[[Jaspen Bond Callistair|Bond]] notices signs that [[Gears]] has passed through, while [[Grumblebum|Grumble]] reads [[Dread]]'s shorthand marking cleared ground. Sythra won't budge on [[Jafaki]]'s place on the level — he's still doing [[Belcorra]]'s work — and brushes off [[Vayle]]'s attempt to reach her using [[Maret]]'s hair spike. The party learns a graveknight can make someone a gravesquire by gifting a shard of its armor, letting it see through their eyes even unworn — and Sythra is missing a piece of hers. She recognizes the [[Cloak of the Huntress]] Bond carries, and lets the party roam the level on condition they don't disrupt operations and report back. We go back to [[The Gauntlight]]. [[Graveknight Armor|Sythra]] is waiting for us on her mount. [[Jaspen Bond Callistair|Bond]] realizes that [[Gears]] has been here, as evidenced by some traps that he's left around the place. Grumble sees markings by [[Dread]] that are shorthand for what they have fought there and marking things cleared. We try to get Sythra to agree that [[Jafaki]] does not belong there, but she says that he is doing what he was contracted to do and that he is still necessary for [[Belcorra]]'s plan. This is an auto fail! [[Vayle]] tries the emotional angle by showing her the hair spike they got from [[Maret]]. Sythra recognizes it but thinks that it is not relevant. She's not showing any emotion now. She doesn't seem to be as emotional as she was the last time. A piece of her armor is missing. Bond realizes that it's telling because it's a piece of her identity and her oath. Some Graveknights have the ability to gift a portion of their armor to someone, and that someone becomes a Gravesquire. A gravesquire is the same person that they have always been, but the graveknight can subtly influence them and see through their eyes. And there's something else that we're missing but we can't figure it out now... A gravesquire doesn't have to be wearing the armor; they just have to *have* the bit of armor. She thinks Jafaki has to continue what he's doing in Belcorra's name without affecting the work of the other people on this level. She thinks the [[Vordine]] shouldn't be marching on this level. And Chafkem is not in her purview. She reacts to the [[Cloak of the Huntress]] that Bond has. She recognizes it. Sythra lets us walk around the level but warns us not to disrupt operations. She says she expects a report next time she sees us. We decide to go to [[Volluk Azrinae]]'s workshop so that Bond can check to see if he can open the door--otherwise we'd have to kill Jafaki and then get the instructions from Chafkem. Bond knows that the door is for sure trapped. Bond sees that the door can be unlocked by three things: 1. a soul gem 2. a keyword 3. disabling it (and only Bond can try) This door requires three successes to disable it.
