# [[066_20240420 Malleus the Skeletal Knight with the Catfolk Skull]]
![[066_20240420.svg]]
## Session Summary
> [!tldr] [[066_20240420 Malleus the Skeletal Knight with the Catfolk Skull]]
> The party receives upgrades to their equipment and the opportunity to gain **Suli heritage** (though it would replace their current heritage). They also establish secret personal goals: easy objectives include integrating with civilization, sparing lives, and overcoming fears, while hard goals involve atoning for [[Zuhri]]'s tiger ambush actions and helping [[Ashnefrotty|Ash]] fulfill his purpose.
>
> Character relationships develop further: [[Jaspen Bond Callistair|Bond]] conflicts with [[Zuhri]]'s rebellious nature, Ash and Bond bond over their lawful alignment, [[Vayle]] resents Bond's moral impositions while admiring his code, and [[Grumblebum|Grumble]] finds the group's tree-climbing habits and Ash-Zuhri synchronization odd. Grumble receives a boon from his deity [[Torog]], gaining a dwarf ancestry effect.
>
> The party encounters **[[Holes]]** and **[[Arnoald]]**, two humans from **[[Arbor Felix]]**—a town name that triggers hazy memories for [[Zuhri]] from her feral days. They meet [[Malleus]], a catfolk with a mysterious skull who doesn't remember how he acquired it. Vayle has a disturbing dream featuring [[Malik]] of [[The Voidseekers]], where a dog named Roscoe reveals Vayle can't hide their true withered nature. The party wakes to find the creepy doll watching them again, now with "Grumblebum" written on her dress. ^summary

## Recap
![[065_20240413 Freedom for the Coalition#^summary]]
---
## Log
- Before they left, they touched us and upgraded our equipment.
147.25 gp worth of monster parts *bludgeoning, slashing, piercing, immunity: All, strength, dexterity, neutral alignment, athletics, acrobatics, intimidation*
We also have the option of gaining a new heritage: [Suli](https://2e.aonprd.com/Traits.aspx?ID=310). But we'd have to replace our current heritage with it...
- Retrain one spell
- Secret goals
%%
Secret goals
Easy (Accomplish 3)
- Integrate with Civilization: Open a shop, learn to cook, attend a ball, conduct social ceremonies, enroll in a school, work at a library, etc.
- Spare a life instead of killing someone who deserves it.
- Overcome a fear (captivity, torture).
- Never again be captured.
- Never be subjected to rituals without your consent.
- In a time of need, succeed with Diplomacy rather than Intimidation.
- Use your feral skills (climbing, tracking) to serve a higher purpose (understanding, justice, faith, sacrifice, etc).
Hard (Accomplish 1)
- Find out and atone for your actions as a member of the tiger ambush.
- Understand your bond with [[Ashnefrotty|Ash]] and help him fulfill his goals.
%%
- New aspects
- *Slightly feral*: In social situations, I'm still prone to growling or jumping on top of furniture.
- *Fear/hate captivity*: Hostile or fearful against pain, capture, rituals
- Inter-party bonds
- [[Jaspen Bond Callistair|Bond]] has some conflict with [[Zuhri]] because she likes to be rebellious and calls it being free.
- However, Ash gets along really well with [[Jaspen Bond Callistair|Bond]] - he's also lawful and wants to help people and admires the way Ash and [[Jaspen Bond Callistair|Bond]] really work together.
- [[Vayle]] resents [[Jaspen Bond Callistair|Bond]] for trying to impose ideals he's grown up with on other people. But they also admire [[Jaspen Bond Callistair|Bond]] for sticking to Bond's moral code.
- [[Jaspen Bond Callistair|Bond]] and Grumble are both far from their homes.
- [[Vayle]] has a strong connection to Zuhri because they're both alone and different.
- [[Grumblebum|Grumble]] thinks it's weird that Ash and Zuhri are always together because he likes being solitary. The way they move at the same time is weird. The whole group is weird because they take every opportunity to climb a tree.
- Grumble got a boon from his deity, [[Torog]]
- Gain effect of single dwarf ancestry of Torog's choice
[[Holes]] and [[Arnoald]] are the two humans from [[Arbor Felix]], a nearby town. For some reason, the name of the place is familiar. I've heard of it vaguely from when I was wild, when I was thinking and feeling like an animal from before I was thinking like a person. Arbor Felix was one of the places I ate in but my memory is hazy. It's probably about two days away, in generally the same direction of Absalom.
[[Jaspen Bond Callistair|Bond]] isn't happy with them. But they claim it was all the dead guy's fault.
[[Holes]] has a dirty mohawk. We take 80 gp of jewelry from them.
[[Malleus]] shows us his skull. [[Varlon]] is terrified and cries and runs away. [[Malleus]] is catfolk. But he doesn't know how he got the catfolk skull-- he just "woke up like this".
Long rest!
[[Vayle]] has a dream
- They're in a marketplace bartering with a shopkeeper for food
- Pet dog: small, impressionable cute white poodle. There's something wrong with it. It looks like a person. Its name is Roscoe. They snap their fingers in front of his face but he doesn't blink. They ask the shopkeeper but they're not making words, just sounds. In fact everything looks blurry. The only thing clear is Roscoe staring up at them with big black eyes and their feet on the ground.
- Roscoe says: "So you see me now, do you?"
- "Have you been asleep all this time?"
- [[Vayle]] runs to [[Dawnflower Library]]. The dog says "Do you think you can go there? Look at your arms." [[Vayle]]'s arms slowly wither to their bones like they currently have.
- [[Vayle]] is told by the dog that they can't hide who they really are.
- Roscoe turns into [[Malik]], in the cloak with the brand of [[The Voidseekers]].
We wake up with the creepy doll looking at us again, with the word "Grumblebum" on her dress.
No game next week!
