# [[Calamity's Ruin]]
Calamity's Ruin are a rival adventuring party in [[Otari]] who are our biggest competition and also our biggest allies.
They seem to be good-aligned... a little too much so. Their cleric, [[Odasa|Gloam]], is a [[Pharasma|Pharasmin]], so his shield gives him the ability to detect when undead are nearby. This makes it difficult for [[Vayle]] to be near him.
## Session 077 - Werewolf Attack Heroes
- **Heroic Actions**: Along with [[Carman Rajani]], [[Wrin Sivinxi]], [[Vandy Banderdash]], and [[Worly Win]], helped fend off the werewolf attacks on [[Otari]]
- **Town Protection**: Prevented Otari's complete destruction during the recent werewolf attacks
- **Vulnerability**: The town was left vulnerable when the party departed, with only Calamity's Ruin left to protect them
- **Community Defense**: Worked alongside other brave citizens to protect the town when the party was absent
## Session 118 - Gone From Town
- **Gloam left with the Pharasmins**: [[Jaspen Bond Callistair|Bond]] determined that [[Odasa|Gloam]] had gone with the [[Pharasma|Pharasmins]] — and that he had *no choice* in it
- **Whole group absent**: The rest of Calamity's Ruin is no longer in town either
- **Gloam is Zuhri's brother**: The soul-gem eye recorded Gloam alone on [[Level 6]] of [[The Gauntlight]], writing a message in a childhood sibling shorthand only [[Zuhri]] could read — revealing he is her brother. With the Pharasmin clergy split over benevolent undead, the two risk ending up on opposite sides of a conflict
## Session 128 - Back in the Fight
Calamity's Ruin reappeared in [[The Gauntlight]] mid-combat, entering through the south door with a mechanical click. [[Dread]] called out the Vordine [[Echbos]] directly, [[Shawanti|Bee]] tumbled in shooting at the [[Dreshkans]], and Dread split the room: his crew on the devils, the party on the [[Quadruped Construct]]. [[Gears]] came with them, feral and swinging a rocket-fitted glaive.
Echbos demanded the party help him against Dread and Bee. They refused — [[Zuhri]] pulled Bee out of danger with Friendfetch, [[Ashnefrotty|Ash]] killed a Dreshkan, and [[Vayle]] grabbed Echbos and hauled him toward Bee. Whatever standing the party had with [[General Urevian]] is likely spent.
Still unexplained: [[Odasa|Gloam]] is not with them, and Gears — supposedly the traitor — is.
## Session 129 - Three of Four
Three of the four Calamity's Ruin members present fought the whole session alongside the party, and none of them went down. The division of labour held: they took the devils, the party took the constructs.
- [[Dread]] revealed a **purplish marshal aura** granting +2 damage to anyone he counts as an ally, and the party was inside it. He hunted [[Echbos]] across two rooms and claimed him outright: *"leave this one to me"*
- [[Shawanti|Bee]] fights as a **Monastic Archer**, using her bow in melee with her shield on her back, and double-critted twice. She picked up **Archer's Elbow** on a fumble, a -2 penalty to ranged attacks until healed
- [[Gears]] detonated his devil-glaive three times, bloodying three [[Dreshkans]], and is himself bloodied. He nearly caught [[Zuhri]] in the first blast without noticing she was there, and ignored Dread's shouted order to leave Echbos alone
- The line that landed hardest was Dread's answer to Echbos' threat that "the others will know": **"The others have been dealt with."** Whatever Calamity's Ruin has been doing down here, it has involved dealing with devils the party has not met
The party is now their de facto ally against the Vordine, and [[Odasa|Gloam]] is still absent.
## Session 131 - The Truce They Never Mentioned
The alliance hit its first hard limit. When [[Echbos]] escaped and [[Graveknight Armor|Sythra]] arrived in the doorway instead, [[Vayle]] called for Calamity's Ruin and [[Shawanti|Bee]] came back to the party, but only to tell them she would not fight. **Calamity's Ruin has a truce with Sythra.** They never mentioned it, not in Session 125 when the party was negotiating with her themselves, and not at any point in the eleven rounds since Dread split the room.
Bee also relayed that Calamity's Ruin has a problem of its own: she shouted to [[Dread]] that **the [[Flesh Warps]] are taking the devil corpses**. So whatever Dread is doing in the southern rooms now has to compete with a third faction stripping the battlefield behind him.
The division of labour that has held since Session 128 is effectively over. Dread and Bee went south after Echbos and the Flesh Warps, and the party was left holding a graveknight their allies are contractually unwilling to touch.
Open questions: when and how did they negotiate the truce with Sythra, what did they give up for it, and does it extend to the party at all? And [[Odasa|Gloam]] is still not here.
## Session 133 - Loot, Curses, and a Debt
The three remaining members showed up at [[The Rowdy Rockfish]] with the loot laid out across the tables and split it fairly: 43 gp each in [[Dreshkan]] parts and 71 gp each from the [[Hollow Tar Zombie|Hollow Tar Zombies]] and [[Hollow Root-Ridden]], which they identified by name. They took no share of Echbos's glaive, whip, and breastplate. All three were hurt, Bee and Gears badly, and all three were infected with the [[Black Hollow Curse]].
Their real problem is that their healer, Gloam, is still gone. Vayle offered to heal them anyway, and Dread answered for the crew: *"We will not forget this service."* He was careful not to promise anything beyond that, because Gloam is one of them. Bee fist-bumped Zuhri in thanks. They then walked with the party to the [[Dawnflower Library]], Gears talking shop as if nothing had happened ([[133_20261018 Healer Heal Thyself]]).
