## Log
The door we're in front of has a thin, hexagon-shaped recess. [[Jaspen Bond Callistair|Bond]] knows it's trapped. Bond recognizes the work of [[Volluk Azrinae]] on this door. It reminds him of the work on the [[Ash Elementals]] with the fish bowl that Volluk did many years ago, but this is way better.
It's a moaning voice that is talking. It's a hissing voice that doesn't sound like a normal person's voice. We can smell blood and rotten flesh.
We loot the [[Drider]]. He has a +1 composite longblow and glaive. We also looted the [[Mulventok]], who has a +1 chakram and a steel shield. [[Vayle]] thinks they had the [[Black Frost Zombie|Black Frost]] curse. They would have died from it.
There are two other voices that we can differentiate from the main soothing, moaning one. The other two voices are groaning.
We take a short rest - we take 30 minutes to heal up. Meanwhile, the corpses of the two things we've just killed are zombies. We are easily able to dispatch of them because they're normal zombies, not Black Frost Zombies.
[[Grumblebum|Grumble]] throws a torch on the tree. It gets burnt, but it heals itself back up again.
I try *Thoughtsense* beyond the door. I only sense between one and two.
Grumble knocks on the door and tries to communicate with whoever's on the other side. They say something but we can't make it out. We hear chains or something being opened and closed.
We go west instead, past the arena. The door is also locked. Bond picks the lock but fails. He uses *[[Ring of the Ram]]* instead. It works, but it's very noisy! Especially since Grumble also hit it at the same time.
We hear the bodies of the drider being dragged into the door towards the south. Then the door closes again.
We go into the door west of the arena. It leads into a T-intersection that goes north and south. The corridor is empty. There are tracks here made by a [[Sugathi]] dragging some other creature towards the north door. [[Jafaki]] is a Sugathi! From the south door, it sounds like something burned recently-- could be something chemical since there's no sign of smoke or fire in this area.
The door on the south is barricaded from the inside.
I do Thoughtsense inside. I try to talk to whoever's inside and tell them we're not on the side of Belcorra. I tell them we're adventurers just clearing the Gauntlight and if they're friends, then they're free to go. There are two people (one male and one female) with sharp ears and horns, red skin, goat legs like satyrs, red tails. They're wearing some steel armor that is bronze-red and too many spikes. So many spikes that they seem more ornamental than functional.
- The walls of this chamber glisten with blood.
- On one corner is an iron maiden. It's like a wardrobe with spikes inside for torturing.
- Another corner: Table bristling with nails pointing up.
The two creatures are each holding a two-handed glaive. They don't have blood on them, which is notable since the rest of the room is really bloody. They used to be called [[Barbazu]]s, now known as [[Vordine]]. They are low-level devils. Devils are typically lawful and have squads, units, and platoons. These are the grunts of the devils.
They say they're against Belcorra as well. The man walks to the iron maiden, opens it. We see a long-dead morlock fall to the floor. He says "We're resisting Jafaki on this floor. This room is the only part of the floor we have so far but we plan to make an incursion into the rest soon." The woman says they've been planning for hundreds of years. "There is a war on this floor. Jafaki is stopping us. All we seek is to fulfill the contract made by our boss, [[General Urevian]]."
Vayle asks if they want to join forces since we have mutual interests. But they say that they are soldiers and only take orders from their commanding officers. But they say they'll tell their superiors of our presence.
Grumble asks them what they know about the north door. They said that there was a creature there that they (the Vordines) injured and will likely die soon. They will tell their General of our presence. One of them says "[[Scree]], tell the General we have allies." A [[Flybaby]] appears. It's actually called a [[Zibub]]. An Accuser Baby. It has compound eyes instead of normal eyes and mandibles growing out of its mouth. It's buzzing and hovering in place. It casts a spell, says "Yes, Sir" and disappears. It can fly, turn invisible, and teleport-- but it's more of a messenger.
As a matter of good faith, they tell us about the creature in the north room. They say that creatures are brought in there to a creature called an [[Irnakurse]]. An Irnakurse is an elf that is subjected to cruel and humiliating Fleshwarp practices so that it's a mess of limbs and organs. Parts that should be internal are left in full display. They periodically crawl to the surfaces from the greatest depths of the [[Darklands]]. It's a Level 9 creature. The Vordines have injured it with their glaves using some sort of infernal malediction, giving it a curse: it's permanently *Frightened 2*.
The Vordines say they've killed many creatures and dragged them into that room, but the Irnakurse is a relatively new arrival. If they succeed in their task to secure the foothold, more of them will be sent here.
Their names: [[Inqator]] "Just call me Inq" (male) and [[Zemna]] "Zem" (female).
The Irnakurse is a large thing with 20 foot reach and tentacles. "Don't let the tentacles hit you-- you will be overwhelmed with corrupted images of a ruined life, rendering you stunned for the next few turns." Once per day it can unleash an alien shriek of nightmarish horror and pain - that causes *Stupefied*. It also has a mind attack. It's an aberration, probably created by Jafaki. It's not very smart, but it is formidable. It has not changed tactics in the last few times that the devils tried to attack it. It is no longer an elf. It is made *from* elves.
- Tentacle stun (20 feet)
- Alien Shriek that causes Stupefy
Grumble asks them to join us, but they say that they've already weakened the Irnakurse and told us of its abilities, so now it's our turn to prove we're who we say we are by killing it.
They tell us Scree will keep an eye on us and tell them how well we do.
