has two lesser healing potions. I buy one and Bond buys the other.
- I drink a fiery drink. [[Cossuk's Kiss]]. Resist 2 to fire. It's normally 5 sp each.
- I can earn 3 sp per day at [[Otari Market]].
- Bond works at [[Blades for Glades]].
- Earns 2sp per day for [[Carman Rajani]]. He leaaves and comes back drunk. He always has a bloody nose or a split lip. He complains that his life is empty - he's lost his wife. The only thing that's of value in his life is a sword that is now displayed in the library. It's a blade of [[Vol Rajani]] and it should be his, but the [[Mayor Oseph Menhemes]] donated it to [[Dawnflower Library]].
- Vayle
- Notices there's a beggar along her route. He doesn't get a lot of coins. He says a lot of random things to get people's attention. One of the things he says: "[[The Roseguard|Roseguard]] this and Roseguard that. You'd think they lived happily ever after, wouldn't you? But I know better. Give me a silver and I'll tell you more." Vayle gives him 1 sp.
- Right after the Roseguard defeated [[Belcorra]], they all went insane. They didn't die immediately-- they died slowly. Everyone here is covering it up! They want you to think that they're big heroes, powerful heroes that saved the town. But they don't tell you what happened afterwards. They just hid them all away and told you stories. Go ask their descendants what really happened.
- The first Roseguard was [[Vol Rajani]]. She was exiled from the country of Nidal. She's most known for her blade, called the *Rosa Argentis*. She's known as the Rose Knight, named after her thorny blade and rose-tinted armor. It's because of her that they called themselves the Roseguard.
- The second was named [[Zarmavdian]]. His origin is unknown. He claimed to be from one of the dwarven sky citadels in the north. Maybe even from [[Dongoon]], right next to [[Alkenstar]]. But Zarmavdian isn't a dwarven name. Must be a title. He has no relatives, but it's said that he left his spellbook here.
- The third Roseguard was known as The Huntress. [[Esefna Menhemes]]. The youngest of the Roseguard - just a teenager when they came together. Her skill with the bow was great. She had the favor of [[Erastil]], the wilderness god. Eventually, she became the leader.
- The last of the Roseguard is named [[Otari Ilvashti]]. The town is named after the person who died in that attack against Belcorra. Otari grew up as an orphan in [[Absalom]] and became a pirate. He was caught once, but spared by a cleric of [[Cayden Cailean]] and that turned around his life. He instead became devoted to justice. He was eventually known as The Sea Hawk because he would swoop down and free slaves from slaving vessels. [[The Osprey Club]] was named after him. The owner of that club fancies themselves as honourable thieves. He was the moral compass of the Roseguard.
- Zuhri
- There's a big explosion in town. It's a lightning explosion! There are three goblins arguing. They're hauling a mobile workshop behind them. They don't seem to be arguing about who caused the explosion. They are talking about how it should have been bigger. They're talking about how to make it look nice. They have a lot of bottles, vials, burners, and other things. One of the goblins is better dressed than the other two. Her name is [[Efsa]]. They're making explosives for adventurers. [[Ozea]] is one of the others (also female). Efsa is here to make the business.
- One more of lightning bottle thing. 10 gp.
- ([[Kweh]] is the male goblin.)
- Five bottles.
- First is lightning. Good for zombies and skeletons. (10 gp)
- Light, clear liquid. Tsunami inside. It's not that strong though. Enough for a small group of monsters. (10 gp)
- Kweh's favourite - he invented it. It's the goo grenade. (10 gp) Sticks to things, then burns them (not with fire).
- Specialty: adventurers particular with whom they're fighting. Alignment ampoule that does alignment damage.
- Most expensive: empty bottle. It's bright. There's light inside. Sun in a bottle. Strength of the sun. (20 gp)
- [[Keeleno Lathanar]] knows of The Sea Hawk.
- Bond
- Finds someone who wants him to cook. Black-skinned man with a topknot. [[Ngwen-nyeh]] is his name. Untrained task. He's actually a hard taskmaster, it turns out. Gets a custom feat named *[[Seasoned]]*.
- Ash shares why he wanted to be here before he died. He came here to save his prized student, [[Jade Quarion|Jade]], again. He sent him to check out demonic activity in this area, but Jade never returned. He thinks Jade died. He would have wanted to entrust this important task to the new Master of the Sanctuary, [[Maestro]]. Maestro was never sent here because Ash didn't get to give that instruction. He learned that while he was watching Bee train.
- He remembers seeing Zuhri covered in blood when they first met.
- Vayle
- Gets stalked by a skeletal figure that asks them to come back with him. The Mistress wants you back.
- Vandy
- 90% of the people she's talked to don't agree with Augrael. 10% haven't answered yet. She thinks that's a good sign. She needs to think of a political way around this.
- Vol Rajani's sword is hanging on the wall about 15 feet up. Carman has been eyeing the mayor's position for a long time, but he's lost twice or thrice. He takes it very badly, throws a tantrum, and gets into fights. The Mayor got the position *and* the sword when he won. They've been at it for years.
- A book with a particular title catches my eye: *Becoming the worm that walks.* It documents how one might become a worm. I spent a day researching it. Most of it is far beyond me. It's for someone who is trained in Occultism. There's a reference to finding a hole or place where you can lie down and be covered by the worms fully from head to toe, and then a ritual that involves you surrendering your soul and transferring it to the worms. A bathtub can serve this purpose. One of the main benefits is that you retain your consciousness and powers but you have a tougher body which is practically impervious to death. The only known way to kill any worm that walks is to destroy all the worms at one time when it discorporates. If a single worm survives, the soul is intact and it can reform in one week by calling more worms to it.
- Check on [[Ruskramigin|Rusk]] and [[Skram]].
- Rusk is awake and is absent-minded. He says there's something wrong with him. Sometimes he's there and then he's somewhere else and keeps happening. He could hear voices he couldn't understand, and feel burning hot pain. It was dark. He doesn't remember what happened to him. He was strapped to a table. He feels good now though. He can see from above. Some of the Usoki say that one of the runes glows when he spaces out.
- [[Menhemes Manor]] with Bond.
- Why did you confiscate Carman Rajani's sword? Mayor: The two of us are the only living descendants of the Roseguard here in town. I took it upon myself to safeguard precious momentos. Carman used to have the blade, but because he had bad luck, he lost his family, his daughter (who's still alive, but they're not on speaking terms). The Mayor donated it to the library instead of here in his mansion. If Carman sobers up, Otarians would let him take the sword again.
- Her daughter's in a coma. Has been for the last four days. She calls to him in his brain. "Help me. I can't wake up. Where are you?" over and over again.
- [[Doriana Menhemes]] is gaunt and hasn't seem to have eaten in days, even though they've fed her. She's in good physical health.
- He allows me to tell Wrin Sivinxi about her. He says there are rumours that Wrin saved her homeland by predicting doom and telling people what was going to happen.
- Bond
- Encounters some dogs and I intimidate them away.
- We hear a rumour that two of Calamity's Ruin have died. Gear and Karsh!!
- This wasn't true. But Karsh and Gear, according to [[Dread]], turned on them.
