Aiden Court is a High Cleric of [[Pharasma]] who visited the party in Level 4 of the [[Abomination Vaults]] on day 77. He arrived with two apprentices to assess the threat the dungeon poses to [[Otari]]. His staff glows when undead are nearby, which alerted him to the presence of undead in the area.
Court called [[Gloam]] their "wayward child" because Gloam hasn't been attending church regularly. When [[Vayle]] invited them to join the party due to the dangers of Level 5, Court and his apprentices declined. However, Vayle warned them to flee if they encounter [[Siora Fallowglade]], and one of the apprentices silently thanked the group for the warning before they descended to Level 5.
## Discovery of Vayle's Nature (Session 096)
During the party's encounter with Court on Level 5, [[Vayle]] attempted to heal Court but accidentally killed [[Siora Fallowglade]] in the process. Court witnessed [[Vayle]] taking damage from the same *Heal* spell that killed Siora, revealing [[Vayle]]'s undead nature. Despite this discovery, Court surprisingly allowed the party to leave without taking action against them.
Court's apprentices [[Tartucci]] and [[Vorn]] were present during this encounter.
## Dawnflower Library Debate (Session 100)
During [[100_20251123 The Dawnflower Debate]], the party returned to [[Otari]] and entered the [[Dawnflower Library]] where a heated debate was occurring about [[Vayle]]'s undead nature. Court was the most vehement opponent, pointing Vayle out as they entered. The debate involved multiple factions:
- The [[Pharasma|Pharasmins]] (including Court) believe being undead is unnatural and not the order of things
- [[Vandy Banderdash]] argued Vayle's case, though it went against her that she admitted she knew Vayle was undead and helped them
- The [[Vesna|Vesnans]] (followers of [[Vesna]]) seemed to be on the party's side
- Followers of [[Sarenraei]] were also present
Despite Court's vehement opposition, [[Vayle]] successfully made a Diplomacy check defending their right to exist, and the party spoke in support. The Pharasmins (including Court) stormed out, saying "that's not the end of it," but this marked the first step toward getting Vayle's kind accepted.
## Upcoming Confrontation (Session 099)
During [[099_20251026 The Dwarven Irnakurse]], the party decided to return to [[Otari]] from their exploration of Level 5. [[Vayle]] is concerned about facing Court, who now has knowledge of Vayle's undead nature. The confrontation is pending and Vayle is uncertain about what action Court will take regarding this information.
