# [[Cailean Key]]

A magical key that belonged to [[Otari Ilvashti]], one of the [[Roseguard]]. The party already has this item in their possession. It is one of the items needed to help restore the Roseguard or help them move on.
The key is part of the collection of items that Otari Ilvashti mentioned the party should find to help his friends and understand why they need him.
## Session 115 — Awakening Inside Vayle's Dagger
- **Hidden in the Hilt**: The Key had been hidden inside the hilt of [[Vayle]]'s dagger the entire time, dormant; in this session Vayle hears a warm, tugging voice on their person and traces it to the hilt
- **Awakens**: When Vayle pulls the Key from the dagger, it speaks in a booming voice — "Ah, finally, I'm free!" — and declares Vayle its new owner
- **Liberation Power**: Senses someone who needs to be freed and offers to free that person; the bearer must point it at the target, brandish it with a flourish, and say something nice
- **Frees Siora**: Used by Vayle against [[Siora Fallowglade|Siora]] on Level 5 of [[The Gauntlight]]; the counteract succeeds at rank 4 with a +19 modifier
- **Counteract Effect**: Breaks [[Belcorra]]'s hold on Siora, collapses the shadow duplicates, and also lifts Vayle's own Stupefied condition
- **Awakened by Prior Liberations**: The Key appears to have awakened because of the party's previous liberation actions (e.g., breaking Siora's Red Mantis contract in [[ttrpgs/The Undead Unkillers/113_20260411 Breaking the Binding of an Assassin|Session 113]])
