# [[Drider]]

A drider is a drow with a spider's body: the torso of an elf, then spider all the way down. It has 8 eyes and 8 legs, and a jaw that opens like mandibles (sideways). Also known as "Part Spider Part Person" due to its hybrid nature.
## Recent Encounters
### Session 097 - Mulvenboom Combat
During [[097_20251004 Mulvenboom]], the party encountered a drider serving as a guard alongside a [[Mulventok]] in the arena area. The drider:
- Looked like an elf but had 8 eyes
- Had the torso of an elf, then spider body down
- Had 8 legs and a jaw that opened like mandibles (sideways)
- Ordered the Mulventok in an unknown language
- Cast *Fireball* affecting the entire party
- Used Magic Missiles (called "force barrage") on [[Vayle]]
- Was grappled and restrained by [[Ashnefrotty|Ash]] using Evolution Surge
- Was killed by [[Ashnefrotty|Ash]] after being restrained
- [[Jaspen Bond Callistair|Bond]] identified it as a drider and explained that being a drider is an honor for drow, though most die in service and don't live to reap the benefits of their status
- Uses arcane magic and has no known weaknesses
### Session 092 - Avenging Ash
During [[092_20250727 Avenging Ash]], the party encountered a drider (referred to as "Part Spider Part Person") in the arena area. The creature was:
- The size of a car
- Holding two bodies, one in each hand
- Working alongside a [[Mulventok]] as a bodyguard/soldier
- Recognized by the party from [[Augrael]]'s earlier warning
### Session 098 - Inq, Zem, and the Vordine Resistance
During [[098_20251018 Inq, Zem, and the Vordine Resistance]], the party encountered and defeated a drider in the Gauntlight. The drider was carrying:
- A +1 composite longbow
- A glaive
The party looted these items after defeating the creature. The drider was working alongside a [[Mulventok]] as guards in the arena area.
## Earlier Sighting (Session 083)
During [[083_20250216 Augrael is totally our favourite undead]], [[Augrael]] reported seeing a mysterious creature that appeared to be "part spider part person" in [[The Gauntlight Level 5 - Flesh Warps]]. This was likely the same drider encountered later in Session 098.
### Behavior Observed by Augrael
- Comes to [[The Gauntlight Level 5 - Flesh Warps]] and drops off injured or dying [[Flesh Warp]]s
- Most of the dropped-off creatures die, but some survive and roam the halls
- Seen by [[Augrael]] during his time in the cage area
- Responsible for transporting injured [[Flesh Warp]]s to the level
