[[Vayle]] reveals they infiltrated [[Malik]]'s cult, **[[The Voidseekers]]**, and successfully prevented them from summoning something or opening a portal in [[The Gauntlight]], though this may have caused collateral damage to potentially innocent cultists. > > On their 10th day of travel (during a full moon), the party encounters a **petrified horse and cart** turned to stone, along with all their contents. They discover this was caused by a **mutant basilisk-related creature** with more than four legs, a 60-foot speed, climb speed, and 30-foot petrification range. They also meet a nervous delivery rider from **[[Gallentine Deliveries]]** heading to [[Absalom]]. > > Arriving at **[[Arbor Felix]]**, the party finds a heavily fortified village with traps, displayed humanoid skeletons, and xenophobic policies. [[Hunter Elise]], a level 9 ranger with commanding presence, initially attacks them, declaring "Demihumans are not welcome." During the full moon, both Bond and Vayle fail to resist werewolf transformation, requiring the party to tie them up, grapple, blindfold, and gag them for everyone's safety. ^summary %% ## Video [Video]() %% --- ## Recap ![[066_20240420 Malleus the Skeletal Knight with the Catfolk Skull#^summary]] --- ## Log Anime recommendations - Ky - a movie: *Castle in the Sky* - Ky - TV show: *Frieren* - Kuya - *Fullmetal Alchemist* [[Jaspen Bond Callistair|Bond]] has changed - He's changing subclass to *Way of the Spellshot* - His secondary stat is changing from Charisma to Intelligence We have just talked to [[Holes]] and [[Arnoald]], who say they come from [[Arbor Felix]]. [[Vayle]] said they dreamed about some guy, [[Malik]]. He's the one who signed the letter on the dead body in [[The Gauntlight]]. They infilitrated Malik's cult, [[The Voidseekers]]. Malik is one of the names you wanted to cross out. - The Voidseekers are fanatic maniacs who tried to convince Otarians to join them but all they really wanted to do was die in a strange way. The cult has taken away many of their friends. It isn't just their own deaths-- they want to "share" that with others. - Malik was a leader. Vayle didn't get too far. But Vayle was able to stop them from summoning something or opening a portal in The Gauntlight. They probably caused some collateral damage, if some of the cultists were good. - Vayle is trying to figure out whether Malik is real or not. Everyone but [[Grumblebum|Grumble]] has been touched by Suli elementals. Our elements are ash (smoke?) and air. We take a long rest! This is our 10th day on the road. Full moon is today. Vayle is empowered today when they wake up. Grumble has 5 hero points. We're four days away from Absalom. [[Daytime activities]] - Forage - Guard - Scout - Hide in plain sight - Busk - Chronicle - Entertain - Get gossip (if we meet anyone) - Pray - Rob - Track - Detect magic - Befriend animal [[Vayle]] prays to [[Melani]]. One other person can get a type of guidance from Melani on Vayle's behalf. Bond chronicles fauna and flora in this place. Bonus to checks in this region. [[Zuhri]] and [[Ashnefrotty|Ash]] scout ahead. There are no tracks. There's almost nobody here. But there's a wagon beign pulled by a horse about 100 feet in front of us. The wagon is motionless, along with the horse, but there's no rider. They're all (the horse and wagon) a strange colour-- gray. We go back to the party. - *Occultism check.* It's not so much that the colour was drained. It's like the colour was a side effect of something that happened to the horse and the cart. Something happened to both of them that changed their colour to gray. We see a lone rider on a camel galloping past. Horses are relatively rare in this island of Kortos where Otari is because: - There are centaurs in this area and they find the use of horses offensive. - Harpies are common here, and they find horses a delicacy. Vayle casts *Command* on the traveller so that he stops. He looks worried. He says "Please don't hurt me. I mean you no harm. I'm just passing through." He says he's late for his delivery and he's going to Absalom. He's with Gallentine Deliveries. Grumble rolls a critical success to navigate. We get to the horse and the cart, and they're made of stone. The cart is full of stuff, but all of the supplies and art objects are also made of stone. There were paintings, pouches of rings. The horse seems to be frightened. It had a saddle. - Bond finds footprints that aren't humanoid in a nearby hill. We think this was a creature with more than four legs. Ash and Bond think this is a mutant beast related to basilisk. - It has no weaknesses. We know it has a petrifying range of 30 feet and a speed of 60 feet. It has a climb speed of 60 feet. We get to Arbor Felix. It's heavily fortified. It looks like they are very prepared against threats. As we go towards the town, we step right into traps! Zuhri triggers a poison needle trap. 7 persistent damage. Ash does *Treat Poison* and gives Zuhri a +2 circumstance bonus for the next time she makes a save. We go towards the city. There are humanoid bipedal skeletons that are hanging on the wall and displayed. None of this is familiar to me. It seems like they've made a village a fortress. They are hesitant to let us in because of the many dangers that come in different forms. They don't have need for money. What can we bring a city that's just trying to survive? Ash suggests that we are adventurers and can help them fight. "Go call [[Hunter Elise]]. This sort looks capable or dangerous. It's up to her to decide which one." We have to wait. A woman with green hair cut short on one side has an arrow on her back. She's clad in leather armor. She has a strong, commanding presence. "Please come into the light so we can see your faces. They say you're seeking shelter in the night." We are asked to step into the night and get shot at: - Vayle - Malleus - Zuhri - Varlon (because he ran) "Demihumans are not welcome in this village." Hunter Elise is an accomplished hunter. She's a ranger and she stands like it. She's level 9. They fire at me!!! - A1: Stride - Z3: Gravitational Pull Bond and Vayle both fail to resist the urge to transform into werewolves. We've tied them up twice and grappled, blindfolded, and gagged them. - Z1: Protect Companion - Z1: Stride - Z1: Shield - A1: Tandem Strike **Combat Summary**: The party was attacked by [[Hunter Elise]] and the villagers of [[Arbor Felix]] who declared "Demihumans are not welcome." During the full moon, both Bond and Vayle transformed into werewolves, requiring the party to restrain them for safety while fighting off the xenophobic villagers. %% # Text Elements # Drawing ```json {"type":"excalidraw","version":2,"source":"https://github.com/zsviczian/obsidian-excalidraw-plugin/releases/tag/2.0.25","elements":[],"appState":{"theme":"dark","gridSize":null,"viewBackgroundColor":"#ffffff"}} ``` %%
