Grumble, a fiery and unrestrained dwarf from Dongan Hold, was introduced more fully—his clan trades firearms with Alkenstar, and he possesses resistance to fire and sonic damage. The party also refined their character adjectives: Zuhri is instinctive and fiercely protective but never obedient; Vayle is cowardly and martyrly but still defining their limits; and Bond is a solitary, experimental collector. The group can use hero points to influence the story in-character, whether through flashbacks, believable improvisations, or reusing consumables. > > Returning to the Gauntlight, the party encountered strange, metallic crabs—aberrant Fleshwarps with tremorsense and hive instincts. After a brief skirmish, the creatures retreated and Bond convinced Zuhri not to pursue further. A sparking, non-metallic crab appeared and eventually merged with the others, at which point all began to emit sparks and the original changed to match the rest. Meanwhile, Grumble smashed through a southern door, revealing a stockroom with surgical tools, armor racks, and jars containing what looks like preserved dwarven and halfling body parts. As the party prepared to investigate further, tensions grew over what these mutated creatures might become—and what experiments had once taken place in this dark corner of the dungeon. ^summary %% ## Video [Video]() %% --- ## Recap ![[ttrpgs/The Undead Unkillers/088_20250629 A decision that will change the Gauntlight#^summary]] --- ## Log We levelled up! We went through all of our character changes. [[Grumblebum|Grumble]] is from [[Dongan Hold]], a dwarven city near [[Alkenstar]]. His clan makes guns for export, because they trade with Alkenstar. He has a resistance to fire and sonic. House rules: Hero points - When you use hero points, you have to tie it to an aspect of your character. - Use a hero point to change the story-- something believable. - Use a hero point to make a flashback, only if it's conceivable that you would have had time to prepare for this. - Use a hero point to gain an extra use of a one-use (consumables) or daily item. Vayle is cowardly and martyrly, but never ___ ? Bond is experimental and a collector, but never social. Zuhri's adjectives - Always: Protective (*If you mess with my ambush, you mess with me*) - Always: Instinctive (*Teeth first, questions later*) - Never: Obedient (*Wildness Can't Be Ordered*) Grumble is patriotic (to his race without care for others), ?, and has no restraint when it comes to fighting. [[Vandy Banderdash]] knows a bit of [[Vayle]]'s true nature, since she's helped cure Vayle. She's not told the [[Pharasma|Pharasmins]], though, which puts her in a tight spot if they find out that she knows. Not many people accept Vayle for what they are. We go back to [[The Gauntlight]] and to the room where we'd killed one mimic (Frost Zombie) and thrown the other one down the trap door. We find three [[Metallic Crabs|metallic looking crabs]] chittering around. They don't seem to have eyes but they know we're there. Vayle has never seen these kinds of creatures before and as far as they know, these crabs are unique to this place. They could be a problem if there are a lot of them, but three shouldn't be a problem for us. They exist in hives. They are also part aberration. Specifically, Flesh Warp. They have tremorsense up to 90 feet. Zuhri attacks the crabs! They're not undead. Their shells are actually made of metal. Bond senses that there are more of them through the door. The crabs run away. Vayle also figures out that the other crab-like creatures that were fighting to the north are losing, based on the sounds of the scuffle. Zuhri and [[Ashnefrotty|Ash]] give chase, and see a fourth crab-looking thing that doesn't have a metal carapace. Instead, it's sparking as if with electricity. We stop chasing and go back to the south door in the hallway. I try the key I have (to F7), but it doesn't fit. Through the keyhole I see crates with some rags over them, like they haven't been used in a while. Bond goes after the crab trying to give it food. Grumble kicks open the door to the south, shattering the door to pieces. It seems like it's a [[Gauntlight Stockroom|stockroom]], and there's another door to the south of that. In this room there are empty armor racks and surgical tools. There are also jars in there of preserved humanoid parts, like halfling or dwarven parts. Vayle tells Grumble that. The one crab that was sparking went to the other crabs, and now all of them are sparking and the one that was sparking now also has a metallic carapace. %% # Excalidraw Data ## Text Elements ## Embedded Files 78530845937a6f48bad15b3c50d964fb8072af9a: [[uu-gauntlight-level-5.png]] ## Drawing ```compressed-json N4KAkARALgngDgUwgLgAQQQDwMYEMA2AlgCYBOuA7hADTgQBuCpAzoQPYB2KqATLZMzYBXUtiRoIACyhQ4zZAHoFAc0JRJQgEYA6bGwC2CgF7N6hbEcK4OCtptbErHALRY8RMpWdx8Q1TdIEfARcZgRmBShcZQUebQBGAGZtAAYaOiCEfQQOKGZuAG1wMFAwMogSbggAUQB1ADkAaU1iACkhAGtCAEkKXAB2arZ6I2JifHSyyFhEKsJ9aKR+csxu Zx4AFmSUgFYADn7EgDZErd2Uo43lyBg107iATn74h72NvZOePfieHeuICgkdTcRKJfraS6HfoPB4/I4nPb/SQIQjKaQgh5/YqQazKYLcFL/ZhQUhsDoIADCbHwbFIVRJ1mYcFwgVyk3Kmlw2A6ylJQg4xCpNLpEgZHCZLJyUHZkAAZoR8PgAMqwfESQQeGUQYmk8m1IGSbh8bHaklkhAqmBq9Aayr/PlojjhfJoeL/NjM7BqW6ulKEk284RwbrEF 2oAoAXX+svI2RD3A4QkV/0IAqwVVwaXtwgFTuYYcTyZNYQQxG4Px48Wh/R4/X+jBY7C4aES9aYrE49U4Ym47weRyeWKmFWYABFMlBS9xZQQwv9NDniNVgtlcgWk/h/kI4MRcJOy67+jt4t8eEdNkcT/8iBwOgmN9e2Nyp2gZ/g58WolAhGGIIgBamyhavKwTxhI/R7DsiQpG8OwPGCuBHLK7ycsQ8Q7JoiTYDsKTEP2GyypoewpDWuCyg8uBasw7 jiOG2JgG69HxNiUYmtgpJwPeirFAAvuArE4nAcAqnutGlNMyLZFUu6kHeywMIQCAUAAQlyPJ8gKQq0lUADEsr6QZ7IQNgIislA3STvoKq6pS1LaRIOnxAgTlOUZJmkGZFlZKp3KBvygp2SK6BihKZluaZUpefoABiCrKqqtHatSdrFMZEW5FF1nmvqxDAmgxrlO5nmWVl5KWtaSWavJRWRZZABKwiOs65bVel5mWQA8p63rln6rUebVWTRZwUDRb g+gKj6qBDpANUZZZw25EqhBGLRPD+oVbVRQAKlgUAAIJEMozboMEsrSv1xVZCJpAHR5bAUMiuAHqghabqlc3tVk1QCvt92PSEL0QCypJUJdg36H9oPbfAiUaWW8nUaSioABrcFBKTaL8zwbPEeOJF8PyI+x1L4AAmhiOzaBsKTHL87x7ITvzyUYbAGNw4mQPQBBCLRzFlDx4PzVkDX+Xmv7w0ZvIkMtq1GhtkDS8QKoIJxaAzRASsALJsMQCA/bg mjBC9b4fuUStaUFnMQMp1JA6QyicgAFJWda8FW1Du27mM7AAlFqdUIMoSYslUDvOzw0Ge5HhK8FHqA+/7vFC1ApUIF1UBNuuRblDG40IIHaakIBHMmjkhvG9wJK8/82BEGrqDVwg/wcPnVekDXJrCFAN60U3yepXYABWCDYHkSqt3AOt6wbRsvqgpvN6lXKZ4w21sxMaDWzMiVhMEY9NlqJnEgYMOzGgb2Ps+Juzkvw4xgYSqZAfnDTrf16hAdB9 rxvXH4Lx4BBZ0BAuEDmfEeJAA=== ``` %%
