They encountered a massive ghoul that turned out to be their former companion Karsh, engaged in a brief combat with a mysterious eye creature, and spent time researching ways to help Karsh while discovering a portal to the banquet hall. They also intimidated clerics of Pharasma and threatened Augrael about Karsh's safety. ^summary %% ## Video [Video]() %% --- ## Recap ![[046_20230812 Karsh the undead#^summary]] --- ## Log - Taunt mechanic - Intimidate - Demoralize (30 ft) We go to Level 1. One of their maggots has hatched into a fly and they're taking turns flying it. Level 2. Diorama. All the traps seem to have been disabled. We go through the double door. There's a cross-shaped table that seemse to be badly damaged. Looks like there has been an explosion here. The wood has been nicked in several places. The entire floor is covered in webbing. The table in the centre has been cleared of most webs and there is an illusory map of [[Absalom]] as it appeared hundreds of years ago. It's a 3D map. We don't see anything else here. We go into a secret alcove. - 2 lesser healing potion - one to [[Vayle]], one to [[Jaspen Bond Callistair|Bond]] - 2 Bravo's Brews (drinks for resisting fear) - one to Vayle, one to Zuhri - 2 other vials of something we don't recognize. - Level 4 Barkskin potion (second level Barkskin spell) for 10 minutes. - goes to Zuhri - Level 1 Skeptic's Elixir (see through lies, item bonus to perception) - goes to Vayle ![[1692438953520 - Combat]] The party encountered a mysterious eye creature that inflicted damage and status effects on multiple party members. After a brief but intense combat involving grappling, deception attempts, and escape attempts, the combat was interrupted and restarted multiple times before concluding. Vayle is stabilized but not healed up. We see the largest ghoul we've ever seen... it's [[Karsh]]! Bond finds a portal that goes to the banquet hall. It requires a specific spell, *Awakened portal*. There's a chance (if you critically fail) that you end up elsewhere. We spend 4 hours waiting for Vayle and another 4 hours to research in the library. Ash and Zuhri realize it's impossible to un-undead someone. The only other ways would be polymorph or divine intervention. But we do stumble across something about how primal casters use *Reincarnate* ritual. As long as the target is willing, they can be reincarnated into a different ancestry (undead or not). I also find a copy of this ritual. Level 3. We notice chalk marks on the floor. It reminds me of a game that I used to play with my sister (biological). I threatened [[Augrael]] by saying that we will eat him if he so much as touches Karsh. He has a weakness to something I said. I intimidate the two clerics of Pharasma into leaving.
