He goes to the curtain of light. He says he can feel "them" but they're quiet. He just knows they're there. He thinks his companions made this barrier. Otari gives [[Vayle]] a key. As we free more people who deserve to be free, people will trust us more. They can cast *Freedom of movement* once per day using it. It gives a tug towards the barrier. Vayle walks through the curtain. there are two ghostly figures: ![[uu-ghost.png]] The tunnel goes down as far as the light can see. The two figures look like Otari, but brighter. They hover towards Vayle, towards the barrier. As the key passes through the barrier, the barrier weakens, disappears a bit, but is still opaque to everyone on the outside. It's like the key is thinning or opening a part of the barrier. [[Ashnefrotty|Ash]] is immune to the aura for the next 24 hours. ![[1698485155720 - Combat]] The party engaged two ghostly figures that appeared when Vayle used the key to pass through the barrier. The ghosts resembled Otari Ilvashti but were brighter and more ethereal. During the combat, one ghost grabbed Otari and they both disappeared behind the curtain, with Otari telling the party to find other items of his friends that would help them and to find out why they need him. - Z1: Boost - Z1: Tandem move - A1: Dragonstance - A1: [[Esefna Menhemes|Osefna]]'s item is [[Cloak of the Huntress]]. --- They went back to [[Otari]] to try to get permission to get the sword from [[Dawnflower Library]]. [[Mayor Oseph Menhemes]] said yes, but when we got there, someone had started a fire and stolen the sword! [[Captain Lardus Longsaddle]] was there, investigating the scene. [[Carman Rajani]] was the suspect. He wasn't at the smithy or home. They went to the wizard shop. [[Zarmavdian]]'s spellbook had been sold to the main library in [[Absalom]]. They were trying to hide the fact that they were not doing so well. If we want to go there, [[Morlibinth]] can introduce us to the head library at the atheneaum since he's licensed. 10 day overland travel. Morlibinth was envious of Vayle's ability to do magic without studying. We learned that [[Galiath Banderdash|Galiath]] had sold them a whole lot of books from the library in the Gauntlight. [[Odd Stories]] is a bookshop/tower. The napalm grenade used at the library was not meant to be too destructive. It was probably meant as a distraction and was made of ingredients that could be found at a smith. They realised that Carman heard them when they were there at the mayor's, and then he went and beat them to it. Went to the smithy. Nobody was there and it looked like Carman had left in a hurry. The tools there were of shoddy quality. Went to [[Dot Rajani]]. She didn't seem to know what her father was up to and seemed to have been trying to actively ignore him, actually. But she did say that there was a fishing spot on the outskirts of Otari where they used to go as a family. She gave us that location. We went there. Had to climb a 20-foot cliff. Carman was there! Sword was at his side. A fight ensued. Carman was obviously very good at fighting. Everyone ran away. They heard a large splash as something hit the water.
