Vayle, meanwhile, has fully shifted from divine to primal magic, embracing the Apometi’s power at the cost of Melani’s blessing. Ash wrestles with the fear of losing his mind and the disturbing thought that the tree that they encountered in the arena might be Jade Quarion. [[Calamity's Ruin]] notices we've somehow been able to get past the part they couldn't get past (the veil between the living and the dead). We stay at [[The Rowdy Rockfish]]. [[Brelda Venkervale]] is now handling everything and we see that [[Lazda Venkervale]] is not there anymore. He's been restrained and is shouting at something. During the long rest, [[Vayle]] is plagued by the thoughts of: - [[Malik]] - [[Melani]] - [[The Apometi]] - [[Xal'garoth - The Apex Beast]] They think Malik is an issue. Also, Vayle has turned away from Melani's divine blessing in order to get the Apometi's primal powers. They no longer have divine spells. They now have primal spells. Vayle is grateful to the Apometi, but they don't feel the need to workship it. [[Ashnefrotty|Ash]] is uneasy about his recent discoveries: - he's going to go insane - what if the tree is/was [[Jade Quarion]]? That's the thing that brought him back [[Zuhri]] is worried about Ash going crazy and equally about him finding out what he's looking for... because it might mean that he goes away. She's always taken his presence for granted, but recently they've been encountering lots of creatures that are in a similar state between life and death/undeath, and she's beginning to wonder if Ash's state can be changed. If so, she might lose him forever. We also have a 150gp [[Beastmaster's sigil]]. [[Jaspen Bond Callistair|Bond]] has this. We went to [[Magiloi]] at [[Crow's Cask]]. [[Grumblebum|Grumble]] bought an *Elixir of Life*. [[Zuhri]] wants to go talk to [[Lazda Venkervale|Lazda]]. [[Brelda Venkervale|Brelda]] stops me gently. He might hurt me. She's the only one who can calm him down. Lazda would never hurt anyone before, but now he screams at people for no reason. He is physically fine, but he sees or imagines things that aren't there and it scares the patrons. But he's getting worse, mentally. He's reliving all those weeks of being tortured before we rescued him. He says he sees mostly darkness and then several yellow eyes in the dark, floating around him, always following him and hurting him. He can't see his body or his hands but he knows the eyes are hurting him. Sometimes one pair of eyes, sometimes seven. Brelda says that he doesn't have runes on his body, though. [[Jaspen Bond Callistair|Bond]] wants to explore how he can make more things. He needs two things: 1. A formula - he can find or buy this. 2. A feat (*Alchemical Crafting*) to be able to make things from the formula, which Bond already has. He goes to the goblins in town. They have some elixirs: - One that gives you a sixth finger that gives you an advantage to disarming and gives you climb 20. - Dread Ampoule, Level 11. 3d6 mental and 3 splash. It's 150 gp. - Life shot: Ammunition that heals instead of damages. They have a cartridge of it for 50 gp. - Apple Reed Mutagen. Gummy liquid that disproportionately lengthens your legs. It reduces your reflex by 2 and AC by 1. + Athletics, +10 speed. [[Jaspen Bond Callistair|Bond]] buys 1 [[Life Shot]]. I spend 40gp for another Life Shot ([[Vayle]] spent 10gp) but I have yet to decide which monster parts to remove. [[Grumblebum|Grumble]] goes to the barracks. They're only selling two things: - [[Troll Hide Armor]]. Heals the wearer by 2d8 when they're bloodied. - [[Armor Bracelet]]: Charms on each bracelet (axes, sword, spear, bow, knife, firearms --one for each weapon type). When you remove the charm, it becomes that weapon. +2 striking weapon for 1 minute. 225 gp. When the charm wears off, it's a +1 weapon permanently. - [[Obsidian Wedge]] (?). +1 striking gun sword. They say it explodes when used so nobody has used it. I go to see [[Ruskramigin|Rusk]]. A small person in a hood talked to his parents. He had a small weird voice. Days after, Rusk was well. He still has the runes but he's fine. Looks like the guy who visited him was [[Odasa|Gloam]]. I also leave a message for [[Skram]] that [[Volluk Azrinae]] can command a swarm of rats. They say Skram is alive and well and in another city and is spending time with [[Babolt|Bolt]] and another person named [[Silence]]. - [ ] @UU Otari: Talk to [[Odasa|Gloam]] about whether or not he did anything to [[Ruskramigin]] to cure him. [[Vayle]] goes to talk to [[Lazda Venkervale|Laxda]] too. They determine his condition is not magical. He just has PTSD. Vayle suggests that they help him by counselling him. I help Vayle convince [[Brelda Venkervale|Brelda]], and Brelda says yes! Vayle will try to counsel Lazda daily during our downtime. We go to [[Wrin Sivinxi]]. She strangely has customers today. She is doing her usual creepy attitude and offhand comments about intimate moments of the customers' days. She asks Vayle if the scroll that she gave them. It's a scroll of *Searing Light*. Wrin gives it to the other customers. She's glad we survived our last ordeal and she believes in us. It has been proven true time and again. She feels we have a choice soon: either to trap or to free something or someone significant. She's afraid that the choice is not clear-cut for us. This choice we'll have to make when we return to [[The Gauntlight]] will affect the rest of the Gauntlight. We're on the cusp of making that decision. We're very near to making it.
