# [[Barbazu]] A barbazu is a 5th level melee combatant that can make attacks with its beard, claw, and glaive. it has divine innate spells. Its glaive can cause a disease or infernal wound. Barbazus are one of the lowest levels of fiends in Hell, and are usually scouts and informants, not fighters. ## Session 112 — Drill instructor A Level 5 [[Vordine]] (legacy Barbazu) whipped [[Grothlut|Grothluts]] and [[Dreshkan|Dreshkans]] in [[General Urevian]]'s staging hall, then negotiated with the party after combat ended ([[112_20260404 The Pentagram Shards]]). ## Evolution to Vordine (Session 098) During [[098_20251018 Inq, Zem, and the Vordine Resistance]], the party learned that Barbazus have evolved or been renamed to [[Vordine]]. The Vordine are now engaged in a resistance against [[Jafaki]]'s forces in the Gauntlight, seeking to fulfill a contract made by their commanding officer [[General Urevian]]. The Vordine soldiers [[Inqator]] and [[Zemna]] are currently holding one room on their floor of the Gauntlight and plan to make incursions into the rest soon.
